Late last night, once again Robb Heineman brought us news via Twitter. This time pertaining to the
potential designated player that KC was looking to sign. And that news doesn't appear to be good
news. Heineman says that "unless something dramatic happens in the next two days, we will not be
announcing a DP in this window.
It's going to be a busy week for KC in the last week of the offseason. There's plenty of
information that looks like it will be coming out this week. Let's take a look real quick
chronologically.
Tomorrow, as I posted earlier today is the Supplemental Draft. KC will possibly add 5 more players
that would be coming into preseason this year.
Two quick bits of Sporting KC news to throw out real quick for you.
First, last night during the Comets game, Robb Heineman posted on Twitter that there was good news
on a "GREAT friendly." Nothing is finalized per the tweet, as Heineman said that "hopefully they'll
be able to finish it up.
Robb Heineman posted on Twitter today that pending one more approval another player would be
joining "US". As I was talking about the announcement on Twitter, I'd assumed it was a new player
signing. I tried to not get fans too excited about the move because if it happened tomorrow it was
unlikely to be announced at that time due to league rules.
The day after the Sporting KC season ended, Robb Heineman posted on Twitter that the team was
making an offer on a Spanish designated player. Since then, people have been speculating who it is
that KC is trying to sign. It especially picked up after Heineman posted yesterday that a deal was
done and would be announced in January.
Sporting KC President, twitter tease and actual fan Robb Heineman spoke at the rally last night
also. This is what he had to say... Another one of my favorite moments in photo so far this year..,
Today on Twitter, Robb Heineman gave out another nice little bit of information for Sporting KC
fans. Heineman tweeted that LIVESTRONG Sporting Park is looking good to host Sporting KC vs Chivas
in October. This would presumably be part of the home-home series that was set up as part of the
Omar Bravo signing.

Heineman welcoming us home... Some more fireworks. I like this shot... While some did not see it,
the Stealth did fly over. Rumor is that he had to vear off center because of an unauthorized
helicopter in the area.
Today on the KC Star's website, Robb Heineman was involved in a chat and gave out plenty of little
bits of information regarding the team. No real earth shattering information, but certainly some
interesting information. With the Star running the Q&A, it was a chance for some fans to try and
get some questions in that might be screened if the team had done the Q&A.
Sporting Kansas City announced today the date of their final US Open Cup qualifier against New
England. The Wizards will play the Revolution on May 25th, at a location still to be determined.
For KC the game comes between trips to Seattle and Colorado. For New England the game is between a
trip to San Jose and a home game against the Galaxy.
Throughout their history, Sporting Kansas City Wiz/Wizards have never had a traditionally hated
rival. In the first two years of the league it looked like Dallas could become that rival with some
rough games and the 1996 playoffs, but with the addition of Chicago in 1998 and the Brimstone Cup,
and then the addition of Houston, we've fallen well down the list in terms of rival for Dallas.
In the past day or so there's been some interesting news on some potential players for KC that has
come out. The biggest bit of news came from Robb Heineman last night on Twitter where he stated
that the team had come to a verbal agreement with a defender/defensive midfielder. Certainly a good
sign after the performance late in the game in Vancouver.
Today we got word of a summer friendly for Sporting KC at their new stadium. This year the opponent
is not Manchester United, but it will be a team from the EPL and from the northern part of England
as Sporting KC will be taking on Newcastle United. United returned to the Premiership this year
after spending one season down in the Championship.
Some quick news before I head out to catch the bus.
Chad Ochocinco's trial with Sporting KC has been extended by 2 days to Monday. This is to give KC
to get a look at him in a reserve game, as Monday the Rangers take on the Kansas City Brass. This
is the first reserve game of the season since the league started.
Today on Twitter, Robb Heineman announced that Sporting KC had a new player coming in. Aurelian
Collin, who had been rumored to be coming to the club back in December by The Daily Wiz has
apparently been signed. Collin is a 25 year old French defender who most recently played with
Vitoria Setubal in Portugal, where he signed a 2 year contract in 2009.
