Today the Rapids had a fan event on the 16th St. Mall to announce their new initiative and club

jerseys in 2013 and 2014 (example above).

The Los Angeles Galaxy enjoyed a banner day on Wednesday, but it was by no means a perfect one.
After signing forward Edson Buddle and acquiring midfielder Kyle Nakazawa in a deal from the
Philadelphia Union, the Galaxy learned that homegrown signing Jose Villarreal will be out for six
weeks.
Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has refused to get carried away with suggestions that the
club won't qualify for the Champions League next season, pointing to the forthcoming return of
midfielder Jack Wilshere and right-back Bacary Sagna as a major boost.
The Gunners trail fourth-place Chelsea by five points and third-place Tottenham Hotspur by
another five, leaving Arsene Wenger's side with much work to do in the four months ahead.
Shortly before 12.30pm today @TruroCityTweet declared 'ALL CLEAR FOR CITY -TAX BILL PAID IN
FULL' (their capitals not mine but worthy of shouting nonetheless) and it seemed in light of the
current cloud of doom hanging over parts of non-league that the sun has broken through over
Cornwall at least.
The San Jose Earthquakes took a step toward fortifying their back line Wednesday by agreeing to a
deal with Honduran centerback Victor Bernardez.
Bernardez, 29, has 52 caps for Honduras. He started in all of Honduras' games during this past
summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup and was also a member of the country's World Cup team in 2010.
After the wild final day of the January window and a finish to the season that was reason enough
for optimism, all eyes turned toward the summer. Even with the relatively disappointing end to the
campaign, Liverpool looked to have the opportunity to strengthen a squad that seemed just a few
pieces away from truly challenging the league leaders on a consistent basis.
A lot of things have changed at Liverpool over the last year and a half, and despite the club
currently being embroiled in controversy over the Luis Suarez-Patrice Evra situation, Liverpool
legend Alan Kennedy is confident that things will continue to move in the right direction.Speaking
at the ex-players Christmas party this week, Kennedy highlighted the things that have changed for
the better
Fulham Football Club today announced a record profit of £5.4m and a record net profit of £4.8m
for the year ended 30 June 2011. The Cottagers have also revealed a record revenue of £77.1m for
the last season.
Fulham recorded a profit of £5.4m, before interest and taxation, and enjoyed a 4.
Fascinating article in the Sun Thursday about how today about how Andre Villas-Boas laid down
the law to his Chelsea players.
Between the defeat to Liverpool in the Carling Cup and the trip to Newcastle, AVB met with
Chelsea's four most senior players: John Terry, Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard and Petr Cech.

Christian Hernandez's summer proclamation to ESPN Rise that he would be going pro appears to be
on its way to becoming true, if clues to the identity of a major New Jersey soccer agency's newest
client point in the right direction. Hernandez could become the Philadelphia Union's second ever
Home Grown Player signing, and third acquisition of the 2011-12 MLS Offseason.
Wimbledon legend and former 'Crazy Gang' member Robbie Earle believes that Liverpool should've
beaten Manchester City on Sunday, but he has questioned whether Kenny Dalglish's team have the
right mentality and focus to finish in the Premier League's top 4 this season.
Earle, who was appointed an MBE in 1999 for services to football, observed:
"I think Liverpool will look back at the game and think maybe they should've taken all three
[points].
Juan Mata was the star of the show on Saturday against Wolves. Having a hand in our first and
second goals and scoring our third, Mata was instrumental in a fantastic first half
performance.
As you can imagine, after the game, Mata was asked about our previous run of results and the
effects it had on the players.
Jay Heaps has always been known as a fiery competitor as a player during his professional and
collegiate career, and know has the opportunity to translate that as the new coach with the New
England Revolution.
Brian O'Connell of ESPNBoston.com writes of the Revs' new head coach.
Robin Van Persierecently celebrated his 100th goal for Arsenal, and was only too happy to admit
that it was Arsene Wenger's influence that pointed him in the right direction to become an awesome
goalscorer. He said: "I'm so thankful for having met him because he made a big difference in the
way of seeing, looking [.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has delivered a clear message to the club's faithful that
despite a lean financial plan, he is aiming to bring a trophy to the cabinet at St. James' Park
within the next two years.
Pardew, who arrived at Tyneside to a somewhat pessimistic response when he replaced fan favorite
Chris Hughton last season, has followed up brilliantly on his vow to build on the foundation built
by his predecessor.

