HARRISON, N.J. This might be something few could have believed as recently as two weeks ago but in a recent stretch of eight days that saw the New York Red Bulls play three games, Roy Miller was one of the club's most consistent performers.

OTF's Stephen Mangat brings you his no-mixer-added drink on the New York Red Bulls.
Paul McCartney, Buffalo, Daedalus, and 90s NBC. These givers of wings are all overrated in their own right (if they were rated at all), just like Red Bull.
So after discussing and writing an article about the mishaps and the brain farts of Costa Rican International Left Back Roy Miller, you figured that would be the end of his buffoonery and we can move on to the home ... Three weeks into the season, you know the drill. We got in touch with Dan Ferris of our sister blog Once a Metro and exchanged a few questions about the upcoming Atlantic Cup matchup between his trophyless New York Red Bulls and our own 4-time MLS Cup winning D.C. United. Here's what went down.
And here you go. Let the defense adjustments begin.
Costa Rica calls in an expected and veteran team to face the US in Denver.
Goalkeepers: Keilor Navas (Levante), Patrick Pemberton (Alajuelense)
Defenders: Juan Diego Madrigal (Santos de Guápiles), Christian Gamboa (Rosenborg), Michael Umaña (Saprissa), Johnny Acosta (Dorados de Sinaloa), Giancarlo González (Valerenga), Roy Miller (New York Red Bulls), Bryan Oviedo (Everton), Christopher Meneses (Alajuelense)
Costa Rica coach Jorge Luis Pinto has included 13 foreign-based players in his 23-man roster for the match against the United States on March 22 in Denver. MLS fans will be familiar with Real Salt Lake scoring threat Alvaro Saborio and Columbus Crew striker Jairo Arrieta. New York Red Bulls defender Roy Miller also makes the list.
The New York Red Bulls were in total control, and looked to have a road win in the bag on Sunday night, but two familiar scenarios played out yet again.
Roy Miller cost his team another game and the San Jose Earthquakes were able to capitalize with yet another late-game comeback.
For most of the match, the injury-depleted San Jose Earthquakes looked nothing like the team that won the Supporters' Shield and scored by far the most goals in Major League Soccer last year. The final few minutes and stoppage time [...]
A night after Real Salt Lake and Seattle played a tactically entertaining game that ended in a goalless draw, DC United and New York opened the formal Eastern Conference playoffs with a sloppier but as engaging one-all draw at RFK. ... Continue reading →
D.C. United left a lot of plays on the field tonight in a 1-1 tie with the New York Red Bulls. It was the first match of a two-legged playoff series that will see United travel to New Jersey on Wednesday.
United took the lead in the 61st minute when a cross from Chris Korb was deflected into the New York goal by Roy Miller, a player who we all hope to see starting the next leg.
A penalty kick save. Two own goals. A red card for throwing the ball at the referee. Saturday night's 1-1 draw between the New York Red Bulls and D.C. United may not have been a thing of beauty, but there [...]

The Red Bulls May Need Some Lance-style "Special Help" for a Win in KCGood morning! The
Red Bulls travel to the heartland to take on the mighty (and horribly-monikered) Sporting Kansas
City at newly-disgraced Livestrong Park(9:00pm ET, ESPN2, match notes here)in a
true 6-pointer!
I'm Sorry, You Were Saying Something About My Substitution Strategy?Last Saturday saw the
lowly Portland Timbers visit Red Bull Arena for a match that was highly anticipated by many Red
Bull fans who had to endure a horrible performance at Houston and a not-entirely-convincing win at
home against the same team in previous weeks.
The New York Red Bulls should have entered Sunday night's home match against Portland Timbers full
of confidence. After a disastrous, listless showing two weeks ago in Houston, they had bounced back
with a 2-0 home victory sealed by a late Jan Gunnar Solli goal. Despite intense competition at the
top of MLS' Eastern Conference, there's no team in the East (perhaps none in the league) that can
match RBNY's roster, on paper at least.
Cahill: CreatorSecond half goals from Markus Holgersson and Jan Gunnar Solli, both involving
new boy Tim Cahill, enabled the New York Red Bulls to exact revenge for last Friday's ignominious
loss in Houston and defeat the Dynamo 2-0 on Friday night in Harrison.
The victory launched the Red Bulls - however temporarily - back to the top of the Eastern
Conference standings and helped preserve their unblemished 2012 home record.
The Red Bulls were full aware that last week's performance against the Houston Dynamo was awful,
and not good enough for a team with championship aspirations. After an intense week of training,
the Red Bulls came out on Friday and showed that they are still very much one of the teams to beat
in the Eastern Conference.
The Dynamo fell 2-0 at Red Bull Arena to the New York Red Bulls, ending Houston's five match
winning streak and dropping them back to second place in the East for the moment. Goals from Markus
Holgersson and Jan Gunnar Solli were the difference, that and the Dynamo's inability to convert
their chances.
