Portsmouth’s Nine Point Deduction Kicks In

Twohundredpercent 17 March @ 05:46 PM EDT

As Portsmouth slid into administration, the grim reality of their predicament could be seen from a cursory glance at the bottom of the Premier League table. The club is, of course, bottom of the table, but they have been there much of the season. The unpleasant added bonus is that they are now cast adrift at the foot of the table on ten points, after the nine point deduction pro-rata'd down from the usual ten points to take into account that Premier League clubs only play thirty-eight league matches over the course of a season for entering into administration kicked in.

Portsmouth & The Premier League’s Air Of Dry Rot

Twohundredpercent 10 March @ 08:04 PM EDT

A million miles removed from the opulent lives of the millionaire players and the neatly coiffured executives, the reality of Portsmouth's financial desperation came home to roost. It didn't, however, come home to roost for those that can afford it or those that are to blame for this whole sorry mess in which they find themselves.

Capello Clearly In Control

MIKE JACOBS 07 February @ 10:40 AM EDT
With the conviction and resolve that England manager Fabio Capello put the captain controversy to rest, it is clear that the Italian is in charge.
Steven Howard of the Sun wrote earlier this week that Fabio must lance the wound – before it poisons the body. In his column today, Howard writes about Capello's decisive work in dissolving the problem and keeping the focus on England's chase for the World Cup this summer. Click to continue reading...

Lack of fight main cause for concern for Liverpool

| Post Match Pint 14 December @ 02:15 PM EDT

Anger, frustration, disbelief.

These are just some of the words that sprung to mind during a desperate second half for Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

After an insipid first half display Arsene Wenger's tirade at his players during the break brought the expected response from the Gunners, but the lack of fight from the Merseysiders after they fell behind was the most worrying thing for Liverpool supporters.

Man Crush Alert, Sepp Eyes Beckham

England World Cup Blog 02 December @ 02:52 PM EDT

OK so maybe I'm blowing this a little out of proportion, but can you blame me? Something's finally gone right for the bid! Sepp, the eternally foolish president of FIFA, has gotten his creep on. David Beckham, who traveled down to South Africa in a last ditch attempt to pick up the pieces of our bid and make them into a charming collage, has gotten Sepp's backing.

Certainly, the official confirmation, released by the club this morning, that van Persie is to all intents and purposes out for the season has been greeted with weary resignation by the fans.

I can't say what effect, if any, it will have on the mindsets of the Arsenal players themselves from hereon in, but it's an interesting question.

Realistic Scouser Admits Title Defeat Already

Every year since Liverpool last won the title in the 1989/1990 season, their fans harp on about this year being their year. This season the glory days will return and they will win the title, something they used to be able to claim they had won more than any other team.