I am still trying to catch up from a hectic week. Here are some of the interviews from media day
last Monday. Was using a different camera so the videos are a little smaller than usual. I will
have to experiment to figure out the best settings and sizes.Davy ArnaudJimmy NielsenTeal

Before all the news about the Gold Cup and the stadium came out today, Robb Heineman threw out a
little bit of news for Sporting KC fans to start the day. First Heineman tweeted that the team is
expecting to announce the signings of Julio Cesar Santos Correa and Milos Stojcev in the next week
or so.
Ever since the rebranding announcement, Sporting KC fans have been waiting to hear the benefits
that would be given to the members. Tonight we got more insight from Robb Heineman in a letter to
"Members." Heineman breaks down some of the benefits that members can look forward to this season.
First, if you're a season ticket holder, you're already a member, if you're planning to sign up for
any of the road trips you're going to be a member, and there will also be the ability to sign up to
be a member separately closer to the time the stadium will open.
Late last night, Thad at The Back Post got an interview with Peter Vermes up on his blog where he
discusses a lot of things involving the preseason. So far Vermes seems to be pretty high on all of
the team's draft picks, including supplemental draft pick, Mike Jones. Vermes (and people at
training) confirmed that the Julio Cesar Santos is the same one that was guessed by people, the one
that's played in England, Mexico, Spain, and multiple other places around the world.
Robb Heineman continues to give us an inside look at some players that are in camp on trial as
preseason kicks off. Yesterday he told us about trialist Julio Cesar Santos, and today he gave us
four more names. Two have already been mentioned, the two Trinidad players, Daneil Cyrus and
Sheldon Bateau, both defenders.
Robb Heineman just tweeted that a trialist to keep an eye on this preseason is Julio Cesar Santos.
There are a few when you do a Google search for that name, but the one that stands out, is this one
that's currently listed as being on CS Maritimo's roster.
The reason that one stands out, is because of two reasons, first he previously played in the
Spanish first division, La Liga, which goes along with a previous tweet by Heineman this past week.
Some interesting tweets today from the SKC Wizards president, Robb Heineman. It started late last
night when Heineman posted that a European attacking midfielder has agreed to come in on trial with
the team. The midfielder would apparently be a maximum salary, but adding a play making midfielder
would be a huge boost to the team.
Yesterday the rumor of the MLS All Star game being in KC resurfaced and there was a bit of
skepticism mixed with excitement for the potential of seeing Barcelona at KC's soccer stadium. But
as the day wore on we got a little more information. Specifically from the Star and from Robb
Heineman himself.
Back during MLS Cup weekend, a rumor surfaced that KC was one of the finalists for hosting the 2011
All Star game, and the rumored opponent was going to be Spanish giant, Barcelona. Today the same
person, Steve Davis posted again about the rumor, saying that both Barcelona as the opponent and KC
as the host was continuing to gain steam.
The past two days, an interview done by Andrew Wiebe with Robb Heineman has been put up on the
Sporting KC website. The first part of the interview talks about the new stadium, the roster, and
preseason. There's nothing incredibly new in that part of the article. We again here about the
young designated player that KC is still trying to get.
Well things kind of went the way that many people kind of expected it today, plenty of people last
night were predicting that Jalil Anibaba and AJ Soares would be off the board when KC picked at the
10 spot. Soares went to the Revolution at the 6 spot while Anibaba almost fell to the Wizards, but
was grabbed by Chicago at the 9 spot.
Per Robb Heineman's Twitter during today's draft, the SKC Wizards have re-signed Michael
Harrington. Of all the news today, this is the biggest news of all. Harrington was probably the
team's most consistent player last year and losing him to a club abroad would have been a huge loss
for KC, especially with the loss of Jonathan Leathers in the expansion draft.
There's not been a whole lot of real interesting news lately involving KC and with that news
there's a few questions that have been in my mind, so here's some random questions.
Is KC going to sign Luke Sassano?
The Wizards traded for his rights from LA, but there's been next to no word about what's going on
with him.
