Why does Germany wear green? The Ireland myth and the truth.
After dropping a few hints over the past few months, Adidas released the new Germany away kit
that will be used throughout EURO 2012. It's green. Really, really green. Like you, we've seen a
German flag before and could not find a trace of green on it.
If you were getting bored with American soccer news and the MLS off-season, then you certainly have
something to catch your attention now. Today via twitter American soccer play Preston Zimmerman set
a debate in motion that will likely be rolling around for a while. The young attacker wrote a
diatribe that brings several issues to the forefront of conversation and there were two points that
should be taken note of.
Legal documents aren't really a fun look. There's something dry about them that takes away from
what they can mean. Words like "whereas" or parentheticals for future reference immediately cause a
glassification of eyeballs and headaches in many.
In the case of the vote for ratification of the Alliance Constitution and Sounders FC Alliance
Charter maybe some perspective of what the Alliance Council was asking for in the Charter and how I
view what it can mean for you as a fan of the team may give you a reason to vote yes to ratify the
full documents.
If there was one thing that stood out from the game on Wednesday night for me it was Michael
Ballack. His performance in midfield was outstanding. Always on the move into space to receive the
ball, spraying the ball about the pitch, getting up to join the attack and he nearly scored twice.
It was a sign of a man full of confidence who is in stark contrast to his "old friends" here at
Chelsea.

Though he'll almost definitely be joining for the football, Paris Saint-Germain have jumped the
gun slightly and ordered 20,000 David Beckhamâ„¢ shirts just in case David Beckhamâ„¢ should join
them when his contract at LA Galaxy dwindles in November.

Jack Wilshere has no intention of becoming the next high-profile departure at Arsenal and has
described the club as his 'perfect home'.
The Gunners endured a difficult summer transfer window, with Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and
Gael Clichy heading for pastures new.
Fabregas returned to his Catalan roots with Barcelona, while Nasri and Clichy accepted the
riches on offer at ambitiousManchester City.
For our very last Non-League Day related story, David Bauckham travelled up to Middlesex for the
Ryman League Premier Division match between Wealdstone and Bury Town.
I was once asked by someone to explain this "football pyramid thing" that I kept banging on
about and it was only then, as a follower of non-League football for many years, that it dawned on
me that there are many football fans out there who have little or no idea that the Pyramid even
exists, let alone what it is all about.
After yesterday's debacle, it is time to take a step back and see where we are, how did we get
he and what the future holds. There is no point in analysing yesterday's match, it is certified XXX
in the minds of all Arsenal fans.
We all knew it was not going to be an easy match but the roots of the result go back, probably
two or three seasons ago.

Yes, it's a thinly veiled advert for the new line of Adidas garb, but here's Arsenal's new
capitano Robin van Persie talking us through his footballing roots and showing us around his old
stomping ground in Rotterdam...
You may be wondering just where you've seen RVP's mate Soufiane Touzani before, well it could
well be the video that circulated last year of the Dutch freestyler embarrassing Emmanuel Eboue at
a charity bash in London with some of his skilly silks.
Robin Van Persie has been back to his roots in Rotterdam to recall his early days of playing
football. He reveals that before all his matches he listened to a track composed for him by Dutch
freestyle footballer and musician Soufiane Touzani. He said: "Because he was inspired he made that
song and that song [.
Not since Zora Folley fought Muhammad Ali in 1967 has the outcome of a particular sporting debate
been so easy to predict. Well, Cesc Fabregas has joined Barcelona. Surprised? Thought Not! The
inevitability of the move was only eclipsed by Cesc's ever burning desire to move back home with
his Catalan roots firmly engendered in [.

Krieger Feeling Right at Home
From Cal to U.
The U.S. WNT has several players who have surnames that are perhaps of German origin: Sauerbrunn,
Buehler, Krieger...but only one can definitively trace her roots back to Germany, all the way to
the mid-18th century in fact! It seems that a relative of Heather Mitts did research for an
extensive and impressive family tree, and it was discovered that one Adam Mitts emigrated to the
United States from Rhineland-Palatinate area (now a state in the southwest) sometime before 1775,
when his name shows up in a list of members of the Virginia colonial militia.
The next in our series on the lost homes of British football comes from Reading, where
Reading FC left Elm Park for The Madejski Stadium in 1998. Our thanks go to Rob Langham from the

Elm Park. We are still very much looking out for submissions on this subject, by the way.

Photo provided by Chicago FireBRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- Chicago Fire technical director and now interim

Klopas' soccer roots are embedded within the Fire organization and the city of Chicago, and he
wants to see this club return to its glory years that he experienced as a player.
Tonight at Old Trafford, Man Utd and Juventus played an exhibition game to celebrate the
career of one of United's most long serving players, Gary Neville. Players came from far and wide
to honor the England international who this season, hung up his boots to pursue a career in
broadcasting, but briefly, I found an old picture, probably taken in 1992 when Alex Ferguson's
policy towards young players was just starting to bear it's fruit.
Starting in the back for the Union, Sheanon Williams has been one of the keys to the team's run
to the top half of the Eastern Conference. Although he has been one of the best right backs in MLS,
Williams spent the Portland match deputizing for Danny Califf in the middle.
And honestly, even if he hadn't come out of the gates so strong this season, Sheanon earned a
lot of leeway from Union fans when he put down roots in one of the team's 2010 problem
positions.
Steve Clarke admits he still has managerial ambitions - but claims a three-year contract working
alongside Kenny Dalglish at Liverpool was too good to turn down.
The 47-year-old is one of the most respected coaches in the game, with former boss Jose Mourinho
once saying, 'I think he is much, much better than many managers who are in charge of teams at the
moment.
Given the opportunity to act upon the Quest 4 Questlove, the Brotherly Game writer KChristine,
two of the crew at Philly Union Talk and Sons of Ben member David Cross made their way to Drinker's
West to try to meet Questlove, of the Roots.
After listening to Questlove's two-and-a-half hour DJ performance, those of the group that were
able to remain through it all were able to get some time with the musician.
As Sons of Ben member Jeremy Sharpe discusses in his newest post at 137 Zomieside, the Sons of
Ben are attempting to persuade Questlove of The Roots to come to a Philadelphia Union game.
Summary of the situation: After seeing Questlove tweet, I jokingly sent a tweet out late one
night about how it'd be nice to have Philly's own Questlove come out to a game and watch it with
the Sons of Ben.

Barcelona director Raul Sanllehi has taken time out of his hectic schedule to reveal to the
waking world that the Catalan club currently have no plans to launch another bid for Arsenal

Sanllehi blabbed to Sky Sports News:
"Cesc is a great Catalan player.
In a much rumored move that is now official, US defender Oguchi Onyewu heads back to the
Eredivisie to join FC Twente on loan through the remainder of the season from AC Milan
Onyewu, 28 and coming off an injury plagued 2010, will be rejoining manager Michel Preud'homme
who we last played for at Standard Leige before his Milan move that saw the defender get but one
game in the Champion's League for the Serie A leaders.
