It was the incident that happened last season that none of us will ever forget, whether we saw it
on person or on television. However, the sad news out of England today is that Bolton's Fabrice
Muamba has been forced ...

Sad news yesterday to hear that Ledley King had retired from professional football, he was an
immense defender when he was fully fit and its such a shame that he was so troubled with injuries
throughout his career without a doubt he would have been a first choice defender for England
too.
In memory of his footballing ability we've added a video below of perhaps his best tackle ever,
on Arjen Robben, back in 2006.
Sad news was revealed late this evening regarding Leicester City's Paul Gallagher and his
wife, Hayley's newborn twins. Unfortunately the couple lost their son, Luca James, while his twin
sister, Ava Amelie, was reportedly under careful watch at an undisclosed special care hospital
unit.
Some of England's top players have been responding on Twitter to Fabio Capello quitting as manager
of the national team. Even in the handful of responses from the squad, it is apparent that Harry
Redknapp is the overwhelming favourite to take over. Gutted capello has quit. Good guy and top
coach. Got to be english [.
I believe that soccer leagues around the world spending millions of dollars for electronic
goal-line technology that will be used only on rare occasions is NOT a good use of money at all.
That money can be spent on more players, and a fraction of it can be spent hiring more referees to
patrol the area at each goal.
So i was browsing through the internet today looking to get updated on the latest happenings
across the world of sport. Other than football, i am a big fan of basketball, golf, and tennis. As
a matter of fact, did you know that the world's richest horse racing event (Dubai World Cup)
happened yesterday?
Sad news today coming from Malaga with the news that Ruud Van Nistelrooy has retired from
football aged 35. Ruud helped Malaga to qualify for Champions League football in his final game for
the club, but now he feels that he physically can't play at the level that he wants to, and as much
as he'd love to play in the Champions League next year he can't afford to do so.
Gathering the latest tidbits from here, there, and everywhere in between. Yes, it's time for a
glorious recap of all things Chelsea that don't deserve an individual post. Without much ado:
"I've agreed to keep communication open with [Preston North End manager] Graham Westley just in
case I come across a miracle cure," began a brief statement by former Liverpool striker Neil
Mellor. "But realistically, and regrettably, this is the end of my playing days."
It was sad news for the player, and more than a touch sad too for the countless Liverpool fans
who will fondly remember the massive role Mellor played in the road to Istanbul and Champions
League glory in 2005.

We hate to be the bearer of sad news, but this 1-year-old girl suffered the worst bruises (and
possibly a bone crack above her nose) in the car accident involving Germany's
Lukas Podolski in Cologne two days ago. There is some controversy involved as the child's mother,
Ulrike, has accused Lukas of being ignorant (which is pretty unfair to the
striker, to be honest!
Oh man, what sad news - Adam Yauch, MCA of the Beastie Boys, died today after a long battle against
cancer. RIP MCA, our thoughts are with your family and friends.

Football's season horribilis continues apace. On a day when all eyes were focussed on the horrible
happenings at Old Trafford, There was more sad news in terms of racism, with Manchester City star
announcing that he was closing his Twitter account due to receiving racist abuse from numerous
morons. After recent incidents involving Shola Ameobi [.
Some very sad news for the world of sport today. Bolton Wanderers Fabrice Muamba's continued
playing career is in doubt this is according to a leading heart specialist.
Peter Weissberg of the British Heart Foundation said Tuesday that it would be 'unwise for Muamba
to take to the field again' after his near death experience early this month during an FA Cup match
against Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
Several Croatian papers broke some sad news over the weekend: Niko Kranjcar and his wife,
Simona (nee Fistrić) have separated and are planning to divorce after several months of intense
marital problems.
And, our ever-reliable BFFs the tabloids were also reporting that the 27-year-old Tottenham
footballer already has a new girlfriend.
Some sad news for all Villa and England fans as Darren Bent has been uled out for the rest of
the season and possibly the Euro's after rupturing ankle ligaments. It is believed that Bent
sustained the injuries during Villa's barren draw with Wigan over the weekend.
Of course this is a big blow to England's Euro hopes if Bent fails to recover in time and for
stuart Pearce, this could not have come at a worse time as he prepares to lead his squad against
the Netherlands in a friendly at Wembley tomorrow night.
Sad weekend for British football as Nottingham Forest Owner Nigel Doughty was found dead in his
home yesterday. He was 54. According to a statement released by the club, Doughty was found dead in
his gym.
"It is with enormous sadness that Nottingham Forest announce the death of the club's owner
Nigel Doughty, Mr Doughty, who was 54, was found dead earlier today in his gym at his home in
Skillington, Lincolnshire.
Fox Soccer is reporting that Union striker/top scorer/face-of-the-franchise/fan-favorite
Sebastien Le Toux began training with the English Premier League's Bolton Wanderers ahead of a
transfer that will be completed by the end of the week.
As of 12:40 PM, no sources have confirmed this news.
Some sad news emerging from Catalan club FC Barcelona states that their defender Eric Abidal is
set to undergo a liver transplant in the coming weeks. This is the second time in a year that the
Frenchman will be going under the knife for liver complications.
Last March, Abidal made a remarkable recovery from liver surgery to play in the Champions League
final against Manchester United.
Updated with press release from today. This is now official. Statements from
Sigi and Boss.
Seattle Sounders FC goalkeeper Terry Boss suffered a concussion against Manchester United in the
infamous friendly and a few weeks later another while suiting up for the Puerto Rico National
Team.
My word. This is all going rather well. A one goal swing at the Sports Direct Thunderdome last
month and that would've been a perfect ten winning streak since we were duped by both hues of
Manchester at the season's start. As it is we're looking at a twenty-eight point haul from a
possible thirty.
Venue: Old Trafford, Manchester. Date: Saturday 26 November, 2011 Kick-off: 3.00pm. Referee: Mike
Jones (replaced Phil Dowd). After such a great result was over-shadowed by the deeply sad news of
the death of a true Geordie Legend, Gary Speed, I've found it very hard to commit to a match
report. It's with a heavy heart [.
Gary Speed MBE: 1969 2011. With the sad news on Sunday morning of the passing of the ex-Newcastle
United midfielder and Wales manager, I thought it would be a nice gesture to post something that
would give an opportunity for our readers to reminisce about Speed's career on Tyneside. I wrote
the this article [.
Suarez battles with Lescott...
Liverpool had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Anfield on Sunday after fighting hard against a City side
that began to tire as the 90 minutes went on. Joe Hart kept the away side in the game with minutes
to spare after a great save to deny Andy Carroll. Both sides had a bit of luck but neither left
victorious.

