Sir Alex Ferguson is into his 23rd year as
Man United manager and midfielder
Paul
Scholes hopes he will be at Old Trafford for many years to come. Sir Alex was sent to retire at
the end of the 2001/02 Premier League season but that was called off.
There have been a few rumour suggesting that Sir Alex may retire at the end of this season but I
don't think that will happen.

Isn't it typical, you wait all year for a horse story and then two come along at once. Like the
number 7 going up the Ormeau Road in Belfast, or whatever your local bus is that decides it's too
afraid to drive up a road on it's own so it'll wait for it's mate.
I'm still really sick, be prepapred for a hell of a lot more nonsense ahead.

Any Tottenham fan with a working pair of eyes will have remembered how Spanish winger Diego
Capel was repeatedly linked with a move to White Hart Lane in the summer of 2008 well it appears
that the speculation about just such a move is beginning to start all over again, but perhaps now
the timing is in fact right for such a deal to become a reality.

A surprising bit of rumour is making the rounds in the Sunday morning papers that could possibly
have some legs. Reports are linking the recently departed Chivas USA manager Preki to the vacancy
on the Toronto FC bench.
The merit that this rumour has is that Preki, or Predrag Radosavljevic for our Serbian readers, was
a long time teammate of Mo Johnston's at KC Wizards.

A kick in the stomach. There's no better way to describe a game where, with a squad decimated by
injuries, Liverpool went to Lyon and totally dominated. With better finishing, the contest should
have been over by half time and when Ryan Babel scored, it looked as if Liverpool were going to get
a much merited win.

John Arne Riise would (apparently) like to return to Anfield in January. Would the Norwegian be a
good addition to the team, or is Liverpool well covered on the left?
There doesn't appear to be any official source for this rumour but I think it's worth discussing
anyway.

This week and continuing from the close of the summer transfer window Arsenal have been linked
with many players, the majority being more young possible acquisitions. However today I have set
out to attempt to reveal what players are realistic signings in January.

Irrespective of what some would have you believe, it is foolhardy to try and predict at an early
age which players can make it at any professional club, let alone one with Liverpool's
ambitions.
This should be the principle underlying any talk about the prospects of those players at the
academy or in the reserves.

Derby day was massive this year because for the first time in decades City were tipped to
actually stand a chance not because of derby day unpredictability, but because they actually had
good players.
For us to batter them like we did for the second half really should have put them in their place
but it looked as though the bragging rights had been stolen away from us when Rio Ferdinand
bizarrely chose to try to flick the ball over Craig Bellamy's head which lead to City's last minute
equaliser.

possibility.

The first quarter of the season has brought many positives for Manchester City, perhaps none more
satisfying than the return of academy product Michael Johnson.
The young midfielder made a substitute appearance in the 3-1 win against West Ham and was then on
the bench for the visits to Aston Villa and Wigan Athletic.

Reports in this morning's papers – most notably on the back page of the Times – suggest that
Chelsea are pushing the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to suspend FIFA's transfer ban while
its appeal is being considered, freeing the club up to make purchases in January.
The Times' report suggests that Chelsea are already drawing up a list of targets which includes
David Villa, Daniele De Rossi, Middlesbrough's Adam Johnson and, most worryingly, Emile Heskey.

Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on Rene Krhin amid speculation connecting the Inter Milan
midfielder with a move to Liverpool.
The Slovenian teenager is regarded as an exciting prospect for the future and Liverpool are
understood to be monitoring his situation at Inter.
However, the Reds are likely to find it difficult to prise him away from Inter as he still figures
in the plans of Mourinho.

Enter Sasha McDonnell, the first professional woman player who caught my attention, somewhat by
accident a few years ago. One of the reasons I came across her was she's a Brisbane girl, so I was
mightily annoyed last year when she signed with Canberra.

The way I discovered she had signed for Brisbane this season, believe it or not, was Wikipedia,
which also had the W-League table updated before the official A-League site.

It was the sort of goal that you would expect the team leading 2-1, rather than those chasing
the game at the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline, to get. Catching the opposition out on the break with
a swift counter-attack in the 90th minute to put the gloss on a convincing 3-1 triumph.
