Classic Postcards #1: Manchester United’s 1910-11 League Champions

A new series to complement our Thursday classic programme series, we will look at football postcards from the days when people lived in sepia.

Today, a Manchester United postcard from the 1910-11 season, part of the "Strength & Health Series". Man Utd won the First Division that season for only the second time ever, under manager Ernest Mangnall, a year after moving to their new ground: Old Trafford.

Our Photo Daily feature was a popular series in the early days of Pitch Invasion, and we're bringing it back for a trial run to see if it's something worth resurrecting. Every day, as in the past, we will pick a photo from the global selection of supporter-taken photos submitted to the Pitch Invasion photo pool on Flickr.

I have just been to the Surfing Seadog forum and came across this post from Retford United striker Carl Haslam scorer of their goal yesterday against us.I don't think Carl is happy at our view of the game, I personally think it is great when players from opposing teams get involved in this way.

Carl's post:

i havent come on here to argue or cause a fight but after reading some of ur posts i aint going 2 sit back and let you say the things u are.

Colwyn Bay v Retford United

Sunshine, Seasides & Seagulls Colwyn Bay 1-0 Retford United (02:03:11) Ladies and gentlemen, Mr Rhys Wynne.... It's good fun and slightly annoying being a Colwyn Bay fan. With its location on the North Wales coast, we don't have any real local rivals. Instead, people actually enjoy us as an away day – particularly if we are an away day in August towards the end of the season.
