After almost three injury-ravaged years, Dean Ashton, as the back pages suggest, will finally hang
up his boots and retire. The player who was once seen as a unique cross between the playing styles
of Alan Shearer and Teddy Sheringham, will never fully fulfill his potential as a top-class
footballer. Click to continue reading...
The tiresome saga surrounding Fergie's ill-timed and ill-conceived attack on Alan Wiley has finally
been dealt with; the punishment will no doubt be seen as a slap on the wrist. The FA's decision to
fine the United manager and ban him for four games, two of them suspended, isn't going to harm
Manchester United or the manager. Click to continue reading...
The agent of Andrea Dossena has released a statement denying that the player is in talks with
Napoli ahead of a potential return to Serie A in the January transfer window.
The Italian international has struggled to settle in the Premier League following his £7m
transfer from Udinese in the summer of 2008 and has failed to hold down a regular starting place in
a Liverpool shirt.
Well, it looks like the NuRock v TOA saga is continuing, but only a little bit, while the USL-1

HOWDY guys. FP used to hate Saturday's when he was working at one of the major supermarkets (doesn't matter
which one, they as bad as each other). But now Saturday's are a day for a bit of R and R. This has nothing to do with Glory, but sharing is caring, right? Anywho, Glory take on Melbourne Victory tomorrow, and with game-day so close there's quite a bit
going on. Click to continue reading...

he long-running saga of Newcastle United's prospective takeover could be determined on Saturday

I was going to write about this yesterday but...... (well, you don't have time for my saga of
yesterday.) Let's just say it involved lots of lost work and headaches...and some rain. I'm
down here in Atlanta and it's raining ALL the time.
Anyways, so when I saw that Salt Lake had won its match from Wednesday I was very, very
happy.
.What a dramatic turnaround? Well it seems a never ending saga with Diego Armando Maradona being
inside a football stadium, be it in the field or out of it. Argentina scraped 0-1 past Uruguay, who
were reduced to ten men. However, it was overall a poor match in terms of football qualities.
Lionel Messi again failed [. Click to continue reading...
The fact that several high-profile clubs are in a tizzy about the possibility of their star men not
making the World Cup is a new twist to the saga of club power. It all started with Cristiano
Ronaldo, of course, and the fact that if Portugal fail to make it to South Africa, he will suffer
from gloom and a lack of motivation that will affect his club performances for the rest of this
season, poor chap. Click to continue reading...
It turns out that Barcelona is the worst city in Europe for "pickpocketing" crime. Madrid came
4th in the top 10 list. The cities were named and shamed by Tripadvisor who compiled this list.
Some would argue that pickpocketing is not as big a crime as say house robbery. Which occurs a
bit too frequently for my liking in the North Western parts of England.

saga. Bronze medal Silver medal Gold medal Click to continue reading...
Saga of the transfer of an excellent, experienced English defender to the ambitious
fourth-league club was over even before it started. Sol Campbell broke the five-year
contract with Notts County after only one match and this move might cost him a break from
professional football till next midterm, that is to say January.
Now it seems that the whole Sol Campbell joining Notts County was one of the biggest moves of
the summer, and thus Notts County and Campbell both received huge amounts of interest, along with
Sven Goran Eriksson who had been installed as Director of Football at the League One club.
However after all this coverage and interest, and after playing just one match (having signed a
5 year deal), ex England international defender Sol Campbell has walked out on Notts County, after
featuring in the 2-1 defeat by Morecambe on Saturday.
The transfer window has barely shut and we have an agonising ten weeks until the open sign is
displayed, but this has not stopped the speculation starting once again.
It is no secret that Wenger tried to sign Marouane Chamakh this summer, the two clubs could not
agree on a fee. Arsenal offered a fee in the region of £5million, whilst Bordeaux wanted double
that price for a player who is out of contract next summer and stated his intentions on wishing to
join Arsenal.

by CARL ELDRIDGE As we know, Eduardo's two match ban has been overturned by Uefa and this

What's the latest? Anyone know? Two articles in today's Bangkok Post, here and here. It's nonsense
that this saga can be allowed to drag on for so long. In November the Thais face two crucial Asian
Cup qualifiiers against Singapore but this confusion can't be helping. Nobody, neither Reid with his silence nor the head of the Thai FA Worawi with his grandiose
statements, is coming out of this smelling of roses. Click to continue reading...
There's plenty at stake tomorrow in terms of World Cup qualifying. Aside from the ever-important
match for the U.S. down in Port of Spain, a quick look around the world reveals how desperate
nations are as qualification nears conclusion.
Perhaps standing out above the rest is England's chance to seal qualification against
Croatia.

"Giggs looking to pick out Rooney... who's got there, is that a penalty kick?! What does Mike
Dean say?! He says penalty!"
This whole routine is getting a little old, isn't it? Screw diamonds, refereeing mistakes are
forever. It's like the referees all convene and decide whose turn it is to make mistake and forbid
us from ever forgetting how truly inadequate they are.
Not that the whole Xabi Alonso saga needs any repeating; but I do think this story on Alonso in
today's Guardian sheds some light on what was really going on last summer between Rafa and the
midfielder.
One would assume Alonso is being diplomatic with his comments regarding his relationship with
Benitez and the club leading up to the transfer earlier this summer.

It was the long term transfer saga of the summer and one that never quite got pen near paper.
This compilation of the Bordeaux man starts with about a minute of his best misses and then shows
him putting away some pretty standard finishes. He looks like a showboat player and a diver and a
player I am actually quite glad we didn't pursue our interest in.
