Nick DeLeon spent his pre-professional days looking up to Dwayne De Rosario and trying to model
his game after the D.C. United captain and MLS great. This past week, he combined with him twice
for two notable moments.
DeLeon bounced back from an illness to finish off a pass from De Rosario for a goal, and he then
returned the favor by assisting De Rosario for his 100th career goal in D.
The Philadelphia Union won their first ever US Open Cup game, defeating the visiting Rochester
Rhinos 3-0 in a rain affected game.

I couldn't help but think to myself watching the Brighton v Chelsea disaster at the weekend,

The Houston Dynamo have been looking for a long time to land that one guy that ignites their
attack. They feel today that they finally have that guy. The club announced this morning
the signing of new Designated Player, Honduran international Oscar Boniek Garcia.

Chase Harrison not only survived his first MLS start, but fought through the barrage of George John
and Andrew Jacobson shaped missiles hurled at him over the 90 minutes, making important saves and

So where we last left our heros local football team, Toronto FC are on a 3-match win streak,
putting down the likes of Vancouver, New England and Colorado. With a somewhat shocking draw versus
Liverpool C from Toronto B, there was a sense of hope with the academy kids and trialists. After a
break from the all-star break where Toronto graciously let everyone else in the league have a rest,
we're back in full swing.
So, the transfer window opens next week. And the Revs currently maintain a 28-man roster. What
we already know is that the Revolution are currently trialing guys, specifically forwards. Now,
it's no real shock that Jay Heaps is looking for another forward to play up top with Saer

After winning the first 2 games of their 3 game road trip, Sporting KC had to be pretty confident
heading into their first game of the road trip in Houston against the Dynamo, even though the
Dynamo were unbeaten at their new stadium. The long trip, the tired/injured legs, and some
stupidity though all conspired against Sporting as they fell 2-1 to the Dynamo to close out the
road trip.
The Dynamo defeated their rivals FC Dallas 2-1 tonight in a spirited and entertaining affair at
BBVA Compass Stadium. We saw some ugly goals, some pretty goals, a straight red card and some
handbags...all the things would would expect from a derby match.
I doubt you could have scripted a better start for the Dynamo.
Honduras national team midfielder Oscar Boniek Garcia, the right wing the Dynamo have targeted for
a year, never realized how many of his countrymen lived in Houston until he faced Mexico in the
Gold Cup semifinals last June at Reliant Stadium. That day served as a great enticement to sign
with the Dynamo.
Liverpool have expressed interest in Gökhan Töre following Hamburg's decision to transfer list
their highly-sought after winger.
The Reds had been rumoured with making a move for Töre earlier in the season however, the
Bundesliga outfit were reluctant to part ways with the Turkish international.
Brendan Rodgers is yet to make a new signing for Liverpool but there is a growing belief that he
will look to implement a number of young players into the first team squad next season.
Liverpool admitted that they missed out on signing Gylfi Sigurdsson because they could not meet his

The Timbers' win over the Seattle Sounders yesterday was an epic one. There were goals, there
were fights, there was an epic tifo, and in the midst of all that there were some fantastic
performances put in by the players. With that in mind, the editors here at Stumptown Footy thought
we should recognize those performances by each declaring our man of the match.
Today's Timbers practice was once again closed to the press as the team trained at the Beaverton
training facility. However, for the first time since the beginning of the break, the team was still
out on the field kicking the ball around when the press was allowed to return.
Kris Boyd, who put in an appearance at the season ticket holders event last night after getting
back in to town earlier in the day, practiced with the team today.
Late in the Portland Timbers' match at Toronto FC, Darlington Nagbe, playing on the right wing
in place of subbed-out Sal Zizzo, saw the chance to do something he hadn't done in five months. He
snuck in behind the Toronto defense and got himself on the end of a perfectly chipped cross from
Steven Smith.
Arsene Wenger has said he would bring in players in any position if he felt they were right for the
Arsenal team and would add quality to the existing squad. There are various positions that Arsenal
fans are worried about and think that Wenger should strengthen, such as defensive midfield, right
wing and attack.
