Some of England's top players have been responding on Twitter to Fabio Capello quitting as manager
of the national team. Even in the handful of responses from the squad, it is apparent that Harry
Redknapp is the overwhelming favourite to take over. Gutted capello has quit. Good guy and top
coach. Got to be english [.
Sad weekend for British football as Nottingham Forest Owner Nigel Doughty was found dead in his
home yesterday. He was 54. According to a statement released by the club, Doughty was found dead in
his gym.
"It is with enormous sadness that Nottingham Forest announce the death of the club's owner
Nigel Doughty, Mr Doughty, who was 54, was found dead earlier today in his gym at his home in
Skillington, Lincolnshire.
Very sad news for the U.S. WNT today as it was confirmed via an MRI that defender Ali Krieger
had in fact torn the MCL and ACL in her right night after being brutally tackled in the USA's
opening match win over the Dominican Republic.
We are happy to report that she is handling the situation extremely well and is sincerely
appreciative of the outpouring of support from fans across the world.
Fox Soccer is reporting that Union striker/top scorer/face-of-the-franchise/fan-favorite
Sebastien Le Toux began training with the English Premier League's Bolton Wanderers ahead of a
transfer that will be completed by the end of the week.
As of 12:40 PM, no sources have confirmed this news.
Like a phoenix rising in the night (or a bat rising above Mestalla), the Valencia Offside
returns.
As many of you know, Kyle's Loco4LosChe is ending as of today. That's very sad news.
But the good news is that Kyle's going to write articles here, IF ANYONE FROM THE
OFFSIDE ANSWERS OUR E-MAILS .
Cate Dies In A Car Crash
Former New England Revolution forward Marco Antonio Lemos Tozzi, known as Cate, died on Tuesday.
Sean Donahue broke the sad news at New England Soccer Today.
Updated with press release from today. This is now official. Statements from
Sigi and Boss.
Seattle Sounders FC goalkeeper Terry Boss suffered a concussion against Manchester United in the
infamous friendly and a few weeks later another while suiting up for the Puerto Rico National
Team.
Serie A leaders Juventus came from 2 goals down to draw with Napoli at the San Paolo stadium in
a enthralling Serie A fixture last night. Goals from Hamsik and Pandev in the first half put the
host in the driving seat and in position to secure all points on offer before a resurgent
Bianconeri responded with goals from Matri, Marcelo Estigarribia and Simone Pepe saved Juventus
from suffering their first loss of the season.
We hate to be the bearer of sad news, but this 1-year-old girl suffered the worst bruises (and
possibly a bone crack above her nose) in the car accident involving Germany's
Lukas Podolski in Cologne two days ago. There is some controversy involved as the child's mother,
Ulrike, has accused Lukas of being ignorant (which is pretty unfair to the
striker, to be honest!
My word. This is all going rather well. A one goal swing at the Sports Direct Thunderdome last
month and that would've been a perfect ten winning streak since we were duped by both hues of
Manchester at the season's start. As it is we're looking at a twenty-eight point haul from a
possible thirty.
Venue: Old Trafford, Manchester. Date: Saturday 26 November, 2011 Kick-off: 3.00pm. Referee: Mike
Jones (replaced Phil Dowd). After such a great result was over-shadowed by the deeply sad news of
the death of a true Geordie Legend, Gary Speed, I've found it very hard to commit to a match
report. It's with a heavy heart [.
STARTERSBayern Munich was beaten this weekend and knocked from #1 in the Bundesliga.

Barcelona lost too, for the first time in 27 games, and fell 6 points behind Real Madrid in La
Liga! And the Classico is just two weeks away!

Top seeded Guadalajara was knocked out of the Mexican playoffs in the Quarterfinals.
One thing right after another today. With the sad news of Kevin Goldthwaite's retirement -- due
to, I suspect, injuries -- comes more roster news with a couple re-signings and some other, sadly
enough, players dropped.
The first bit of news is very welcome to me, personally, as both our star goalkeeper Troy
Perkins and up and coming center back defender David Horst were re-signed to new contracts of which
we're not quite sure about the details.
Got some sad news for everybody (and yes it is sad!) as Timbers center back defender, Kevin
Goldthwaite, has announced his retirement from the game today. While some of you might rejoice that
he is no longer a Timbers player many of us will remember some of his other contributions to the
team including a goal scored this past season.
Gary Speed MBE: 1969 2011. With the sad news on Sunday morning of the passing of the ex-Newcastle
United midfielder and Wales manager, I thought it would be a nice gesture to post something that
would give an opportunity for our readers to reminisce about Speed's career on Tyneside. I wrote
the this article [.
Suarez battles with Lescott...Liverpool had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Anfield on Sunday after fighting hard against a City side
that began to tire as the 90 minutes went on. Joe Hart kept the away side in the game with minutes
to spare after a great save to deny Andy Carroll. Both sides had a bit of luck but neither left
victorious.