Within a day or two it will inevitably be swallowed within the black hole of wondrous statistics
about just how darned good the current crop are (best start to a season since the '61
Double-winners, since you ask), but the win at West Brom has muscled its way into AANP's exalted
list of Most Hard-Earned and Pleasing Little Gaggle of Wins This Season, or "MHEPLGWTS" as we like
to call it for ease of reference.
One thing right after another today. With the sad news of Kevin Goldthwaite's retirement -- due
to, I suspect, injuries -- comes more roster news with a couple re-signings and some other, sadly
enough, players dropped.
The first bit of news is very welcome to me, personally, as both our star goalkeeper Troy
Perkins and up and coming center back defender David Horst were re-signed to new contracts of which
we're not quite sure about the details.
Got some sad news for everybody (and yes it is sad!) as Timbers center back defender, Kevin
Goldthwaite, has announced his retirement from the game today. While some of you might rejoice that
he is no longer a Timbers player many of us will remember some of his other contributions to the
team including a goal scored this past season.
Ahead of the USWNT's match against Costa Rica, it was announced that Pia Sundhage, coach for the US
women since 2007, will be returning to her native Sweden to pursue opportunities there. Sundhage,
whose 88-6-10 record over five years included two Olympic gold medals and second place in a World
Cup, leaves big shoes to fill for her successor.

for us USA Kickettes that don't have satellite service. ESPN3 did stream the Spanish Super Cup,
but not sure if they will show other Liga matches." American Kickettes, what do you make of this
potential news?
Really sad news out of Spain. A day after being appointed Villareal coach, Manuel Preciado
passes away. He was just 54 years of age.
The longest serving La Liga manager, a man with the most beautiful mustache in the sport is no
more. Here is Sid Lowe's post on Preciado that gives a flavour of the man, his outsized
personality, and his love for the game and its players.
Very sad news for the U.S. WNT today as it was confirmed via an MRI that defender Ali Krieger
had in fact torn the MCL and ACL in her right night after being brutally tackled in the USA's
opening match win over the Dominican Republic.
We are happy to report that she is handling the situation extremely well and is sincerely
appreciative of the outpouring of support from fans across the world.
Former New England Revolution forward Marco Antonio Lemos Tozzi, known as Cate, died on Tuesday.
Sean Donahue broke the sad news at New England Soccer Today.
Serie A leaders Juventus came from 2 goals down to draw with Napoli at the San Paolo stadium in
a enthralling Serie A fixture last night. Goals from Hamsik and Pandev in the first half put the
host in the driving seat and in position to secure all points on offer before a resurgent
Bianconeri responded with goals from Matri, Marcelo Estigarribia and Simone Pepe saved Juventus
from suffering their first loss of the season.
Story Developing - According to The Associated Press, Togo's government released a
statement on national television tonight confirming 28 critical injuries and 'at least six' deaths
of players from the Etoile Filante team after a coach bus flipped over, fell down a ravine and
caught fire.
