With the Vietnam, Malaysia, Thai and Singapore leagues roughly in sync with each other and due to
start their new seasons in the early weeks of 2010 clubs are now preparing training schedules,
squads and friendlies.
Why not get the champions from each country to get together in a friendly tournament in December?

Former SAFFC striker Aleksander Duric has confirmed he will stay in Singapore next season saying
that his new club will probably be 'somewhere in the east.'
Two choices there, Geylang United and Tampines Rovers.
He has of course previously lined up with Geylang United, 2001-2004, and by returning to Bedok
Stadium he would relish the opportunity of Asian club competition with the Eagles.

Referee Abdul Malik made a brave decision to carry on the match despite the heavy downpour (as
pictured above) that started prior to the start of this live televised game.
Frankly, this fixture would have been a title decider perfectly fit for this season's finale, but
it wasn't the case after all.

Sriwijaya have that said they could not meet the demands of Singapore international striker
Aleksander Duric.
The club who have won the Copa Indonesia in the last two seasons say that they were unwilling to
pay for Duric and his family to stay in an executive apartment at Palembang's only 5 star hotel
after they had arranged a mansion for his use.

SAFFC's 1-0 victory last night against Sengkang Punggol meant they became SLeague champions for a
record 4th time - something not even Manchester United have achieved as Aleksander Duric told me
last week. The bean pole striker made his own personal tally 28 for the season as he looks to sew
up the golden boot award.

I would consider myself a SAFFC's jinx if they couldn't beat Sengkang Punggol at Jalan Besar
Stadium just now, as I was in person to see their last two matches (against Gombak United and Super
Reds),which they played below expectation, that would have allowed them to pop open the
champagne.
So third time lucky for the Warriors with their victory over the Dolphins at Jalan Besar Stadium,
thus sealed their fourth consecutive league title and another shot to next year's ACL tournament.

On the other side of the world to the eupohoria filled European Champions League, there is
another ‘Champions League'. The AFC Champions League. For those of you unaware of this league, 35
teams participate, either though direct qualification, or if you're from the UAE, Indonesia,
Singapore, Thailand or India, you have the arduous task of a playoff.

THE SHORT TAKE OF THE GAME
Barely 30 minutes into the game, the defending champions SAFFC shown that being the more
experienced side given them the much-needed composure in the attacking front.
Two goals in a space of seven minutes by Korean winger Park Tae Won done well to jolt the momentum
of Tampines Rovers who struggled to break into the Warriors heartlands in the first half.

Shadow Boxing football is a joy to watch actually.
As what Super Reds had shown us how fundamental skills were being applied to curb a superior team
like SAFFC, who were, honestly, out-of-sort hours ago.
Pending how individual look at it, for me it was a joy to watch despite the snail-paced of football
played as it's not very often we seen such simplicity style of being played in an era when the game
is getting more complex with list of dubious formations and much focused on pace, rather than the
basic skills we first taught to master at very young age.

Cup games are always something different as it's a no-hold barred contest between the two team that
whoever lose - OUT YOU GO!! simple as that.
The match between Geylang United and Brunei DPMM was my first League Cup match having just returned
from my Down Under trip.
This was deemed "NO-GOAL"
Was late for the game as it was last minute decision to be at the ground for this match, so I
missed the first goal of the night.

June 1 sees the start of the Singapore League Cup (SLC) with the 12 members of the SLeague facing
off against each other for the chance of some silverware.
Woodlands Wellington won the first edition of this trophy in 2007 while last year Gombak United
collected it.
This season sees some changes with the competition beginning with a group format, replacing the
knock out manner of earlier years.

Tampines Rovers surrendered their unbeaten record
I "tweeted" (above) before I reached Choa Chu Kang Stadium yesterday that expect "lotsa fire and
intensity" when SAFFC versus Tampines Rovers.
Indeed, the old feud of Noh Alam Shah and Daniel Bennett resurfaced after the former had allegedly
elbowed the latter when "Ah Long" scored the equalizer, that was ruled illegal by referee Abas Daud
following consultation with his assistant.

SAFFC were knocked out of the Singapore Cup tournament by resurrected Geylang United at the Bedok

Picture tells a thousand words - take note of SAFFC's players' (in darker outfit) reaction after
the game.

SAFFC were knocked out of the Singapore Cup by Geylang United.

decided it's time to take some shots on them.

Live televised football is making its return to heartlands on the Labour Day (1st May 2009), when
Geylang United will play hosts to defending Singapore Cup holders SAFFC at the Bedok Stadium.
The Eagles are enjoying some good run of form lately since Mike Wong took over as the head coach of
the Bedok-based team, whereas the SAFFC Warriors aren't having that kind of luxury after that away
defeat to DPMM that knocked them off from the top of the table days ago at Brunei.

Shell-shocked is too nice a word to describe last night 7-1 demolition of Sengkang Punggol by a
revitalized SAFFC.
I still struggling to come to term why the Dolphins, after yet another promising pre-season hype

Imaginary caption above from me on these DPMM folks.
Absolutely "suay loh" (out of luck)....
That sums up the situation at Yishun Stadium after the hosts, Super Reds, were cruelly denied all
three points when young Aussie striker Bryan Soane scored with a header off a free kick in the
dying seconds of the night to level the scores!

SAFFC's players and officials "get-together" before the start
There was some light drizzling at the Jalan Besar Stadium before the start of this crucial fixture
that would see SAFFC becoming the first team from Singapore to join the elites in the financial
lucrative ACL proper.
Like what PSMS Medan's skipper Elie Aiboy lamented during the pre-match media conference on having
to play on the new surface of the stadium, the Sumatrans started the game slowly in trying to adapt
themselves on this alien pitch.

The defending champions SAFFC, fresh from their mid-week ACL victory, is back in town to kick start
the defending of their league title with perennial minnows, Balestier Khalsa being their first
opponents for the season 2009.
Credits to my hometown club that they hold the Warriors at the bay until veteran striker Aleksandar
Duric broke the deadlock in the 36th minute with a well-taken shot, after chested down a long pass
from the middle of the park, from outside the box.

Was at the Choa Chu Kang Stadium to watch the match between SAFFC and Young Lions.

experience and skill maturity can make up by the sheer display of hard work and strong desire to do
well, as suggested by coach Terry Pathmanathan.

the accounts with his header in the 35th minute.
