Fairly good week for goals, as only one game finished 0-0 (Catania-Napoli, but ask Takayuki
Morimoto about that). The top scorer table is still wide open, as Di Natale started strong but now
has cooled off so he remains at 9, while Hamsik is second with 7 and that's impressive for a
midfielder.

Napoli's head coach Roberto Donadoni has been sacked by president De Laurentis after a
disappointing start to the season, two won, one drawn, and four lost, Napoli is now 15th in the
Serie A. The club was looking to have a powerful start to the season with new players like
Quagliarella, De Sanctis, and Cigarini, but the team was not producing results under Donadoni.

Let's start by saying that Roberto Baronio isn't exactly a household name in Italian calcio. The
casual fan may not even know who Roberto Baronio is or what position he plays (Baronio is a classic
regista that plays in front of the defense and dictates the play. His passing skills are excellent,
especially his long passing, and he is good at set pieces).

So the big transfer news in recent days is the deal between Inter and Barcelona to swap Zlatan
Ibrahimovic and Samuel Eto'o. The deal is expected to be finished by the end of the week, and after
a 4 hour meeting today it seems the stumbling block is the wage demands of Eto'o (wants 10 million
euro a season, Inter want to give him only 8.

There have been some interesting moves involving present members of Les Rosbifs, who have moved
from one foreign club to another. One of the most interesting has been the permanent move to FC

As we get further into July and teams get further into pre-season training, we see more and more
transfers becoming official. The big clubs are pretty much at a stand still, but the smaller clubs
are working out deals to improve on last season's finish and maybe turn a few heads next
season.

We are now at the third volume of Transfer Tuesdays, and now we dig further into the transfer
market. Most teams have started training again, and the new season is quickly taking shape. Now
with all teams in pre-season training the sporting directors are moving frantically to make deals
so that new signings can start pre-season training with the team.

che merita di essere sottolineato. Richiesto espressamente da Novellino, il giocatore risponde

riabbracciare il mister con il quale ha condiviso tante esperienze professionali.

I think everyone who has ever watched a match of soccer would agree: the sport could use a
little more goal scoring. Don't get me the STO Commish wrong, I appreciate soccer for what it is.
Soccer is a sport of strategy, precision, and patience. Unfortunately, I am not a very patient
person.

Now regular listeners to the Italian Football FanCast and the Manchester United Football FanCast
will be very aware of my liking for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, some of my colleagues would even call it a
blind obsession. After weeks of mockery, I have decided to take it upon myself to explain why I
think Zlatan is truly world class and up there with the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano
Ronaldo.

conosciuto l'amara retrocessione in serie B.

So we all know in American sports there are statistics for everything. On base percentage, field
goal percentage, runs batted in, how many times a player blows his nose at half-time, etc. Soccer
as a whole is relatively new to statistics, and especially Italian calcio. Up until a few years ago
assists weren't even recorded.

So since this is the last time we'll be seeing Serie A goals until late August, this week I
figured I'd show a video of all the goals of week 38. Since it was the last day and most teams were
just playing for fun, there were many goals, and many nice ones to boot. There is also a video of
all 25 of Zlatan Ibrahimovic's goals that won him the capocannoniere title this
season.

The last day of the season was a Sunday of goodbyes. Goodbye Maldini (retirement), goodbye
Nedved (retirement, but may come back with another team), goodbye Figo (retirement, desk job with
Inter probably), goodbye Ancelotti (Chelsea), goodbye Mazzarri (has to look for a team), goodbye
Zenga (all signs are pointing towards Lazio, but maybe taking a year off), goodbye Quagliarella
(signed for Napoli), goodbye Torino, Lecce, and Reggina (Serie B), goodbye Milito and Thiago Motta
(off to Inter), goodbye Serie A every weekend, and then the two almost goodbyes that will be
followed all summer by the press are those of Ibrahimovic and Kaka (who if reports are right will
be playing each other in La Liga next season).

Torino became the third and final team to be relegated from Serie A on Sunday when it lost 3-2 at
AS Roma in the last round, while AC Milan secured a direct spot in next season's Champions League.
Torino needed to win and hope relegation rivals Bologna dropped points to avoid joining Reggina and
Lecce in Serie B next season.

It's Zlatan the great!
By Glezos Alberganti, La Settimana Sportiva
A brace by Zlatan Ibrahimovic sealed Inter's last game at San Siro this year against a lively
Atalanta side. Mourinho's boys played one of the best games of the season, coming back in the
second half. The Nerazzurri went ahead after 6 minutes thanks to Muntari, but Atalanta equalized
four minutes later with Doni.

Today the list of 35 players was announced that will play in a friendly on June 6th in Pisa vs.
Northern Ireland and the upcoming FIFA Confederations Cup. 22 players were called up for the
Northern Ireland game, while 13 will skip that match and go straight to South Africa. Lippi said in
recent weeks that the roster for the Northern Ireland match would be mainly experimental and would
give national team experience to the players that merited a call-up based on their play throughout
the Serie A season.

Fiorentina lost the chance to close the gap on the top three having only just grabbed a last ditch

After a week of speculations about Mourinho's future, Serie A 2008-09
Champions Inter went to Cagliari for what looked almost like a training

best season and then let mid table Cagliari run away with three deserved

Remember how the Champions League final being held in Rome would interfere with Lazio's match
with Reggina? Well they played the game yesterday, and Lazio won 1-0, with a goal from Mauro
Zarate. Unfortunately the loss condemned Reggina to Serie B for the first time in 7 years. Reggina
actually surpassed expectations by sticking around in Serie A this long, especially since they were
only promoted to paradise for the first time in 1999.
