Birmingham was hard done by Peter Walton's decision to award a PK after the French striker went down in the box from a tackle by Lee Carsley. Problem was Carsley never touched him. Steven Gerrard subbing for the injured Riera converted the penalty and Liverpool scraped a draw.

Fan Diary #14: Devastation, Red Cards and Horror

EPL Talk 04 November @ 01:46 PM EST

In my NyQuil haze, I screwed up the math. Through some combination of the time change (which happens earlier in England than in the States) and me sleeping through my usual routine of checking multiple sites to figure out the kickoff, I was an hour off. As I slumped into the pub, sucking on a cough drop, I still thought I was early enough to grab a seat and some pre-match breakfast, but I found a room full of sullen Liverpool supporters and a match well underway.

Good times Bad Times

There's no option to italicize, bold and increase the font to 15 of the word "Bad" there. But I think you got the message already so I leave it to you. Listen, this whole global warming thing is sickening. There's also widespread poverty and a lot of kids with AK47 guns. Added to that are extra problems like say the rising Fuel prices, water problem and traffic through the city.

You Mean There’s More Games After Sunday?

The Offside - Liverpool 27 October @ 11:15 AM EST

Seems like there should be a bit of a grace period after Sunday's 2-0 victory over United, but I suppose that's the beautiful, and sometimes maddening, part of football. Fernando Torres admitted what we already knew about his fitness, Glen Johnson was likely less than 100%, and the side in general could use time to soak in the most important victory of the young season.

LIVERPOOL v MAN UNITED - 442 or 4231? Possible line-ups for tomorrow's crunch game

Liverpool Kop 24 October @ 10:01 AM EST
Defeat against Man United on Sunday is unthinkable, and the decisions Rafa Benitez makes for that game could literally make or break Liverpool's season. Despite the doom and gloom hovering over the club at the moment, if Rafa keeps it simple and goes with aces in their places, I fully expect Liverpool to beat United. Click to continue reading...

Has there been progress?

Oh, You Beauty... 21 October @ 01:32 PM EST
In 2005-06, Liverpool finished 3rd with 82 points, the highest total under Benitez until last year's team. A year after the Champions League trophy and the season Liverpool won the FA Cup, it looked to be the perfect launching point. But Liverpool couldn't finish higher in the next two seasons and regressed points-wise, treading water before last year. Click to continue reading...

TOUGH TIMES FOR RAFA & HIS REDS

Friends of Liverpool FC 21 October @ 11:17 AM EST
Phew! Who would want to be in Rafa's shoes right now.Four straight defeats in all competitions, the first time since 1987, an injury list as long as your arm and a tough game against Man Utd this weekend. Not the ideal scenario, in fact, things couldn't be any worse at Liverpool right now.Torres, Gerrard, Johnson, Riera and Kelly are all injured leaving us in a position where Rafa will struggle to get a fit team out on Sunday to face our arch rivals. Video: Liverpool go down to Lyon, 1-2

Soccerblog 20 October @ 09:44 PM EST

I have no idea why Yossi Benayoun was substituted by Andriy Voronin. This has been Rafa's blind spot this season - the easy dismissal of the one player who gives Liverpool its best chance at crafting goals in the absence of Torres and Gerrard.

Also, the equalizer by Maxime Gonalons was achieved with 9 Liverpool players in the box who milled around clueless as Reina fell third time unlucky.

RAFA BENITEZ: A class act, but it could be time to go...

Liverpool Kop 19 October @ 08:46 AM EST
It really pains me to write this, but it could soon be time for Rafa to step down as our manager. With every passing game this season (no pun intended) it is getting harder to defend him or to see where we as a team are making any progress at all.
The team and just about all of the players seem stale. Click to continue reading...

CHELSEA v LIVERPOOL - Preferred line-up, formation and tactics

Liverpool Kop 16 October @ 06:15 AM EST
One of the highlights of last season was Liverpool's briliant double over Chelsea. Waiting For Aquilani

EPL Talk 13 October @ 04:57 PM EST

How did it come to this? I'm resting my hopes for Liverpool's season on an injured Italian midfielder who remains unproven in the Premier League. Alberto Aquilani, bought this summer for £20m to replace Xabi Alonso (if that's possible) came to Liverpool a broken man. Hints that he's been training and we could see him by the end of the month tickle at my expectations and curiosity.
