I find this hilariously funny!
David Beckham got sent off from a youth soccer match:
"It was the younger kids of Romeo's club, and they're playing in the game and there was a
penalty given. And the kids are 7 years old and he sent the kid off." After that, Beckham, who has
seen his share of red cards in his career (including a crucial one in a World Cup match against
Argentina in 1998), did what so many parents of youth soccer players have done — he opened his
mouth.
What do you think of United's result against Chelsea last night, was it a fair one? Andres
Villas-Boas does not. In fact, it would have been a famous victory for him had it not been for
Howard Webb awarding the Red Devils two penalties that changed the face of the game.
VIllas-Boas who believes United's second penalty should have never been awarded, claimed that
Webb seemed to be making up for decisions he made against United in the First half.

So what if.... How much of progress did humanity make just by someone, somewhere thinking these
3 words? Many good invention started just by these 3 magical words. So I was thinking: So what if
Fifa/Uefa/FA started with a way to cancel out bad mistakes from the refs.
So what if those [.

Editor's note: At the end of the 2010 season, we posted a series of season reviews of every
Philadelphia Union player. Over the next several weeks PSP continues with a review of the 2011
season.
It was a disappointing second year for Jack McInerney.
Since in many ways this was my first regionals all over again (new sport), I went back and compared
the notes I wrote (literally, on an old Apple Newton) and compared them with my experience this
last weekend. And there are several similarities and differences:
Similarities:
* Chance to get better games if you perform well
* High pressure, high stakes games
* Some nice comrade with the other officials
But there were some big differences, too.
Wow, this was an interesting day. Some ups and downs, but mostly ups. My crew worked the
consolation bracket today, which, while not exactly glory matches, they are extremely important to
the teams and demand no less than our best. And good thing, too - because our first match was a
doozy. We had 49 majors called in the bout - not trips to the box (where four minors would get you
sent there), but majors - from what I gather (I hadn't thought of it before), a typical bout has
something like the low to middle 20s.
What are the odds Lampard is on the Chelsea bench again at Wigan? Derek McGovern's Bets

Two top-flight refs, who shall of course remain fatherless, cost me a small fortune over the
weekend and the soundtrack to this season has been the chant of, ‘You don't know what you're
doing.
Well it's that time again. Time to put our winning streak on the line against Fulham. I just
watched the rather remarkable end to the Man Utd/Newcastle game, where luck and the refs worked
against Man Utd at the end, which is odd. We didn't get any help from Chelsea or Spurs, so we still
need three points here to keep up with them.

I can say is that we live in a country where you can criticize everybody, including the President

International Football Association Board (IFAB) decided in March to grant a further year for the
testing of goal-line technology. Nine European companies have registered to take part in the tests,
which are set to be held behind closed doors in stadiums chosen by the technology providers in
consultation with FIFA.
By Walter Broeckx There has been a little debate going on about the refs in the media. And I was
attracted by the words or the English Football Association referees' committee chairman David
Elleray. Mr. Elleray said and I quote this from the media: "Last season in the Premier League 98
per cent of offside [.

wanted to see referee's chief Mike Riley. Some portrayed Dalglish's post-match comments as a rant
after the 1-0 defeat courtesy of Jonathan Walters' controversial penalty.

Kenny Dalglish rocked football by claiming that referees have been victimising Liverpool in

By Walter Broeckx After 3 days in the PL we cannot say much about how the refs will do in this

have seen so far. First of all let us start and try to see if [...]
The next Timbers game isn't until September 10th. That's almost two weeks away. So what should
we Timbers-loving folk do until then to pass the time? The obvious answer is, of course, to get
deeply ingrained in one of the many fine European leagues that just recently started this month.
However, I have a better proposition.
The Professional Game Match Officials (PGMO) are the body that employs all referees and they select
which particular official referees a particular game:"The PGMO look at the fixtures 6 weeks ahead,
pick the right refs for the right games, then review this on a weekly basis. They take all factors
into account, other games they have reffed, who they support, distance to travel, and in some cases

European Club Association chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has called on FIFA president Sepp

Rummenigge told Swiss business magazine Bilanz on Friday that Blatter would be smart to
introduce reforms "before his successor does it, or before a revolution comes from outside.

A wild and crazy game in San Jose saw Colorado return to the Rockies with 3 points. They got some
help from the refs and some good play from the midfield but this game could have easily gone the
other way.
San Jose had more possession but Colorado had better chances early. Seven minutes in Folan slammed
a Mullan cross off the post from his head.
Untold Arsenal on Twitter @UntoldArsenal By Walter Broeckx What a big chance the refs have missed
on Sunday. The plan was that Thierry Henry would have played the last 5 minutes for Arsenal in the
game between Arsenal and New York Red Bulls. But the refs didn't allow this as it was against the
rules.
Recently I tweeted out asking what you think is wrong with MLS. I got a plethora of responses. Some
were well thought out and some simply ranted and moaned without being realistic. I thought I'd
address some of the more thought out ones. Number one on my list was a follow up to my previous
thoughts on Jurgen Klinsmann.
It's kind of interesting how standards change because of needs. I've mentioned a few times on here
before, that I had a conversation with an assessor who said her first decision is who needs a real
referee crew, and who can get by with just a "body" to fulfill USSF requirements. On the other
hand, now that I'm involved in roller derby, it's very very common to see significant others
wearing stripes (or non-skating official jerseys) in matches.
UK journalist Matt Slater has summarized the corruption scandal in Greek football for the
English speaking world here, but one line struck me in particular:
When Deputy Culture Minister Giorgos Nikitiadis said this was "the darkest day in the history of
Greek football" it was probably the first pronouncement by a politician anybody in the country had
entirely agreed with for months.
Before I even get into this, I want to acknowledge that by no means do I pretend to be the first
to point this issue out. In fact, sources from across the league have been pointing this out all
season long. But if we don't continue the conversation, then nothing will be done and it'll all get
lost in the shuffle.
As you all saw I missed last week's Power Rankings while I was out on vacation. In a way this is
a combination of week 13 and 14.
A decent amount of movement in the middle and the bottom in this week's rankings. The Eastern
Conference continues to make matters complicated here in the rankings as it is full of clubs just
bunched together here.