Desperately sad news about Gary Speed - RIP
Within a day or two it will inevitably be swallowed within the black hole of wondrous statistics
about just how darned good the current crop are (best start to a season since the '61
Double-winners, since you ask), but the win at West Brom has muscled its way into AANP's exalted
list of Most Hard-Earned and Pleasing Little Gaggle of Wins This Season, or "MHEPLGWTS" as we like
to call it for ease of reference.
Story Developing - According to The Associated Press, Togo's government released a
statement on national television tonight confirming 28 critical injuries and 'at least six' deaths
of players from the Etoile Filante team after a coach bus flipped over, fell down a ravine and
caught fire.
Reaction is still pouring in after UEFA disciplinary committee announced that England forward
Wayne Rooney has been banned for all of England's Group stages in the Euro 2012 tournament.
No one expected such a hash judgement and you can be sure that the ruling is the beginning of a
debate that will not end any time soon.
I could say that Milan are normally slow starters to the league however, that would be turning a
blind eye to the fact that Juventus and Napoli are the teams to beat this season.
So after collecting 5 points from from games this so far, Milan are in position 15 with city
rivals Inter 2 places behind them in the relegation zone with 4 points.

It's Monday... which means it's time for La Liga Lunes! The sad news, of course, comes
from the Barca camp where they have announced their new Chilean signing,
Alexis Sanchez, will be sidelined for two months. He suffered a torn hamstring in
his right leg which is the most common injury among runners.

Following on from Man City bigwig Gary Cook's distasteful email cock-up comes the bizarre news
that another cancer-related story seems to have been a total hoax.
It had been widely reported in the media that former Fulham and Sunderland midfielder Steed
Malbranque had recently decided to quit football altogether in order to care for his son, who had
been diagnosed with cancer.

Although most footballers have a 'cavalier' approach to marriage that isn't necessarily what the
church had in mind when it invented the institution, there is the occasional union that helps us
retain our faith. Raul & Mamen Sanz, say. Xabi Alonso & Nagore Aranburu.
I admit that my prediction on the lineup against Blackburn was not the best, getting it wrong about
Doyle and Ward, but at least I nailed the result. And what a good result it was! Firstly. Some sad
news reached us last week as Frank Munro one of the best players in Wolves ever [...]

Bit of terribly sad news to start the morning in that Naoki Matsuda, one of the stars of Japan's
2002 World Cup run and a veteran of 40 international caps, has died today after suffering a
heart-attack and collapsing just 15 minutes into a training session with his club, Matsumoto
Yamaga, two days ago.

It is sad news that yesterday there was the retirement of one of the superstars of the Premier
League. Today we take a look at Vieira's best bits: Best goals Best fight Best interview Patrick,
you will be missed.

Into preseason on this weeks show. Another new signing to talk about and lots of listener emails
to read out. Some sad news to start the show, but the mood gets better as Twiggs gets into player
interviews and LUFC stuff including a game report from the Falkirk friendly plus the manager's
comments on the game.

Some awfully sad news this afternoon folks.
According to the BBC, two girders buckled and part of a stand at FC Twente's Grolsch Veste
stadium collapsed during redevelopment work this afternoon, killing one person instantly and
injuring 'over a dozen' more with three treated at the scene and 10 more rushed to Enschede
hospital.
I talked to Alexi Lalas the other day for an SI.com piece, a state of the union-type article on
the U.S. national team. Funny thing, I told Alexi, I had this strange feeling that we'd done all
this before.
And we had. About this time last year, I talked to Alexi about a similar piece – and the
conversation went about the same way.
The Copa America officially kicks off today, and like Neymar's hair, everyone
will be staying up to watch the best in South American football as they fight for the
trophy. Of course, it's normal for the Seleção to be feeling the pressure ahead of their
tournament opener against Venezuela on Sunday, but they're doing it in true Brasileiro
style, with the laid-back swag and Bromance in tow!
Sad news for today, Queca is no longer with us... Queca became a household name thanks to his
regular appearances on the Crackòvia show. Earlier today Carles Puyol announced
the sad passing of his beloved sheep via his Twitter account:
Hoy es un día triste para mi, Queca ha muerto, ya era mayor y no supo llevar la fama, ahora
tengo otro animal de compañía, después paso foto
But Capita already has two other animals waiting in line to fill the gap that Queca left.
Not an entirely wasted week for the Beckham babes either. Mommy tweeted an image of three guitars
that Justin Bieber had signed and sent over for Cruz, Romeo and Brooklyn, all of whom are
reportedly big fans of the Canadian pop hamster. Image via yfrog
GOOD WEEK
Glam Fairies: Congrats to Victoria Beckham and her team, who picked up the
Accessory Designer of the Year gong at the Glamour Awards in London this week.
We tend to forget due to our overwhelming passion, that football is just a game. We perceive it
as so much more as we are enthralled every single day of our lives with a topic, subject, drama or
elation that entails of the sport we love. Besides all that, other issues in the game occur that
are more important as they relate to serious aspects in life as a whole.
Sad news for the Rossoneri as Andrea Pirlo who served their club so brilliantly for ten
seasons is moving on to Juventus. His Milan contract expires on June 30th and he's accepted a three
year contract to play for the Bianconeri.
Pirlo was one of the catalysts of the Milan attack who could change the outcome in a stroke with
a deceptively struck pile driver, wickedly curling free kick, or a perfectly timed long ball.
Big shock for SPANISH SPORTS & the World of Golf with the sad news of the death this early morning
of Spanish Golf legend SEVE BALLESTEROS. The Sportsman dies at the age of 54 at his home in the
North of Spain surrounded by all his family. Spanish Golf leyend Seve Ballesteros In 2008 he was

Unfortunately, there is some very sad news to report from our little bubble: Chicago Fire youth
academy player Kabiru Adewunmi was killed in some sort of senseless gun attack the other night. It
just ain't right. All of our thoughts at NSC go out today to Kabiru's family, friends and
teammates.- Greg Seltzer
