Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has urged his players to get their ailing domestic campaign back
on track by recapturing the spirit of their famous invincible side of the 2003-04 season.
On Wednesday, Arsenal played out a 0-0 draw with Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium and
although they finally managed to end their point drought after three consecutive defeats, it wasn't
a source of joy for the Gunners as they now find themselves at seventh position on the league
table, behind the likes of Newcastle United and Liverpool.

Newcastle United are up to fifth in the Premier League after they beat Blackburn Rovers 2-0,
while Arsenal's poor run of form continues as they were held 0-0 at Bolton.
Newcastle took a 12th-minute lead when Blackburn's Scott Dann deflected a 25-yard shot from Ryan
Taylor past stranded Rovers goalkeeper Paul Robinson.

Newcastle are now just three points behind Chelsea and a UEFA Champions League place as the
Magpies leapfrog both Liverpool and Arsenal with the win.
With the transfer window shut, teams across Europe are moving forward with their new parts in
place.
Queens Park Rangers' newest signings Djibril Cisse and Taye Taiwo are in the starting lineup for
the club's match at Aston Villa, which has Robbie Keane in the starting lineup and Americans Brad
Guzan and Eric Lichaj ready on the bench.
Arsenal starlet Francis Coquelin has hailed the locker room impact of legendary on-loan striker
Thierry Henry, insisting that the veteran does not need to be on the pitch all the time to offer
his leadership.
Henry's two-month spell at the Emirates began with a bang as his decisive goal knocked Leeds
United out of the FA Cup but the Frenchman has since been sidelined with injury concerns.
Arsene Wenger has openly spoken of his delight about Arsenal's thrilling come-from-behind 3-2
win to progress to the FA Cup fifth round at the expense of Aston Villa but refuses to discuss the
half-time conversation with his players.
The Gunners were 2-0 down heading into the interval following goals from Richard Dunne and
Darren Bent but two second-half penalties from Robin van Persie and a deflected goal strike from
Theo Walcott completed a memorable triumph.

There's a trip to Bolton looming in midweek, where we'll continue our climb up the league table
in search of that Champions League spot. But first there's the matter of the FA Cup to deal with. A
small matter or a big matter? Depends on the individuals. Arsene Wenger loves a bit of this
competition but not over qualification to Europe's premier competition.
Liverpool Whilst success in the Carling Cup provided KK with a degree of respite after last week's
shambles at the Reebok Stadium, will (or perhaps more pertinently should) Liverpool fans be happy
with the poorest domestic trophy and a top four finish? One suspects so, but with Liverpool six
points of the Promised Land of [.
Liverpool face off against Manchester City on Wednesday evening in the second leg of the Carling
Cup semi final. Liverpool lead the affair 1-0 but with at least 90 minutes still to play the tie is
obviously very delicately poised. The second leg will take place at Anfield and with the home crowd
roaring them on Liverpool will consider themselves favourite and the more likely of the two teams
to succeed.
Kenny Dalglish insists Liverpool will give everything against Manchester City to get the fans back
on side following Saturday's deflating defeat.
The Reds put in a woeful performance against Premier League strugglers Bolton at the weekend, going
down 3-1 at the Reebok Stadium.
They have a chance to redeem themselves when they host leaders City at Anfield on Wednesday in the
second leg of their Carling Cup semi-final, having established a 1-0 lead at Ethiad Stadium last
time out.
Liverpool first-team coach Steve Clarke believes the club has collectively accepted the
consequences of defeat to Bolton and has already moved on from the misery.
Kenny Dalglish's men were last weekend embarrassed in a dire 3-1 loss at the Reebok Stadium and the
manager for the first time turned criticism onto his players.
Liverpool forward Luis Suarez has insisted that, although he trusts his teammates, he can't wait to
get back playing again after seeing the Reds slump to a 3-1 defeat to Bolton.
The Uruguayan, who is currently serving an eight-match ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra,
watched on as Kenny Dalglish's side were well beaten at the Reebok Stadium but the 24-year-old is
adamant he is still very much behind his teammates.
Bolton Wanderers are set to unveil the signing of defender Tim Ream after the US international
was granted a work permit yesterday.
Ream has been impressive for both the United States national team and club side Red Bull New
York, and will replace the departed Gary Cahill at the Reebok.
The 24-year old had been training with the Premier League outfit since the end of the Major
League Soccer season, and boss Owen Coyle didn't hide his interest in the defender.
Henry Winter believes Kenny Dalglish's outburst following the Bolton defeat is "unprecedented" in
the history of Liverpool Football Club.
The Reds boss publically criticized members of his squad following the 3-1 loss at the Reebok
Stadium, accusing them of showing a lack of respect to their opponents and being distracted by
Wednesday's Carling Cup semi-final second leg with Manchester City and next weekend's FA Cup clash
with Manchester United.
Nigel Reo-Coker says he has 'no respect' for Craig Bellamy after a bust-up between the pair during
Bolton's 3-1 win over Liverpool.
There has been a long-running feud between the pair since 2007 and those hostilities were resumed
at the Reebok Stadium.
Bellamy and Reo-Coker clashed just before the half-time interval with Bolton team-mate Zat Knight
forced to drag Reo-Coker away as the war of words threatened to explode.
Newcastle's hopes of taking advantage of Chelsea's draw at Norwich were stopped by a five-goal
second-half blitz from Fulham as they lost 5-2 at Fulham.
Fulham were poor in the first-hald and it was no surprise that Newcastle scored first thanks to
a Danny Guthrie thunderbolt from outside the area.

