Wayzata 2 1 Woodbury
The final for the girls' 2A State High School Championship matched the #1 team in the nation,
the Woodbury Royals, against the 3rd seed in the tournament the Wayzata Trojans. To most Wayzata
was an underdog team. "If you're going to look at stats and where they were ranked and where we
were ranked they were favored for a reason, they're a very solid" said Wayzata coach Tony
Peszneker, but added, "There wasn't a great deal of difference between the two teams.

Real's humiliation brings back the faith in the game. These days I have been thinking whether
Florentino Perez is just an amateur who thought he knows football or is it mere
profit he is into.
Simply, no man would make the same mistake twice. Los Galacticos one were
tragic but this other version looks like a group of clowns.

Wayzata 2-1 Woodbury
The Wayzata Trojans are now nine straight games undefeated and against some pretty good
opponents. Not bad for a team with a 12-6-4 record. Meaning almost all their wins have come at the
most important time, the end of the season.
The Trojans struck first 15 minutes into the second half.

For those of you who TIVO'd the Real Salt Lake vs. Columbus Crew last night, a warning:
STOP! For the love of God, don't try and watch this match. Don't even risk trying to erase it. I
recommend that you yank the box out of the wall, go out back and burn it.

Rainy, windy, and cold is what the game report said filed by the referee at the class 2A boys
State Soccer Tournament quarterfinal. But that would be an understatement for the weather
conditions where brutal might have been more descriptive.

A couple of weeks ago you'd be forgiven for thinking that, five games in to a new season under a
new management team,
Reading FC was a club in some kind of irreversible plummet towards
League One. What a difference an away win can make, not only to the league table, but to the
overall mood surrounding the club and its supporters.

It's very early days, but the
Championship table shows the Royals languishing in the bottom
three after a drubbing at
St. James' Park. An impressive crowd of 36,000 saw
Brendan
Rodgers' young side start impressively enough but fall behind to a
Shola Ameobi header
ten minutes before half time.

I know they are not as bad as Newcastle United yellow look, but Readings neon green road kit might
rank right up there. The Royals unveiled them today when they played Chelski in a friendly. Neon
green letter on a white shirt and neon green shorts, just screams classy.

Former England manager Sir Bobby Robson has died of cancer aged 76. He had been battling the
disease in various forms since 1992.
Robson will be best remembered for taking England to within a penalty-shoot out at the 1990
World Cup, but he also enjoyed success both domestically and with European clubs and had the kind
of record that few modern managers can equal.

By Graig Carbino - ALBANY, NY (May 18, 2009) USSoccerPlayers -- We are getting an up close and
personal lesson of a team not quite making it back to the summit and their over-blown reaction to a
tough failure. Reading FC of the English Championship flew out of the gates in 2008 and looked all
set to make their return to the Premiership next season.

Top notch boss decides enough is enough! Steve Coppell has resigned as Reading manager after
Tuesday's defeat by Burnley denied the Royals a place in Championship play-off final. The
53-year-old took charge in 2003 and guided Reading into the Premier League three years later but
they were relegated in 2008.

Now this is a bit dated being that it was filmed during last year's play off run, but that's OK
because the post-season is so integral to this (late night, sleep deprived) post. The subject is a
Wizards newbie but obviously a veteran of the K.C. sports scene. And she's up for getting her first
taste of MLS not because she's a footie fan but because unlike other Kansas City big-league teams,
the Wizards know how to make the playoffs.

Steve Coppell resigned as manager of Reading on Tuesday night after his club's failure to reach the
Coca-Cola Championship play-off final.
The Berkshire side were beaten 2-0 at the Madjeski Stadium by Burnley, 3-0 on aggregate, coming
just a week after Reading failed to gain the home victory over Birmingham City that would have

Bring on next season, this one is finally, mercifully now over. Burnley scored two well struck
second half goals to knock the stuffing out of the Royals, and the home side were left to rue a
season that in January began a long slow descent into terminal decline. A first half performance
was dynamic and full of urgency, but once again lacked any cutting edge.

Reading failed to win at home for the umpteenth time this year and went down to a resilient Bongo
side by two goals to one on a dramatic afternoon at the Madejski Stadium. There can be no
complaints from Steve Coppell's men who were never really in contention until a late rally gave the
Blues some minor cause for concern.
