"Things that start badly end well" said Franz Smuda after his team's loss in the game against
Romania. I hope that our new coach is some kind of prophet because otherwise it's hard to remain
optimistic after the Saturday's game. Poland lost for the fourth time in a row, each time failing
to score even a single goal.

They hate being lumped together. Which is as good a reason as any for writing about them
together. And, yet again, it's an article that I don't really want to write. Another article about
how the sections of idiots that both Rangers and Celtic have in their support are making numpties
of us all.On Wednesday night Rangers fans got involved with police in Romania.

Sido Jombati extended his hand, and with a warm smile on his face said, 'My name is Sido.'
I couldn't help but laugh. I had just contacted him a few days ago to tell him what a big fan I
was, and to request an interview with him for this blog. I certainly knew who his name. I was to
learn, though, that Sido is as unassuming as he is friendly.

Here's a story that slipped by us over the weekend Serbian President Boris Tadic (pictured
above, center) was charged by police last Friday for allegedly breaking an anti-hooligan law

Tadic and other officials reportedly popped bottles of champagne in their VIP lounge at Red Star
Belgrade stadium following Serbia's World Cup qualification clinching victory of Romania.

This is it! The final World Cup qualifier! Are you excited?
Yeah, neither is anybody else. Let's still hope for a good showing.
As Jeff discussed, Serbia's win over Romania means France has no chance to go top of the group.
France's win over Faroe Islands means that France is guaranteed the second-place playoffs.

From FIFA:
"Serbia secured qualification in style, with Nikola Zigic, Marko Pantelic, Zdravko Kuzmanovic

Ouch.
We were bettered in the group, but we also won 5-0.
Goals from:

Gignac
Gallas
Anelka

If ever I needed a demonstration of why being a non-league fan is so great, I think I've just had
it.
Earlier today it emerged that Bath City have signed a new player named Florin Pelecaci. He is a
mid-fielder from Romania and has played top-flight football in both his home country and recently

If we can get a win today at Serbia, our fate is still in our own hands. Our guys can do that.
Right?

expecting Domenech to go for continuity.

Some familiar faces that we may not see at World Cup 2010.Domenech's French side came up with
another dismal display resulting in a 1-1 draw against Romania at the Stade de France on Saturday.

So, were going to be heading to Romania on the 20th of August to play Vaslui. We will play them
again on the 27th of August, this time in Athens.
A pretty good draw for us. We could have gotten Red Star from Serbia, who I believe could have
caused us some trouble, but Im somewhat confident now that we will get through to the group
stages.

The Champions League qualifying round draw took place earlier and we drew Celtic. I guess the
plus point of that is the lack of travel, if we had to go to Romania for a midweek fixture it would
probably take a fair bit out of the team but in comparison, Glasgow is nowhere near as far
away.
It will not be easy at all, Celtic are a decent team, nothing special, but at Celtic Park they
are not too easy to beat.