With their franchise's MLS playoff debut approaching, members of the Philadelphia Union are
getting ready what will be, for most of them, their first taste of the MLS postseason.
Of the 27 players on the Union's roster, 15 are 23 years old or younger.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has paid a glowing tribute to the club's owners as they prepare to
celebrate a year in charge of the Anfield outfit.
Saturday's eagerly-anticipated Premier League clash with Manchester United marks the anniversary of
the arrival of John W Henry's Fenway Sports Group on Merseyside.
Scott Heavey/Getty Images (Bleacher Report) Luis Suarez according to the Guardian a few days ago is
the rumored target of a £35 million bid from Real Madrid expected to hit Liverpool FC's bank of
the Mersey in January.
The Uruguayan has been a constant bother to any opposition and he is nothing short of tireless when
it comes to chasing down every chance he has to be part of the game.
It was only last December that pacy winger Oktavianus Maniani was being talked about as the great
new hope of Indonesian football along with Irfan Bachdim. The Sriwijaya winger was a bit of an
unknown and thrown against Malaysia and Laos in the AFF Cup he created an immediate impact and,
along with Bachdim and Riedl, helped make Indonesian football 'sexy' with the masses.
Liverpool legend John Barnes has been delighted with the impact made by Kenny Dalglish since his
return to Anfield, saying the combination of an attractive brand of free-flowing football, twinned
with some impressive results has meant the Reds can once again be regarded as a force to be
reckoned with.
Chelsea's Spaniard superstar striker, Fernando Torres, admitted that he did made a mistake in
the game against Swansea as he shouldn't committed the tackle which eventually caused him being
sent off from the game not long after scoring a goal for the Blues.
Although the replay showed that the Spain international didn't really done something malicious
towards Gower, Torres acknowledged what he did is dangerous despite revealing that there's
obviously nothing intentional from the tackle.
The clarity regarding Jack Wilshere's condition seems to be getting in the right direction as
the latest report from Arsenal's medical team revealed that the player have already concluded the
operation on his troubling ankle.
Moreover, the Gunners also informed that because of the operation, the player is confirmed to
take a rest for about four-five weeks out from the playing field, which is a bad news indeed as the
young midfielder won't play until at least late February or even more.
Holden is back and ready to get in the mix
U.S. midfielder Stuart Holden is back in business after playing for the first team at Bolton in
their 1-0 victory on Sept. 20 against Aston Villa, ending a rehab stint of precisely six months and
two days.
We spoke with Stuart in this exclusive Q&A about his feelings about the return, his performance,
and his conversation with U.
It may not make up for the loss last night between the first teams, but the Swope Park Rangers earn
a bit of revenge today defeating the Salt Lake reserves 1-0 thanks to an 88th minute penalty by
Davy Arnaud. Both teams created some chances in the first half, the best was probably CJ Sapong
hitting the post.
"For me, life is just an ongoing learning process." - Jurgen Klinsmann
By John Smith-Ramos, writing from Washington DC
It hasn't been the ideal start for Juergen Klinsmann. A draw against Mexico, followed by a
pair of 1-0 losses - home and away - over the past week is not particularly impressive form.
The Asian Football Confederation seem very often to be the proverbial paper tiger. Lot's of tough
talk rarely equates to any tough decisions or action being taken.
They are very adept at ensuring some regulations are followed strictly to the letter while happy to
shut their eyes to more serious misdemeanours.
It's been quite a week for the Arsenal. Some fans calling for the manager's head, some insisting
"In Arsene we trust" and others sat nervously on the fence wondering whether there is a light at
the end of this seemingly dark tunnel, quietly hoping that their club will pull through causing
them anxiety if not painful splinters!
Liverpool owner John W Henry is baffled by criticism of the club's summer spending spree and
believes critics have been hypocritical.
Since taking over the club in October 2010, Henry has sanctioned big-money signings such as Andy
Carroll, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing for a combined figure in the region of £71million.

Business Insider had this nifty graphic up on a post today about spending in MLS and how it has
gone up. The article also talks about attendance being on the rise as well but for me this was all
about each club's spending.
The league is slowly getting there and will only continue to get better as long as owners pony
up the cash for players here.

Last season, the UCLA Bruins were a young group hoping to surprise many, but in 2011, the Bruins
won't be sneaking up on anybody.
UCLA exceeded expectations in 2010 advancing to the NCAA quarterfinals before falling to the
Lousiville Cardinals, 5-4, in a thrilling match considered by many to be the most exciting game of
the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
By J Hutcherson - WASHINGTON, DC (Aug 17, 2011) US Soccer Players -- In an article we ran last
week, Major League Soccer officials described their plans to move MLS towards elite status by 2022.
Soccer plans with an end date in this country usually end up being a way to criticize the planners,
but MLS took two serious steps in the right direction.
In my life - outside of family - there are three people who have influenced me the most, whom I can
point to as being a true role model for me. One was Paul Oberjuerge, my former editor at The San
Bernardino Sun, who gave me my start in journalism and allowed me to cover soccer back in 1998. The
other was a trainer I had at my local gym, whom you will hear about soon enough.

Two days away from the final friendly of the preseason and just over a week away from the season
opener against Sunderland, and there's plenty time for things to change in terms of personnel.
Discussion this morning (noted earlier in the week by Noel) has a deal done for Jose Enrique and
more talk about a loan deal for Joe Cole to QPR (who's apparently sold his home in Liverpool).
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish believes the club has gone about their transfer business
"responsibly" - even though the club have spent over £100 million since he returned as
manager.
Luis Suarez, Andrew Carroll, Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing, Charlie Adam and Alexander Doni
have arrived since January as Dalglish looks to rebuild a squad which had become stale.