There is a bittersweet feeling in the air at Red Bull Arena. Though today's press conference
to officially announce the signing of Tim Cahill will surely nab headlines, a disappointing loss in
Montreal will undoubtedly bubble beneath the surface.
DOOP. That's the Philadelphia Union fan thing. I know, I know - It's silly. They play that
horrible Doop, Doop, Doop song at their stadium, to no end, and they bombard Twitter with the #DOOP
hash-tag. I got one for you, Doop boys! Wait for it, wait for it... #COOP!!!
Coming off a solid 1-0 win against Vancouver, the Men In Red travel east to battle the New York
Red Bulls Wednesday afternoon (?!) in a vital Eastern Conference matchup. The Red Bulls also were
in action this past weekend playing to a 2-2 draw at home against Seattle. With New York one point
ahead of the Fire in the standings and even on games played, Chicago has the opportunity to move
into third place in the East.
The difference in the Seattle Sounders play with Adam Johansson at right back is significant.
While it is most clear in his two assists, his defense in the closing moments is also notable. The
energy from Seattle was clear and the ability of Johansson to overlap a more defensive than usual
right mid (Brad Evans) helped create many opportunities for the Swede to feed the ball into the
box.
SUB WATCH Doubles your Fun this Holiday WeekWelcome back! Hope you enjoyed the
fireworks. When SUB WATCH signed off on Tuesday, we were looking at total substitution minutes
played (smp) by different Red Bulls—particular the current leader, one Victor Palsson.
Surely, Palsson must be a hugely productive player to get so many minutes, right?
Why Is This Man Smiling? Fans Sure the Hell Aren't
Somehow the Red Bulls managed to slip in three regular season games since the last SUB WATCH. If
that wasn't disorienting enough, my wallet is fully of weird looking colored bills and there's
something called a "loony" in my pocket.
Brandon "The Hammer" Barklage, to be exact! The DC outcast, told by Benny Olsen that he couldn't
hack it at MLS level, scored two spectacular golazos to lead the Red Bulls past their hated rival.
A much-needed 3-2 victory, to be sure, and it puts us right back in the Supporter's Shield
hunt.
DC was 1-0 up, just 30 seconds into this one, after Roy Miller was turned inside out by DeRo,
then Cruz, who prompty crossed to Pontius.
Two messages have stayed consistent since the Red Bulls began their quest to compete in the 2012
U.S. Open Cup. First and foremost, they are in it to win it. Second, coach Hans Backe is not happy
with the tournament structure set out by U.
New York Red Bulls Head Coach Hans Backe is ready to take the US Open Cup seriously; that has
been the message since before the start of the season. Now, all he wants is for US Soccer to do the
same.
When Thierry Henry fell flat on his back, clutching his hamstring against the New England
Revolution, the Red Bulls' immediate future seemed condemned to failure. Wilman Conde, Teemu
Tainio, Stephen Keel, Roy Miller and a suspended Rafa Marquez already left New York scrambling for
answers on their starting eleven.
Teammates Congratulate Cooper on His 10th Goal of the SeasonNo Henry, no problem.
When Thierry Henry collapsed to the Red Bull Arena turf clutching his hamstring on April 28, things
looked ominous for Hans Backe and the New York Red Bulls. Yes, Kenny Cooper was having a fine
season since his move from Portland Timbers.
The SUB WATCH Periscope Reveals All!What's that haunting sound? Could it be the
cries of the mighty whale, echoing throughout the deep? NO! It is the keening of the multitudes,
forced to go yet another week—a two-game week at that(!)— without their beloved SUB WATCH! Fear
not, loyal readers, for today the authoritative source on Red Bull New York substitutions returns
with not just a recap of the past THREE games, but also a special outlook on the remaining 2/3 of
the MLS 2012 season (give or take).
In a single match, Rafa Marquez showed why he can simultaneously be a frustrating yet invaluable
part of the New York Red Bulls.
Sunday's 3-2 victory over the Philadelphia Union marked his first match back since April 14th,
when his tackle on San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Shea Salinas earned him a three-game
suspension.
Freddy Adu was having a day. The Philadelphia Union midfielder was toying with the New York Red
Bulls defense, pulling off amazing moves and setting up Philly forwards with chance after chance.
The game had all the makings of a banner day for Adu.
The Red Bulls managed to repulse wave, after wave, after wave of determined Houston Dynamo
attacks and came away with their third 1-Nil victory in a row this past Wednesday night. This one
wasn't a classic by any means, and only noteworthy for the Alamo-like stand our still shorthanded
team made to preserve the 1-0.
In times of great need, unlikely heroes emerge. For the New York Red Bulls, Dax McCarty has
proudly carried the mantle of leadership in the face of daunting odds.
"I feel good. I definitely feel like I'm starting to play like I was in Dallas a few years ago
when we made that MLS Cup run," McCarty told reporters after New York's 1-0 shutout of the Houston
Dynamo.
