Well, I just finished gnashing my teeth, rending my clothes, and dropping down to my knees, head
thrust upward, yelling "Why, God? Why?!" I think now I can almost think rationally about this.
The big news is that the injury is not quite as bad as it had been first thought. Originally,
everyone was reporting 2-3 months, some of the more sensationalist English papers were saying out
for the season.

In the summer, RoM offered you the opportunity to win a copy of Philippe Auclair's excellent
book about Eric Cantona, 'Cantona: The Rebel Who Would Be King', which was won by Ged Hanley.
The biography documents Cantona's life from his time in France to his departure from Manchester
United, describing the glory, the mistakes, the combat and the inspiration.

EPL Talk 19 October @ 08:03 PM EST
This past weekend saw quite a few talking points in what remains the most exciting, entertaining
& most dramatic football league in the world, the English Premier League, or more officially, the
Barclays Premier League.
Any given weekend in the EPL reminds me of a series of highly entertaining films based on
various genres.

I am nearly over hearing that Brisbane decided to loose Tiatto for a week and Miller for 2 in
retaliation for Kruse sending some text messages to them.
Gee how weak the Roar's state must be if someone like Kruse can put them off their game so
easily?
Bit of a shame really.
A man in his mid/late 30s punching a 20 year old because they said things that they don't like
isn't the way to get parents to take their kids to an expensive soccer match.

Dirty Tackle 29 September @ 12:35 AM EST
What's amazing about this clip isn't so much the bad tackle or the retaliation from behind that
earned both Grenoble's David Jemmali and Auxerre's Ireneusz Jelen red cards, but the fact that
Danijel Ljuboja still has that ridiculously unsymmetrical hairstyle that he had way back during the
2006 World Cup.

The Seattle Sounders defeated DC United 2-1 last night in one of the better US Open Cup
Finals in recent history.
The pace of the game was fast, the attacking was decent with plenty of chances and there was
excellent goalkeeping as well. The 2009 US Open Cup Final seem to have it all.

How many of you watched the delayed broadcast of the Champions League match between Panama's
Arabe Unido and the Dynamo? It was quite the spectacle. I don't think I have ever seen a ref in
less control of a match.
This is the apparent strategy of the Panamanian side:
1. Play physical and bait opponent into retaliation.

The PK is really the ultimate "mano-a-mano" moment in soccer. One player faces off against the
goalkeeper. Everybody else has to be outside the box. It's just two men, facing off for a goal
(something that is a heck of a lot harder to score from the flow of play than it is from the PK
mark).

Is it me or is Alex Curran/Gerrard looking even hotter than usual here and will such a statement
risk me being beaten to a pulp in retaliation for perhaps being about to his someone? Anyway enjoy!
Thanks to Kickette for bringing these Pics to our collective attention.

The Mexicans finally have a retaliation of sorts to
dos a cero.
What a beatdown. What an embarrassment.
Five goals in one half.
Holy crap. The shame.
The entire roster should be ritually sacrificed for allowing such a result.
Redemption comes August 12th.

I hope all of you are sitting down because, well, here's something that will come as a
shock:
It appears that Steven Cohen may have been the moving force behind the online "Supporter's
Petition" as well as the website set up to collect donations for his show.
I'll give you a minute to recover from the shock.

Nikolay Mihailov learned that the hard way.
When his girlfriend left him for local mob boss Georgi "The Head" Stoilov, Mihailov made the
mistake of comparing her to a "broken down Trabant from the old East Germany."
The Liverpool goalkeeper also likened his new WAG to a Ferrari.

The winner of this past week's player interview poll was the Wizards' right back, Lance Watson. Out
at practice yesterday, Thad from The Back Post and I were able to speak with Watson for a few
minutes. Watson talks about being in the starting lineup now and his contribution to the team. He
talks about winning the ball back after he loses it, relating it to his former play as a
midfielder.

MLS Rumors 06 April @ 12:15 PM EST
So it isn't just the players like Freddie Ljungberg who get beers thrown at them, it's also
owners.
According to this article from Truth and Rumors:
Drew Carey, the host of The Price is Right hardly had a Bob Barker-Adam Sandler rumble type
moment from Happy Gilmore Saturday.

The Offside 26 December @ 04:09 PM EST
Seems like every time Man Utd play, we get a new story about either Rooney or Ronaldo kicking out
at opposition defenders. For example: this, this, and this. And it happened again today, when
Ronaldo took a quick kick at Stoke's Andy Wilkinson (above) during Utd's 1-0 win over Stoke. But
before we all jump on [.
