Webb and Ovrebo add more fuel to the ref fire

SoccerLens 07 May @ 02:18 PM EST

Graham Poll was quick to speak about Howard Webb's decision to award a penalty to Manchester United when the club was 2-0 down against Tottenham Hotspur.

Of course Manchester United were fortunate to be awarded a penalty by Howard Webb - even at full speed it appeared clear that Heurelho Gomes played the ball away from Michael Carrick's feet.

Fingers Crossed!

The Offside: Manchester United 07 May @ 07:52 AM EST

Just a quick piece of news that I've just heard. In the aftermath of Darren Fletcher's red card, it seemed like there was little hope that he'd feature in Rome on 27 May. But yesterday, UEFA secretary David Taylor offered some hope, basically saying that if United offered an appeal on the grounds of exceptional circumstances, UEFA could pass it onto a disciplinary committee.

It was reported after the game that the Scot would be unable to appeal the decision but a possible silver lining would be the referee's match report.

Arsenal vs Manchester United: Half-time report, what a difference a referee can make

The Gunning Hawk 05 May @ 02:33 PM EST

That United deserve to be in the final and are a better team is no mystery after these two games but I have to be frank with you, I didn't do my homework in the match preview and didn't know it was going to be Mr. Roberto Rosetti to referee our game. As soon as I realised it, well, I knew what this half was going to be.

Fergie Butters Up Ref To Keep Full Squad For The Final

Republik Of Mancunia 05 May @ 04:00 AM EST

When ABUs talk about our win in the Nou Camp in 1999, they will refer to it as "lucky", thank to the two winning goals we scored, without any luck, in injury time. Ahead of kick-off that evening, I felt anything but lucky, with probably our two most effective players, Paul Scholes and Roy Keane, sitting out through suspension.

Spain are Champions of Europe

Euro 2008 Final

Spain 1 - 0 Germany

It wasn't the most exciting or goal-filled game of the tournament, but Spain won't mind as they held on for a 1-0 win over Germany for their first European Championship in 44 years. Fernando Torres, who was overshadowed by his strike partner David Villa in the previous rounds,
scored the winning goal for Spain.

Thank God Jens Isn’t Too Bitter

Sniffing The Touchline 30 June @ 07:00 AM EST
Because that was our main concern after watching Germany spectacularly fail in last night's Euro 2008 final. It's always pretty embarrassing if the first thing the losing team do is complain about trivialities and behave in a totally juvenile and ungracious manner. Oh but wait, wasn't good old Jens Lehmann an Arsenal player for a good few years? Click to continue reading...

mCalcio 24 June @ 06:19 PM EST
Meager consolation for Azzurri fans, but the Euro 2008 final will indeed be represented by Italy... somehow. Serie A refere Roberto Rosetti (who so far impeccably officiated Switzerland vs. Czech Republic, Greece vs. Russia, and the Croatia vs. Turkey quarter-finals) has been picked by UEFA as "the man in black" for the final game of [.
