The Belgrade Derby: A World PhenomenonCrvena Zvezda 0-2 Partizan Belgrade (26:11:11)The taxi ground to a halt with the floodlights of the Marakana rising in the distance, writes
Andy Hudson. A single policeman tried to control the traffic from six different directions;
the angles of his hands lost amidst the steam billowing from his mouth.
The Calm Before The StormBSK Borča 0-4 Vojvodina (26:11:11)It's the morning of The Eternal Derby in Belgrade. Before living and
breathing that dream fixture, Ken Morton and friends took in a match in relatively serene
surroundings...The Luton Ibis is far from glamorous but the prospect of a big European derby made it slightly
easier to rise from my slumber.
Bru-no you want me If you are on loan at a club then you want to impress to try and get a permanent
deal. But when Red Star Belgrade decided to play loanee Bruno Mezenge in their Serbian Cup game
against Smederevo, they probably didn't expect him to impress them to this extent. Brazilian

Red Star Belgrade's on-loan striker Bruno Mezenga did this in a Serbian Cup game against
Smerderevo the other day...
Sign him up, sign him up, sign him up!
Thanks to Pies fan Milutin for bringing this little peach to our attention.
The Belgrade derby has some, shall we say, "behavioral issues" which require constant
considerations. How best to combat a problem of lighting the stands on fire whilst also throwing
Molotov seat cocktails?
Remove the damn seats.
Good in theory, questionable in its successful application.

A curious article appeared on the online version of the Wall Street Journal
earlier today on the subject of the economic woes that European football is facing. It was,
largely, a thoroughly reasonable article, talking of the gap between rich and poor in terms of the
tensions that this may come to create within the infrastructure of the pan-European game (even
withstanding the at best mixed week that the biggest European clubs endured, which can easily be
justified as unfortunate timing), the debt levels that clubs have racked and are racking up in the
pursuit of success and the unsustainable amount of money being squandered on players' wages.
Spurs' Michael Dawson takes his shirt off to celebrate his side's 5-0 win over the SPL's Heart of

As you know, we can't be bothered to write stuff about the Europa League until someone actually
wins it.

The way that Klaus Augenthaler left the green fields can be a very good story for a light drama
movie. The guy who had great career with Bayern Munich, which was his club since he was 18 years
old till he retired at 1991. He had only 27 appearances with the national team in 7 years, but
really very valuable 27 caps (the quality, not the quantity).
Sporting KC continued to fill their roster today as they announced the signing of 24 year old
Montenegrin midfielder, Milos Stojcev. In the preseason games that he's played in he seems to be
playing a more of an attacking midfielder. Stojcev came up through Red Star Belgrade's youth
system, but never appeared for the first team.

Whether it's the Trialist 1 from the midweek intrasquad scrimmage or a new trialist, there's a new
player on the field for KC in their preseason game against Colorado this morning. He's Montenegrin
left sided midfielder, Milos Stojcev. Stojcev is from Red Star Belgrade's youth system but never
appeared once for the club.

Charlie Davies played his first full scrimmage with D.C. United on Monday and contributed a goal
and assist in 74 minutes to help D.C. top the Canadian Under-20 national team, 5-1, in Fort
Lauderdale, Florida.

Del Boy's got loads of TFC clobber back there! Lovely Jubbly!
There are so many glaring differences between the 2011 TFC training camp and those that were
held under the old regime. The current "Oranje Revolution" management are open with information,
invite seemingly qualified trialists to camp and schedule challenging friendlies.
It's amazing how quickly news moves in today's age. Earlier today I was shown this article from
Ecuador saying that former LDU Quito forward, Franklin Salas was on his way to KC. The article made
it sound like the deal was done. After Tweeting about the rumor, it was picked up by Charles Gooch
from the Star and The Full 90.
Inspired by the recent attempts by others to map which soccer teams people in London support as
well as which teams people in Wales support, I wondered what a map of the United States would like
broken down by which European teams residents support.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized that it's almost impossible.
