Durante el encuentro de ésta tarde en el Azteca ante el Puebla, hubo un choque de
cabezas entre los jugadores Ismael RodrÃguez del América y Rodrigo Salinas del Puebla en el

I had alluded in a tweet to my assessment of the Rodrigo Kenton denouement, but I'll state it again
here: Rodrigo Kenton was the first casualty of the Costa Rican national team's overinflated
expectations. Nothing has changed all that much with the team in the 14 months he was at the helm,
but the results obtained in the first half of his tenure set up fans and media in Costa Rica for a
crushing disappointment in the second half.

Rene Simoes is now the coach of the Costa Rican National Team, replacing Rodrigo Kenton who was
fired earlier this week. Simoes's opening game will be against Trinidad & Tobago, before what will
likely be a crucial away game against the United States at RFK Stadium on October 14th in an
attempt to avoid a playoff with the fifth-place CONMEBOL team.

Barely a week after saying that Rodrigo Kenton wasn't going anywhere, the Costa Rican football
federation announced this afternoon that Kenton has been fired. No replacement has been named yet,
but they're looking at some heavyweights, such as Beenhakker, Westerhof, La Volpe, and Meza, among
