"WAKE UP!!!"
A 12-year old girl from Crotone in Italy has been woken from a 15-day coma by the soothing voice
of her idol, one Alessandro Del Piero. That's a sentence that doesn't tend to get used very
often.
Jade fell ill and reportedly slipped into a coma while watching the goals from Juventus' 2-0 win
over Atalanta on January 22nd.
Henry to start?
Horrible is the word to describe our last meeting against Blackburn Rovers. Steve Kean's side
only had two shots on goal and still managed to beat us 4-3. That was a dark day in our season but
nothing compared to the run of form we are in now. The draw at Bolton was the first league point we
picked up this season and we're now facing an uphill battle to find our way back into Champions
League spots.
Liverpool have hit some sort of form since Gerard has returned from injury. Chelsea stole a
point late in the game at Swansea and are now six points ahead of Arsenal. This season has always
been about a battle for fourth an it's time for the Gunners to buckle up and pick up the points in
games like the next one at the Reebok, many much tougher games will anyway see Arsenal dropping
points in the coming weeks.
Atletico Madrid's revival under new coach Diego Simeone continued on Monday as Diego Godin fired
the winner in a battling 1-0 victory at Osasuna that lifted Atletico up to seventh in La Liga.
The Uruguay defender bundled in from close range at a corner just before the break and forwards
Adrian and Radamel Falcao missed gilt-edged chances to extend the lead.
Kenny Dalglish may have threatened to axe some under-performing players in the Liverpool squad
following Saturday's humiliating 3-1 loss to Bolton but he has firmly maintained his support behind
winger Stewart Downing.
Downing cost the Reds £20 million during the summer transfer window and despite showing sparks
of brilliance, the England international has yet to score or provide an assist in his Liverpool
career.
This week we saw 31 goals, four red cards and no draws for an exciting return to Serie A action
this past weekend. Cagliari and Bologna upset higher-ranked opposition, Inter's revival continued
with a 5-0 hammering of Parma and Milan cruised through surprise package Atalanta, but nothing
caught the eye like Siena's humiliation of Lazio.

intriguing stories of 2011. (Photo: Chris Aduama/aduama.com)
If 2011 was a roller coaster year of the U.S. Men's National Team, it was a ride that featured
more plunges than peaks. A disappointing second place finish in the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup was
followed by the sacking of head coach Bob Bradley after a five-year tenure that included a run to
the 2009 Confederations Cup Final and a trip to the 2011 World Cup Round of 16.
Psst, you might have noticed we've scaled Pitch Invasion down to periodic lengthy essays and
photo features. We're happier this way, without feeling we need to post every day and with more
focus on crafting quality posts (hopefully!).
But we still find interesting stuff elsewhere every day.
A bit of what's going on in Butt's Brain today... Didier Drogba with a complete revival yesterday
in Chelsea's 3-0 Champions League win. The aging Ivorian looked fit, ruthless, and back to his
best. What does that mean for his ... Continue reading →

Liverpool have the opportunity to establish their Premier League credentials with the visit of
mega-rich Man City at Anfield this Sunday.
Kenny's revival will be severly tested by Balotelli, Dzeko, Aguero and Silva this Sunday, those
guys are scoring goals for fun in the Premier League this season.
At various stages of the summer, Harry Redknapp played down any interest in Scott Parker
declaring that the club may not be prepared to pay a significant sum for a player who would leave
them with little or no resale value.
That smokescreen may or may not have put off other potential suitors for Scott's signature but
Harry has revealed today that there was very little competition to land the West Ham man on the
last day of the transfer window.
Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta has attributed the team's stunning return to form to the squad's
ability to carefully perform a self-reflection in the dressing room.
Arteta's arrival at the Emirates coincided with a worrisome spell for the Gunners, who lost four
games in the opening weeks of the season, including an 8-2 thrashing merely days before manager
Arsene Wenger was forced to sign the Spaniard.

I think it is fair to say that Welsh football is on a high right now. True they are set to spend
yet another summer watching a Live Football tournament from afar, but four wins from their past
five games suggests manager Gary Speed's work is bearing fruit and with the side an average age of
24, pointing to a successful long-term future.
In the beginning of 2011, Liverpool Football Club began to make a statement of intent that was
designed to kick start the revival of the sleeping giant. John Henry made a pledge when he won
command of the club. That ...

The Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has never been known to spend huge amounts on players but with
this season starting in worrying fashion, Gunners fans have piled on the pressure for him to open
his chequebook in January to ensure that the promising revival will continue until May. The North
London club has been linked [.
It's not often I take much from Arsene Wenger's quotes, but something stuck with me in his
post-match interview on Saturday.
After a comprehensive 3-0 win over West Brom continued Arsenal's recent revival, the boss said:
"When you see where we came from and how much we have suffered that is a good lesson for us to keep
working hard.
With no fresh injuries reported, it could well be an unchanged league side at Craven Cottage
this weekend as Spurs make the short trip to Fulham.
William Gallas and Steven Pienaar both seem to have come through last night's game in Kazan
unscathed but may have to settle for a slot on the bench.

Fans and media alike have been reveling in the praise of the new-look Juventus, and one must
tribute the hard work done by Antonio Conte.
For a couple of years now, there seemed to be a perpetual state of skepticism surrounding the
Juve Camp. Transfer market after transfer market, the Bianconeri were still seen lugging the burden
of underachievement.
Sturridge refrained from celebrating for both of his goals. Chelsea has been having problems
getting into their groove this season while Manchester City is surrounded by the maelstorm of the
Tevez fiasco. Yet both clubs displayed dominance this weekend, winning by four goal margins away
from home. Chelsea defeated Bolton 5-1 while Manchester City broke down a dispirited Blackburn side
4-0.
The Superclassico was no classic but it did offer clues as to the future of Brazilian

While Spurs fans have been delighted with the contribution of Scott Parker since his arrival
from West Ham, we were all waiting to see what would happen when Sandro regained fitness. As it
turned out, Jermain Defoe's illness meant that manager Harry Redknapp was able to accommodate both
players in Saturday's 2-1 win over Wigan.
