Bitter and Blue 13 November @ 03:40 AM EST
Hard to keep him out of the headlines at the moment:

They had hoped to dissuade Robinho from reporting for international duty but relented after agreeing to send their own doctor with him so the injury could be assessed by Brazil's medical staff.

City had hoped Robinho would then fly back with them but have had to relent further, agreeing to him staying with Brazil – although they did not expect him to fly on to Oman for next Tuesday's match.

Sickening arm injury Hopefully your breakfast has digested before you decide to watch this video. More trouble for Costa Rica

Soccer By Ives 06 October @ 11:09 AM EST

Just when you thought Costa Rica's World Cup qualifying hopes couldn't get any worse, they manage to get worse.

Just a week after seeing head coach fired Rodrigo Kenton and replaced by Rene Simoes, the "Ticos' have now lost standout central midfielder Celso Borges for the remainder of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying after he suffered an injury while playing with Norwegian club team Fredrickstad, an injury he blamed on the artificial turf.

Ticos Miss a Chance to Make a Shrewd Move

Center Holds It 22 September @ 05:20 PM EST
5 games into the hex, Costa Rica were in perfect position. They were on top of the group with 12 points, winning all three of their home fixtures, and were the only team in the hex to win a game on the road. This, along with their undefeated record in the previous stage had Ticos the world over dreaming of success in the hex and in South Africa. Click to continue reading...

The Tico bubble bursts - Kenton the first casualty

HexagonalBlog 18 September @ 03:53 AM EST
I had alluded in a tweet to my assessment of the Rodrigo Kenton denouement, but I'll state it again here: Rodrigo Kenton was the first casualty of the Costa Rican national team's overinflated expectations. Nothing has changed all that much with the team in the 14 months he was at the helm, but the results obtained in the first half of his tenure set up fans and media in Costa Rica for a crushing disappointment in the second half. La Selección de Costa Rica ya tiene técnico: René Simoes

Kenton Sacked: Maybe Bradley Isn’t So Bad After All?

Major League Soccer Talk 15 September @ 10:38 AM EST

One of the interesting features of CONCACAF is how quickly some of the national teams go through coaches. Bob Bradley is the longest tenured coach of a major nation in the region while the US' opponents continue to react or dare I say over react to every result.

Costa Rica has sacked Rodrigo Kenton just days after a loss to El Salvador.

What a difference three months makes.
