A Real Federação Espanhola de Futebol (RFEF) anunciou nesta quarta-feira que recusou a proposta para disputar a Copa América de 2011. Ela substituiria a seleção japonesa, que desistiu após o terremoto e o tsunami que devastaram o país no início de março.
"A junta diretiva da Real Federação Espanhola de Futebol (RFEF), presidida por Ángel María Villar, se reuniu hoje [quarta-feira], em Madrid, e agradeceu pelo convite feito, há alguns dias, pelo presidente da Confederação Sul-Americana de Futebol (Conmebol), Nicolás Leoz, para participar da Copa América, mas recusou por problemas de calendário", afirmou a RFEF em nota.
