Okay, you can all relax now. Turns out that our hero, Arsenal captain Robin van Persie, will
NOT be sanctioned for allegedly throwing an elbow in the face of defender Carlos Cuéllar, after
all. Had the Football Association chosen to sanction him, and there certainly seemed to be
justification for doing so, the punishment to both Robin as an individual and Arsenal as a cohesive
whole would have been severe enough, considering the awful timing, to virtually end the team's
season on quite a sour note.

From word of mouth to a memorable turning point, a new set of tactics are emerging and,
surprisingly, were even on show during Barcelona's latest win over Real Madrid.

I was following some of the games and all the goals in the World Cup Under17 years old in Mexico. I
was impressed by the quality of some of the goals, which gives us hopes for very promising future
for the game.
Here are some of the goals that really worth watching. I will start from Japan, and always the team
work goals is better than all of the other individual skills.

17 year old Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling shows his class against Rwanda, he
just maybe the player to emulate the great John Barnes on the Liverpool wing.

Enjoying slightly better luck than their U21 counterparts, after hitting the woodwork nearly 150
times in the first-half, England's U17 tyros eventually got their World Cup campaign in Mexico off
to a winning start with a 2-0 win over Rwanda thanks to a ballsy little dink from Everton's Hallan
Hope and a bit of a corker from Liverpool prodigy Raheem Sterling.
The under 21 team of young lions were sent packing by the Czech Republic in the European Under
21 Championships. The 17 year old young lions did better at the Under 17 World Cup beating Rwanda 2
- 0 in their opening game.
England fans left disheartened by the Under 21s crashing out of the European Championships last
night were given the perfect remedy almost immediately as the Under 17 side kicked off their Under
17 World Cup campaign in Mexico. The young Lions managed a 2-0 victory over Rwanda in their opening
match.
Raheem Sterling started his day by drawing a free-kick seconds in as he raced down the left
flank. He followed that up by cracking a shot off the post early in the first half before narrowly
missing again minutes later. Soon afterwards he set up Everton product Hallam Hope with a superbly
chipped cross that the striker directed off the post.
Six of Liverpool's finest Academy graduates will be in action tonight as England kick-off the U17

Exciting wide-man Raheem Sterling is joined in John Peacock's squad by prolific striker Adam
Morgan, left-back Brad Smith, goalkeeper Tyrell Belford, centre-back Matty Regan and winger Jack
Dunn.
Adam Morgan and Jack Dunn both found the net as England warmed up for the U17 World Cup with a 5-4
friendly win over the Ivory Coast.
The Young Lions warmed up for Sunday's opening World Cup match with Rwanda by coming back from 4-2
down to win in a behind closed doors friendly.
England had gone 2-0 up but Ivory Coast stormed back to turn the game around in the second half to
lead 4-2.

Sepp Blatter was re-elected as FIFA's President today in one of the more lopsided elections in
history.
Here's how Blatter's 91.63% total (186 votes out of 203 possible) compares to some of his
dictatorial counterparts:

The path to Mexico City is set.
The United States Under-17 national team learned the identities of its opponents for the group
stage of this summer's FIFA U-17 World Cup in Mexico in Tuesday's draw.
The Americans will open Group D play on June 19 against the Czech Republic in Torreon.
So, now that the U.S. U-17 MNT has had a couple of days to let it all sink in, let's check out the
growing field of qualifiers for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Mexico.
The four teams that qualified from CONCACAF (not including host Mexico) are the most recent to book
their tickets and there are two confederations still to hold their final round of qualifying.
The African Nations Championship (or CHAN) is unique amongst international football tournaments
in that nations are restricted to selecting only domestic players in their squads. The 2011 edition
of this tournament begins this week in Sudan with the hosts taking on Gabon in Khartoum.
As the competition only allows the selection of domestically based players the standards of each
respective international side is a little different to "full internationals".
New Zealand became the most recent team to qualify for the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup, by virtue of a
2-0 win against Tahiti to claim the Oceania title.
Though the Oceania region has only one berth to Mexico, 10 teams competed in the regional
championship for the first time - two years ago only four teams competed in the final round.
When you think of African football, a few nations come to mind first. Nigeria, Senegal, Ivory
Coast, South Africa, Togo, etc. One that would come much later down that list for most of us is
Burkina Faso. The senior side has never reached a World Cup, and aside from a 4th place finish in
1998, have never gotten past the first round of the African Cup of Nations.
Cote D'Ivoire topped defending champion Gambia 4-1 and Congo defeated Mali 2-1 to reach the
semifinals of the CAF U-17 Championship, and with that, a berth to the FIFA U-17 World Cup in
Mexico.
The pair joins CAF tournament host Rwanda and Burkina Faso in both the continental championship and
Mexico.
The country of Rwanda hosts the CAF African Under-17 Championship from today as eight countries
fight it out not only for the continental title but also for one of the four available places in
the FIFA Under-17 World Championship which takes place in Mexico this summer.
The African U-17 Championship has existed in its current form since 1995 and takes place every
two years.
