During his four years in charge at Anfield, Roy Evans produced one of the most exciting and
entertaining Liverpool teams of the last thirty years. With the likes of Robbie Fowler and Steve
McManaman playing alongside club legends John Barnes and Ian Rush, it was pure joy being a fan in
the mid-1990s.
Former Liverpool defender Jason McAteer has staggeringly claimed that Glen Johnson and Jose Enrique
are two of the best players in the world.Speaking on LFC TV last night, Macca - who played in thew
wing-back position himself under Roy Evans - argued:"Them two [Enrique and Johnson], for me, are
possibly the two best wing-backs in the world.

Apart from Kenny Dalglish's first spell in charge at Anfield, the Roy Evans era is the happiest
I've ever been as a Liverpool fan. From 1994 to 1998, Liverpool played fantastic, entertaining
football, and were arguably the most exciting team in the country. Indeed, if it wasn't for a
suspect defence, Evans' team could've (and should've) won the league title in 1996 or 1997.
Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has played under 5 different managers during his career at
Anfield, and although he has great respect for both Gerard Houllier and Rafa Benitez, Carra argues
that both managers set their teams up to play long ball football.
Carra, who is currently being kept out of the Liverpool team by Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel,
told The Telegraph:
"Don't give me all this 'It's the fancy dan foreign coaches' who play all the great football,
either.
A few weeks ago, Graeme Souness labelled Carlos Tevez a 'bad apple' and a 'disgrace to football',
and was promptly met with a legal threat from Tevez's lawyers. Well, the threat doesn't seem to
have made any difference because another former Liverpool manager has very publicly attacked the
Argentinean striker.
During his time as Liverpool manager, Roy Evans's team had a creditable record against Chelsea,
losing only 3 out of 10 games over a four year period. Evans was clearly delighted by his old
club's recent victory over Chelsea, but a niggling issue that has affected Liverpool all season was
there again in the Chelsea game, and Evans feels that Kenny Dalglish needs to address it as soon as
possible.
Join legends on the Santa Dash

launch this year's Santa Dash which takes place in Liverpool city centre on Sunday, December 4.

A team new to the league.
A team with a backbone of experienced veterans, but also a team with a commitment to young
players, led by a coach who wasn't afraid to put those young players in key positions to perform in
important games.
A team with a tough, hard-nosed style of play backed by a dominating defense and keeper.
Former Liverpool manager Roy Evans has again berated Fabio Capello for his comments earlier in the
season about Andy Carroll, arguing that the unwarranted criticism has contributed to the striker's
mixed form over the last couple of months.
Speaking to LFC TV on Wednesday, Evans was clearly angry with the England Manager for what he sees
as starting rumours, and creating doubt in the player.

Former Liverpool manager Roy Evans was clearly stunned by Liverpool's failure to get three points
against Norwich at Anfield yesterday.
In an interview with LFC TV after the match, Evans said:
"Liverpool will be desperately disappointed, with the amount of chances they had.
Former Liverpool manager Roy Evans believes Andy Carroll needs to improve his movement and mobility
if he's going to be a success at Anfield.Evans, who also believes that Liverpool are in with a
chance of winning the title this year, argued:"I think he [Carroll] has done OK. There's room for
improvement, you have to say that.

Former Liverpool manager Roy Evans was disappointed by Jack Rodwell's sending off during the club's
2-0 win at Goodison, and believes referee Martin Atkinson made a 'poor decision' underpinned by a

issue:"Happy with the three points, but I didn't think it was a great game; the referee probably

Kenny Dalglish resolute in pursuing Liverpool's unfinished revolution | Paul
Hayward
There will be no turning back for the Liverpool manager who is convinced his squad are
developing a formidable strength Not all transitions are as smooth as Kenny Dalglish succeeding
Kevin Keegan in the Liverpool sides of the 1970s, as the current manager would have testified after
the 4-0 caning at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend – the heaviest of his two spells as leader.
Yesterday marked Dalglish's 30th game in charge since taking over last January. The side's record
over that span is 15W-6D-9L. How does that compare with previous bosses?

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has been backed to bring the best out of England striker Andy
Carroll by Newcastle United goal-scoring legend Alan Shearer.
Dalglish has already leapt to the defence of his £35 million striker after his lifestyle was
criticized by England head coach Fabio Capello and Shearer has insisted that his fellow Geordie is
in good hands with the Anfield boss.
During the final days of Mark Hughes reign at the helm of the Wales national team when the
marvellous win in Helsinki and a fully deserved victory over Italy were a fading memory, Welsh fans
would often travel to games more in hope than expectation. Then John Toshack came and killed
the hope. An inevitable slide down the world rankings ensued with defeats home and away to Russia,
Germany and Finland.

Guest writer Ryan McCarthy explores the influence and ideological impact of club legend Kenny
Dalglish since his return to the managerial hotseat at Liverpool Football Club.
"He didn't just build great teams, he built up a club full of great people at every level. He was
the people's man, and he made Liverpool the people's club which I still think it is today.
Liverpool are still a mid-table side - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
It's usually wise not to judge a team after just two league games, but in Liverpool's case it
might be possible to make an exception. The problems that Kenny Dalglish failed to address last
year still persist, and you can expect to see them outside the Champions League places again this
year.
Roy Evans has warned Liverpool fans to be patient with Kenny Dalglish's new-look Liverpool
side.
Dalglish has splashed out big money this summer, bringing five new faces into Anfield including
Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing, and Jose Enrique.
But the former Reds boss has told talkSPORT the side won't transform overnight and it may take time
for them to gel as a unit
He said: "They've spent a fair amount of money and made some big changes, which they needed to do.
Roy Evans is returning to management for a special charity match in October.
The former Reds boss will lead a Liverpool side against Kevin Keegan's Newcastle in a showdown
being billed at 'The Entertainers Reunited'.
The two bosses famously came up against each other at Anfield in April 1996 when Liverpool won 4-3
in a game which has been voted the greatest in Premier League history.

Sammy Lee has left Liverpool, just over three years after returning to the Anfield club as
assistant manager.
Reports of the immensely popular 52-year-old assistant manager's exit began circulating on Tuesday
night and have not been denied by the club. The reasons behind this parting of the ways remain
unclear, although Steve Clarke's arrival last season as Kenny Dalglish's first-team coach
diminished Lee's influence.
