In this edition of the Roundtable, Justin Shaffer, Jason Davis, Dario Camacho, and Tony Edwards
debate the midweek MLS games, including the relative merits of DC United, what happens when
well-known players don't make road trips, and the ongoing playing surface debate. Justin Shaffer: I
was at Wednesday's Sounders-Galaxy game and, admittedly, it was quite annoying not to get Beckham
and Keane tonight, especially after going to the Red Bulls game last year and not.
US Soccer Player MLS writers Justin Shaffer, Dario Camacho, and Tony Edwards debate the first month
of the season, NBC Sports Channel's coverage of the League, and the situation in Southern
California. What has surprised you the most so far this season? Dario Camacho: Toronto. Say what
you will about their current problems, but by year's end last year it looked like they had turned
the corner.
US Soccer Players columnists Dario Camacho, Justin Shaffer, and Tony Edwards talk about what we've
learned so far from the 2012 Major League Soccer. We start with a simple question: what's been the
biggest surprise so far? Justin Shaffer: It's really too early to pick any surprise teams. The
Colorado Rapids came into the season with a ton of questions given the new coaching staff and
roster, but they won their first two games against.
The PSP writers discuss how the Philadelphia Union look ahead of the start of the 2012
season. You can read part one of the roundtable here.
How much will the Olympics affect the Union?
Ed: Before the last camp ahead of the Mexico game when five players were
regularly getting the call, it seemed like the answer would be a lot, particularly if MacMath was
going to be away.
The playoffs are upon us and the latest edition of the KYW Philly Soccer Show podcast
is here to get you ready as the Philadelphia Union prepare to take on the Houston Dynamo this
Sunday at PPL Park, for the team's first-ever playoff game.
KYW's Greg Orlandini and cohost Eli Pearlman-Storch of the Philly Soccer Page
are joined this week by Kerith Gabriel of the Philadelphia Daily News and Press of
Atlantic City writer James Clark.
I'm posting this knowing full well that as soon as I hit publish, Obafemi Martins transfer news will surely break. I'm OK with that. Even if that happens, I think this was a pretty great episode, though.
We cajoled Don Ruiz (@donruiznt) and Josh Mayers (@JoshuaMayers) to help us with our annual Sounders season preview roundtable.
Landing a rover on Mars is CHILD'S PLAY compared to figuring out who's really helping a soccer team win. ... Yeah, we said that.

What happens when TSG reaches out to a bunch of nerds in high places who like numbers, triangle passes, Barcelona analogy misappropriations, Dax McCarty data, Roger Espinosa heat maps and deal in things called "machine learning" & "regression analyses?
The topic of a possible FC Dallas trade, or lack thereof, has been a hot one for a couple weeks. So
I pulled together a quick 3rd Degree roundtable of myself, Peter Welpton, and Todd Date to discuss
the issue.
Unfortunately, the best part of last week was already covered by an earlier podcast. That left us
with the somewhat less than fun task of talking about Saturday's tie with the New England
Revolution.
Since Aaron and I were in no mood to do that on our own, we decided to ask Dave Clark and Sidereal
-- our cohorts on Sounder at Heart -- onto the show for a midseason roundtable.
A week away from the start of Euro 2012, US Soccer Players writers Tony Edwards, Jason Davis, and
Justin Shaffer look at the potential transfer targets, the tactics, and the bigger picture from an
American perspective. Which player do you see as being most important to his team's strategy and
success?
It's been a while since we've had a good blog roundtable around these parts. Here's us trying to
help each other through the perils that is Friday trading: Jeremy Spitzberg: maybe it's the
hurricane... Jeremy Spitzberg: but I'm considering dropping Kun Jeremy Spitzberg: for Torres Jeremy
Spitzberg: requires Obertan in midfield though Jeremy Spitzberg: ddg brown rangel kelly (to be sold
We haven't taken it upon ourselves to do too much in terms of season previewing we figure most
of you are already up to speed on how this is the season that Joe Cole makes his impact and the
restorative properties of Christian Poulsen's alice band. By force of habit, though, we've put
together a few assorted ramblings; Noel wrote this non-preview for SBNation a few days ago and
organized a roundtable with other Liverpool bloggers, so this will serve as my supplement to those
posts you'll notice a few similarities between the questions asked and answered in this and the
roundtable post, so go ahead and chime in wherever you'd like.
A whirlwind couple of days ends with the appointment of one of the most beautiful men on the
planet. High praise coming from a hetero male.
The Chelsea Offside found time amid its myriad of public service and motivational speaking
commitments to offer some initial thoughts on this new era at Chelsea Football Club.
