Stoke City 0-1 Sunderland Premier League 4th February 2012
Martin O'Neill's Black Cats continued their ascent of the table on Saturday against Stoke,
although the very harsh sending-off of Robert Huth on half-time was undeniably a game-changing
moment.
Tony Pulis' Technical Area Tony Pulis was so unhappy with Robert Huth's red card against Sunderland
that he emailed Match of the Day attaching a photo showing that the big defender's boots didn't
make contact with David Meyler. Quite why the Potters boss thought MOTD would be lacking camera
angles of the incident is unclear, [.
Stoke City defender Robert Huth admits that getting anything out of tomorrow evening's trip to
Old Trafford will be difficult but hopes that Manchester United are not at their best.
Huth, who is aware that the Potters have not defeated United in over 30 years, has seen the
defending champions bounce back strongly from every setback and is worried that a backlash awaits
following this weekend's 2-1 FA Cup defeat at Liverpool.

"I think I'm in danger of repeating myself here," said Kenny Dalglish when asked one question too
many about his team's failure to break down a stubborn Stoke City side.
Over 44,000 Liverpudlians might have thought something similar after seeing their team's seventh
draw in 11 league matches at Anfield this season.

Robert Huth is aware that walking out of Eastlands with a result tomorrow night will be a
massive challenge for Stoke City as they visit Premier League leaders Manchester City.
The Potters have won all of their last four league matches while also progressing to the next
stage of the Europa League.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-2 Stoke City Premier League 17th December 2011
You have to hand it to Tony Pulis, you really do. For all the (often justified) criticism of his
team's tactics and style of play, Stoke continue to ground out decent results season after season,
never looking like getting themselves embroiled in a relegation dogfight.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, can take away from the sheer, singular brilliance of Suarez's swirling
strike, but I wanted to highlight the contributions of those involved in the build-up, specifically
three off-the-ball runs and two cross-field passes. Mostly to ensure they don't get lost in the
utter majesty of the finish.
Andre Dos Santos skills
Holy Saint: As per Arsenal, they haven't exactly decided to park the bus come transfer deadline,
and have signed not dos but three players.
Park Chu Young: The South Korean captain from relegated Monaco is a makeshift
signing for Joel Campbell who was denied a work permit.

Our next View from the Enemy on our final day is with Jon Owen from Why Delilah who has spoken
to us about the highs and lows of last season.
Scott the Red: Were you happy with your team's performance last season?
John Owen: Very. It was disappointing not to finish in the top half, but it was another season
of progress for us.
Quick Reminder, Real Life Fortress at home, inept on the road. Slightly fewer wins than losses.
Slightly fewer scored than allowed. By far the fewest goals allowed in the bottom half of the table
(their 48 were 8 fewer than next closest Bolton). Lots of tall players and lots of bruising
defending.

Flares? Shamless play-acting? Neo-Nazism? It truly was a European night at the Britannia
yesterday evening, with Stoke securing themselves a narrow first-leg lead in their Europa League
third-round qualifying tie with Hajduk Split courtesy of a Jonathan Walters header.

Although Stoke are not the prettiest team to watch, and are not exactly everyone's cup of tea when
it comes to the manner in which they conduct themselves on the pitch (with Robert Huth not doing
them any favours with his elbow early on in the game at the weekend), they certainly had earned the
right to get to the final of the FA Cup.
The Game "It is more rugby on the goalkeepers than football. When you see the way Shawcross kicked
Heurelho Gomes, how Robert Huth pushed Gomes in the goal, you cannot say that is football anymore"

He originates from East Berlin, but this wall still stands. Robert Huth is the player to pay
attention to tonight. Not only for the forward going players of Wolves, but especially the
defenders. Huth has scored six goals in the Premiere League for Stoke City this season and three
goals in the FA-Cup.

Stoke City booked its place in the FA Cup final after thrashing Bolton Wanderers 5-0 today at
Wembley today. The final will be the first in the Northwest club's 148-year history as they are
set to clash with Manchester City after Yaya Toure's goal gave the Blues a win over cross-town
rivals Manchester United.
Everybody knows where Stoke are going to be dangerous tomorrow and Spurs' defence will have many
players to keep an eye out for. It's not just Rory Delap's long throws that cause problems and in
Matthew Etherington and Jermaine Pennant, the Potters have two players capable in sending over
deadly accurate set pieces.
Micah Richards' header sent Manchester City into an FA Cup semi-final blockbuster with
Manchester United next month as they eded out Championship side Reading.
It will be the Blues' first appearance at that stage of the competition for 30 years and they
will hope to avoid the nerves that affected them against the Royals.

I'm currently watching the Stoke vs West Ham FA Cup quarter final on TV, and would you believe

Funny old game football. A week ago we were facing sublime skill, at the weekend passion and
unlikely hope, and tonight aggression and anti-football. It is a testament to the Beautiful game
that all types of football can be encompassed inside 7 days.
We know what to expect from this Stoke team under the tutelage of Mr Pulis, it will be park the
bus, long throw ins and long, long balls to test the aerial expertise of our defence.
1. He may have been misfiring of late and he may not be in the best of form, but what a strike with
which to answer your critics. There's no doubting it: David Silva's arse is back to his best. 2.
Oh, Wayne Rooney's overhead kick wasn't too shabby either. 3. Harry Redknapp might take [...]
Jack Wilshere played really well last night. He did this because he is an excellent player –
my friend says better than Fabregas maybe not yet, but there is no reason for him not to be one
day. His composure in unerring, but last night's defensive role cannot be a regular task given to
him.

Stoke defender Robert Huth grabbed a late winner to beat Sunderland this
afternoon in a five goal thriller.
Sunderland raced into a 1-0 lead after just two minutes through Kieran Richardson, before Stoke
striker John Carew grabbed the equaliser just before half-time.
Three minutes into the second-half Sunderland regained the lead through Asamoah Gyan, however
Robert Huth scored a late brace to grab all three points for the home team, his first seven minutes
from time and the winner three minutes into injury-time.

Luis Suarez scored on his debut as Liverpool concluded a turbulent few days with a valuable victory
over Stoke.
The Uruguayan slotted home the Reds' second goal of the game in front of the Kop to ensure Fernando
Torres' £50million move to Chelsea was no longer the major talking point.
And if questions were being asked about how the Reds would cope in their former striker's absence
then efforts by Suarez and Portugal midfielder Raul Meireles - with his third goal in four matches
- provided a swift answer.

World Cup qualifying for the U-20 World Cup is fast approaching, and one American who is
currently helping his cause to make the United States' roster is Bobby Wood.
Having recently been promoted to TSV 1860 Munich's first team, Wood made his professional debut
against MSV Duisburg on Saturday.
Newly installed caretaker manager Kenny Dalglish and Director of Football Damien Comolli have
reportedly been busy drawing up plans for the January transfer window and are keen on making moves
for Benfica full back Fabio Coentrao, Stoke City centre back Ryan Shawcross and Utrecht striker
Ricky Van Wolfswinkel.
Stoke defender Robert Huth insists he has not received any contact from Liverpool regarding a
possible move to Anfield in the transfer window.
Skysports.com reported earlier on Thursday that the misfiring Reds have made a 'firm enquiry' about
the German centre-back.
Under-pressure Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson and director of football strategy Damien Comolli have
repeatedly been linked with a move for Huth in a bid to strengthen their defence.
MANCHESTER, England — Javier Hernandez and Nani scored either side of Dean Whitehead's effort as
