Manchester United youngster John Cofie, currently on-loan at Royal Antwerp, was involved in a
strange incident when an opposition manager attempted to put a studs-up challenge in on him. Cofie
found himself sprinting towards the Tubize dugout to try to keep the ball in play. When he arrived
he was greeted by coach Dante Brogno [.
In which, over in the Belgian second division last night, the excellently-named Tubize coach
Dante Brogno caused a bit of a kerfuffle by appearing to waggle a foot in the general direction of
Royal Antwerp striker John Cofie's (who is, we're reliably informed, on loan from Manchester
United) gentleman parts as the ball squirmed over the touchline.
With Royal Antwerp's John Cofie (on loan from Manchester United) running down a ball headed for
Tubize's dugout during a Belgian second division match, Tubize manager Dante Brogno decided that
the best way to stop the 19-year-old would be to put his foot about waist high.
So instead of getting out of the way, Brogno let Cofie collide with him, but only after
developing enough sense to put down his foot before Cofie could run into it.
He was once a highly-rated young midfielder enjoying the privileges bestowed on a Manchester
United player, but for Ronnie Wallwork, the dream has, over the years, turned sour.
The 35-year-old has been sentenced to 15 monhts in jail for selling on parts of high-perofrmance
cars.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer once turned down the offer of becoming the manager of the Norwegian
national team in favour of staying in charge of our Reserves.
"I work for Manchester United and my career is going in the right direction," he said.
"It would have been exciting to take on a much bigger job than my current job, but I have a job
at United.

Stoke manager, Tony Pulis, has sung the praises of the Manchester United academy, after taking
on several players from our youth set up.
"I have to say, you look at the players we have taken who were at Manchester United as young
players, and their attitudes are absolutely fantastic," said Pulis.
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has finally made his first signings of the summer transfer window
and, just like the weather can be on the coast, it hasn't rained it's poured, with a total of five
signings in one day! The Seasiders, like all newly promoted teams, are favourites to go straight
back down again, but they have taken major steps in bolstering their squad before the big
kick-off.
In April, when Manchester United announced the £7m signing of Javier Hernandez from Mexican
side Chivas de Guadalajara, few people batted an eyelid. In fact, the more cynical side of me
thought it might have been another of United's not-so-subtle ploys to garner some more
international ‘fans' (shirt-buyers).
If you somehow don't know of him already, Fraizer Campbell is a young, incredibly talented
English forward who plays for Sunderland. At the age of 22, he is still developing and constantly
improving, which is fairly frightening considering how talented he is already.
Watching former Manchester United starlets Jonathan Greening and Erik Nevland bravely battling away
for Fulham in a vain attempt to try and salvage something for their club last weekend one could
not...
Newcastle United on loan full-back, Danny Simpson, has been telling all to Newcastle's Journal
newspaper in a candid interview with Mark Douglas. The 22 year old Salford lad has been one of
football's nomads since joining local giants, Manchester United, with other loan spells at Royal
Antwerp (twice), the Wearside tramps, Ipswich and Blackburn along [.
Nicholas "Niko" Gkionis is a friend of mine, a special guest Online Soccer Academy player,
and has guest blogged and appeared for JMSocccer10.com a few times. Recently we have been talking
and hopefully soon he will be posting on a regular basis. Today he talks about making his 1st
team debut with his professional club in Belgium Royal Football Club de Liege.
An Ostend knees-up K.V. Oostende 1-3 Royal Antwerp (17:04:11) Details are still quite sketchy in my
own mind as to why I signed up for this: a day trip to Belgium via France to watch Ostend v Royal
Antwerp. But I suppose it's what I do, and whoever made me sign on the dotted line together with
forging my old man's signature on the parents consent form need not fear too much retribution.
Everything You Always Wanted to Know About K.V. Oostende * (*But Were Afraid to Ask) This Sunday
the EFW team head to Ostend to see KVO take on Royal Antwerp. Shamefully, I knew nothing about the
home team - until today. I dialed up a Belgian guy called Gerrit. Who he? Only one of the nicest
most informative chaps one could ever wish to speak to.
FC make some noise FC United 0-1 FC Halifax (11:12:10)
There is no government health warning printed on match day tickets at FC United of Manchester. And
there should be. I suffer from terracechantitis; a disease whereby if I hear a natty terrace ditty
on a Saturday, it's liable to rattle around in my head for days, weeks and, I'm looking at you here
Royal Antwerp, months later.
We'll be back next week with the season's first regular edition of the WCR Weekly Top 25. While
we're waiting for that, though, here is the next in our series of Annual Rankings.
1993 was the second season in a row in which the UEFA Champions Cup winner finished atop the
Annual Rankings.
Danny Simpson has come into a side with a tremendous team spirit, not unlike that which has existed
