If It's Broke, Don't Bother Fixing It?

0
Via Goff: The search for new players is underway. An agent with Central American connections stopped by the ballpark this evening. No names to share, but rest assured, DCU will scan dozens of portfolios the next few months.Because adding a boatload of foreign "talent" worked so well for us this year, right? Ljungberg Critiqued, this time the “age old” question

2
Earlier I covered the concern over Ljungberg's good lucks, and the legitimate concern over his health. As the rumors seem more and more likely to be true, it also seems equally likely that Freddie will be one of the team's Designated Players - yes I'm still hoping for another. The latest batch in the criticism [. Click to continue reading...

Rumors hot and heavy this week

4
Ljungberg, obviously is the heavy. With two separate sites and two separate sources. I've written much lately. Freddy Montero is another quality player rumored to be coming to the Rave Green kits next year. GoalSeattle had it on October 12th. Today we find out that via another Spanish language site that this [. Click to continue reading...

Ljungberg potential signing critiqued, but why?

3
There is bound to be backlash at literally ANY Designated Players signing, but I'm a bit surprised at the amount that the possibilities of Freddie Ljungberg and the response around the net. This concern is both genuine and concerning. The genuine concern is over his health, because there are serious questions about it, questions that [. Click to continue reading...

Prince Henry Fabulous He (Henry Transfer Rumor thread)

2
It started with British tabloids like the Sun with their rumoring of 150,000 Pounds a week, or about 12 Million Dollars a year. We all scoffed, and yet still our hearts got a little flutter of hope. Seattle is being connected with one of the top 20 players in the game. A [...] Click to continue reading...

All The Bull: Mbuta, Van Den Bergh, Magee and More . . .

2

Good evening. After taking the day off of work to snag some fish on my family boat, and capping the night off with some roller hockey, I am about ready to collapse. What kept me awake? The Emergency Broadcast System. That noise bugs me out to no end - so damn creepy.

So here I am, wide awake.

ALL THE BULL: International Call Ups, Exantus, and more

5

Hey everyone. I am back.

There has been some construction in my office that forced me off the internet for nearly four days. I never knew technology could cause withdrawals . . . . but here I am, back to the old bloggeroo.

And here is some stuff I've missed (and maybe you have too) this week:

+ As some of you already know, Gabe Cichero and Jorge Rojas won't be there for the leagues induction of RSL's new soccer specific stadium.

Jorge Rojas Update

2

As you may have heard, Jorge Rojas had some visa problems while playing with his Venezuelan National side, and could not reenter the US. Long story short - his passport was found to be damaged to the point of possible forgery back in his native land, and refused his right to travel. Once they found out who he was, his visa was reinstated in ONE DAY.

Forward Targets Finally Revealed

3

Brian Lewis of the New York Post always seems to have the scoop. And this week is no different.

For those who have been asking, here is the dealio:

- The Atlanta Silverbacks are still asking for the absurd transfer fee of 200k for their elite forward, Macoumba Kanji (just a side note - his first name is pronounced the same way as an ancient Brazilian voodoo practice).

Another Brick in the Wall?

2
Yet another midfielder is coming in on trial for United? Oh, I get it! The FO's master plan is to build a giant wall of bodies in midfield to protect the depth-starved defense and inadequate goalkeeper. Mayhap our fearless leaders have been watching too many movies lately? Ugh. Click to continue reading...

Roster Roundup - The Knives are Out!

0
Over at SBI, Ives says his sources tell him United is actively shopping one of their midfielders after picking up Vide. What's the over/under on Dyachenko? The only other one I think we might be looking to unload would be the disappointing Kirk, considering we're entertaining a new right mid on trial. Click to continue reading...

Another Loss, Another Signing: Gabriel Cichero

4

So this theory has gone from a comical hypothetical to a head slapping reality: Every Bulls loss seems to result in some International signing.

This weeks band aid is Gabriel Cichero. Cichero will be with us through the end of the year, and has an option year for 2009. ABN in Bolivia broke the story yesterday.

No Kidding - Diego Jimenez is a Red Bull

3

Ladies and Gentlemen, left back may have just been filled. With a left foot.

Young Mexican Diego Jimenez, former starter for Tecos and the Mexican Under 23 Nationals, is on his way to New Jersey, so says Brian Lewis at the Post (great blog by the way). The best part? He already has a green card - so none of that waiting forever to see him on the pitch stuff.

The Highest Highs, The Lowest Lows

0

There we were, watching the Bulls masterfully control the tempo of the game, on the road, against a dangerous Chivas squad. Before you can say "here we go again," Kevin Goldthwaite sends a pass somewhere in Conways vicinity, only to have Metro Killer Razov remind us why he is who he is, stuffing a goal past our keeper.

Its Gabriel Cichero, Not Innes

0

Like a dope, I thought Osorio was thinking of trying out Chris Innes again for that left back spot. I definitely ruled out the one time trialist Gabriel Cichero, Venezuelan National, especially after the organization deemed him to be too expensive.

All The Bull - 6/24

2

Here are some of the more interesting Red Bulls tidbits that have slipped through my ever typing fingers:

+ Do you know we are playing Chivas twice this week? And that there is no chance we will see Guzan in nets for both games? That is because Chivas Guadelajara is hosting our Red Bulls in an international club friendly at the University of Arizona.

Its about that time. The time when the silly season is fully underway in Europe and when MLS clubs are looking to make mid-season changes. 6

Big Apple Soccer had the chance to speak to Juan Carlos Osorio about the status of rumored signings.

+ The Bulls will not be signing Diego Jimenez, fullback, from Mexico, mainly because he is completely unfamiliar with the three man backline

+ Osorio is hopeful they will be able to announce something by next week with Vinotinto veteran and captain Jorge Rojas

+ Osorio also stated that the Bulls would be once again exploring past options at the left back position.

Trimester Season Review

2

Its official! The season is now 1/3rd the way over! How has the team stacked up through 10? Glad you asked . . .

SO FAR - A .500 SEASON

When we were doing our preseason preview, I predicted the Bulls to be 1 game above the .500 mark for the season. A third of the way in, that is exactly where they sit.

In a Post Jozy World . . .

3

Take a look into the future of Jozy Altidore - through the wonderful world of MS Paint!

Huelva seems his likely destination. And that is best. A young man of his skill deserves a chance to start - the key word being "chance." Always keep this in the proper perspective - just because he is transfering to a less than glamourous side does not by any means imply that he will be their immediate starter.