Sebastien Le Toux will have a week to impress the Bolton Wanderer's coaching staff, according to
manager Owen Coyle. The Scot confirmed reports out of the United States that Le Toux was on his way
to Bolton on a trial ahead of a possible transfer.
"We have received good reports about Sebastian, so we thought we would give him an opportunity
to come into the group," said Coyle.
West London giants Chelsea have finally completed the signing of England centre back Gary Cahill
from fellow Premier League side Bolton Wanderers after a protracted transfer negotiation with the
player over personal terms. Having completed a medical examination at the weekend, Cahill now joins
Chelsea's star studded squad as they look to get their title challenge back on track - and at just
26 may be viewed by the club as a long term replacement for fellow England defender John Terry at
Stamford Bridge.
It has been revealed this morning that the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will once again have his
scouts at the Reebok Stadium tonight to watch their young Southampton left-back Luke Shaw in action
in the Youth Cup against Bolton. Shaw is not legally allowed to sign professional terms with anyone

Following a string of impressive performances, the Daily Star is suggesting that
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is lining up a move for Newcastle United midfielder Cheick
Tiote. The Ivorian has been an integral figure in the heart of Newcastle's midfield, and Mancini is
insistent that City's billionaire owners keep the check book open.
The defender had been set to move to Chelsea for a fee rumoured to be around the £7 million
mark. Complications began when personal terms were discussed. It appears that Gary Cahill's
representatives believed the player was worthy of a far more lucrative contract than Chelsea were
willing to offer him.
With just a point separating the two sides, Liverpool take on Newcastle United at Anfield on
Friday, knowing the importance of a win.
After six games without victory, Newcastle beat Bolton Wanderers 2-0 at the Reebok Stadium on

Alan Pardew's men had only taken two points from their previous six games, before Hatem Ben Arfa
and Demba Ba scored in the second half to topple Bolton and get within a point of sixth-placed
Liverpool on the English Premier League table.
Bolton Wanderers are hoping to swoop on Liverpool duo Raheem Sterling and Jon Flanagan on-loan in
the January transfer window.
Manager Owen Coyle is desperate for new recruits to salvage his team's season after two wins all
season has left his side second bottom.
Winger Sterling, 17, is one of the most highly-rated teenagers in England and Coyle insists he can
help the teenager's development in the same way he has done for Jack Wilshere and Daniel Sturridge.
It's obvious that Ben Arfa was simply delighted with his sub appearance yesterday at the Reebok
Stadium. Ben Arfa - getting towards being fully fit The Frenchman came on after 61 minutes and
changed the game for Newcastle, and he got the very important first goal on 69 minutes with an
exhibition of his great skill.
Fabricio Coloccini had a very good game yesterday afternoon at the Reebok Stadium. Fabricio
Coloccini - we were very good defensively And the Newcastle captain, for the first time this

For the first time since Steven Taylor went off injured late in the game against Chelsea on

the final whistle this afternoon And manager Alan Pardew pointed out how important that was today
at Bolton, as Newcastle went to the Reebok Stadium and got all 3 points with a 2-0 win.
It was a very important win today for Newcastle, as they kept their 6th clean sheet in 18 league
games, with a nice 2-0 win at the Reebok Stadium. Ben Arfa after scoring Newcastle's first goal
today And the all important breakthrough goal was scored by Hatem Ben Arfa, who came on after
61 minutes for Leon Best.
Newcastle got their first win in seven games this afternoon at the Reebok Stadium, when goals from
Ben Arfa and Demba Ba (who else?) within a two minute spell in the second half, gave
Newcastle all 3 points. And with Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool all drawing their games today,
Newcastle have gained two points on those three teams [.
Vedran Corluka's requests for first team football had spread around the teamRight, call off all the
bets. The season's as good as over and the title is ours. As if any further proof were needed that
this year's Spurs are made of different, more robust stuff than previous incarnations, this weekend
provided further evidence that we are indeed, as Herman's Hermits said, into something good.
It's easy enough to look at Arsenal's recent away form and state that a victory against Norwich
City is near enough inevitable. At Stamford Bridge Arsenal defeated Chelsea 5-3 in a roller coaster
of a match. Prior to that they had defeated Marseille in the Champions League in France at the
Stade Velodrome.

Michael Regan/Getty Images(Bleacher Report) This Past January Manchester City made a move that many
people believed would be one of the best they had made since their overhaul began. Their move was
the £27 million signing of VfL Wolfsburg star Edin Dzeko.
Dzeko had torn up the Bundesliga for the past three seasons with Wolfsburg scoring 85 goals in only
135 league appearances.
Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has heaped praised on his team everyone from players to the
technical staff and has sent a message to the Blues' title rivals that last season's runners-up
have hit top gear.
The West Londoners were dominant in last weekend's 4-1 thrashing of Swansea City but a late
lapse in concentration during the midweek's Champions League clash at Valencia led to a
disappointing 1-1 draw.
