Julio Grondona and Pirates of the Caribbean star, Veron, presented Argentina's 2010 World Cup jerseys yesterday. So what's the verdict, futbolitas? D'ya like it enough to wear it? Also, Veron had to be nice when they asked him what he thought of the ongoing Bilardo-Dona rivalry.

Estudiantes win the 2009 Copa Libertadores

Soccerblog 15 July @ 09:54 PM EST

Their first Libertadores title in 39 years. It was a come from behind win as Henrique lashed a shot that took a deflection of a Estudiantes defender and beat Andujar to put Cruzeiro up by a goal in the 52' minute.

But Juan Sebastian Veron in one of his magical moments laid a perfect outlet to Rodrigo Brana who caught up to the ball running onto his right.

Copa Libertadores: Estudiantes comes to impegnable Mineirão

Soccerblog 15 July @ 07:12 PM EST

Cruzeiro's formidable Mineirão stadium: Home to 70,000 fans

Only two Argentinian teams have won in Cruzeiro's fabled stadium in the last 34 years. Boca and Velez.

Alejandro Sabella, Estudiantes manager might want to use Osvaldo Piazza's tactics that won Velez their match in the 1996 Supercopa Sudamericana.

FINAL FELIZ EN EL CLAUSURA

TREMENDAMENTE MOTIVADOS 05 July @ 11:44 AM EST
River Plate 1 - Estudiantes Lp 2
Click to continue reading...

POR UNA CABEZA

TREMENDAMENTE MOTIVADOS 26 June @ 11:36 AM EST
Estudiantes Lp 1 - Nacional 0
Copa Libertadores: Defensor Sporting 0 – 1 Estudiantes

Hasta El Gol Siempre 28 May @ 09:07 PM EST
'Estudiantes are more of a team than Boca,' Defensor Sporting manager Jorge Da Silva had said in the buildup to the first leg of the 2009 Copa Libertadores quarter-final first leg. On Thursday night Estudiantes showed that where Carlos Ischia's side had failed against Defensor in the previous round, they're well equipped to succeed, going [. Click to continue reading...

Clausura ‘09: Round 14 scores and scorers

Hasta El Gol Siempre 17 May @ 08:08 PM EST
Sunday's last matches ensured River Plate weren't the only utterly embarrassed team this weekend and both the humiliations occured at Huracán's ground. Independiente got given a thorough going-over as the 'home' side against Estudiantes. 2-0 up at half time, Alejandro Sabella's boys ran out 5-1 winners. Click to continue reading...

Copa Libertadores: Estudiantes 3 – 0 Libertad

Hasta El Gol Siempre 07 May @ 09:14 PM EST
It could have been a tricky tie for Estudiantes, facing Paraguayans Libertad. The visitors are adept at getting on the nerves of sides from bigger countries, and a visit to Asunción in the second leg won't have been what Alejandro Sabella and his boys were dreaming of. It took just 28 seconds for Gastón 'La [. Click to continue reading...

Copa Libertadores 2009: Estudiantes… qualify!

Hasta El Gol Siempre 22 April @ 08:06 PM EST
Shockwaves rocked South American football on Wednesday night as, almost unimaginably, an Argentine club actually got through to the knockout stages of this year's competition (I know what some readers are bound to say, but Boca's place in the last 16 isn't 100% secure quite yet). A 0-0 draw with Universitario de Sucre proved enough, [. Click to continue reading...
