Will there ever be a Chelsea-Manchester United match-up that won't involve referee criticisms?
Whenever Sir Alex and his side end up losing -- especially in a match with such stakes -- comments
from the often critical Scotsman almost always lashes out at the ref shortly after the final
whistle.

A couple of weeks ago, it was hard to know whether to be optimistic or pessimistic. Many commented
that the general criticism of Arsenal post-West Ham was over-the-top.
But the problem was, that on the 29th of October 2008, at about 9.30, the season so far had
provided enough to be pretty optimistic.

It's funny how when you're playing well and in good form you find things going your way, little
bits of luck that can help decide a game.
I think it's fair to say we got a bit of that yesterday against Wolves. You certainly wouldn't
have put too much money on the final scoreline after the first twenty minutes.

Arsenal dance with Wolves.
An own goal by Ronald Zubar gets things rolling. A fine steal by Song puts Aaron Ramsey through
as he and Eduardo race ahead. Ramsey passes to Eduardo as they cut off Josh Craddock and then waits
for the return because of his clear look at goal. Instead, Eduardo chips the ball over and it
deflects of Craddock and loops over Wayne Henessey for the second goal.

Or should I saw Wolves 3-Arsenal 2? We come away with 3 points on a scoreline which flatters us
a little bit, on the back of 2 early Wolves own goals which put us up 2-0, a vantage point from
which we never looked back.
Wolves strategy was pretty obvious, and wasn't a bad one as far as these things go.

When Wolves emerge from the international break, the familiar strains of the Z Cars theme will fill
the air at Goodison Park.
How apt - because the current points haul is criminal.
What a fantastic opportunity blown. Eight games, a meagre seven points. Simply not enough.
Now Wolves have their backs to the wall as they contemplate five fixtures against Everton, Aston
Villa, Stoke, Arsenal and Chelsea.

English Premier League is one of the most difficult competitions in football and this especially
stands for the teams promoted from the Championship. Only once in the Premiership
history have all three promoted teams survived their first season and that happened
in 2001/2002 when Fulham, Bolton and Blackburn all avoided the drop.

The step from Championship to Premiership is probably the biggest step a team have to
make in football and Wolverhampton are obviously aware of this. Wolves made it to the
Premier League after winning the play-offs in 2003 but were relegated the following season and have
been unable to return to the top division until this season.

One game down, one victory secured, one bad injury - and we're still no clearer knowing which team
Mick McCarthy will send out on Saturday August 15.
I think there are five certainties for McCarthy's line-up against West Ham - Kevin Foley, George
Elokobi, Michael Kightly, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Kevin Doyle.
