VCU Coaching Search

That Soccer Guy 17 November @ 10:18 PM EST

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, VCU has "fired" (i.e., did not renew his contract) the men's soccer coach Tim O'Sullivan. O'Sullivan has been with VCU for 15 years. VCU won the CAA Title between 2002-04 and has not done as well since. Here are my thoughts as to who VCU could look towards.

European Football Weekends 05 November @ 06:24 PM EST
As we continue with our build up to this weekends FA Cup Final between Lewes and Hampton and Richmond Borough, something exciting arrived at EFW Towers this morning which I'd like to share with you.
Forget your 101 Greatest Goals DVD, forget James Nesbitt's Own Goals and Gaffs DVD (with pleasure - Ed), this is the DVD to be seen with this Christmas. Click to continue reading...

Changing of the Guard

That Soccer Guy 04 November @ 11:29 AM EST

Tom Soehn's term as Head Coach of DC United has come to a close Monday evening when he met with Kevin Payne and the rest of the head honchos in the DC United front office. Tom Soehn did not await the decision from Kevin Payne and left on his own terms.

Now the decision comes down to who is next to step up and be the new DC United Head Coach?

Sponsored any match balls lately!?

European Football Weekends 04 November @ 06:58 AM EST
'Put paid to what you say and put your money where your mouth is' sang Miles Hunt during The Wonderstuff's top 16 hit 'Unbearable'. Well, Mr Hunt, have we got news for you my friend. European Football Weekends - fresh from our tour of the Netherlands and Germany - are back with a bang. We have unearthed some petty cash from underneath the sofa and we're sponsoring the match ball as our heroes Lewes FC take on Hampton and Richmond Borough this coming Saturday. Rams fall short

That Soccer Guy 12 October @ 11:32 AM EST

The VCU Rams Men's Soccer team falls short once again dropping a 2-1 result against William & Mary Saturday. W&M tied the game in the 90th minute. This has not been a good season for the Rams. Their last victory was at home against the University of Richmond in a 4-3 win. The Rams are lacking leadership on the field this season.

DC United of Baltimore?

That Soccer Guy 07 October @ 10:07 AM EST

The City of Baltimore has shown interest in a stadium for United. At this point I know United would like to keep the team close to downtown Washington, but at this point the need of a stadium outweighs any other options. The fact that United has had many failed attempts for a stadium, I don't think anyone will be holding their breathe on this one.

DTotD: Two for one

Dirty Tackle 30 September @ 12:32 AM EST

Today is your lucky day we've got two dirty tackles in one clip for you. That's right, go eat some expired cheese, because you can't lose!

Anyway, in the first clip young Mr. Joey Richmond gets thrown to the ground (0:30; keep your eyes on the background in front of the goal) while waiting for a free kick to be taken.

That Soccer Guy 02 September @ 11:30 AM EST

All is well in Richmond! Edson Elcock, John DiRaimondo (on load from DC United), and David Bulow all found the back of the net in their match against Charlotte for the USL Second Division Championship. This was one of the best matches all season for the Kickers and it was the best match for them to show it.

Richmond Claims 2009 USL-2 Championship

USL News 31 August @ 08:34 AM EST
uslsoccer.com
For one hour on Saturday night, the Charlotte Eagles looked poised to erase the memory of their previous two defeats in the 2006 and 2008 USL-2 Championship match. Both times, the Eagles had fallen behind early and despite late rallies, they had come up short twice. This time, the Eagles scored first but were unable to hold off the surging Richmond Kickers, as Edson Elcock equalised in the 63rd minute and John DiRaimondo and David Bulow scored in the final 7 minutes of the match to claim the match and the championship with a 3-1 victory.
