Here's a story that slipped by us over the weekend Serbian President Boris Tadic (pictured
above, center) was charged by police last Friday for allegedly breaking an anti-hooligan law
barring the sale or consumption of alcohol in stadiums.
Tadic and other officials reportedly popped bottles of champagne in their VIP lounge at Red Star
Belgrade stadium following Serbia's World Cup qualification clinching victory of Romania.

By definition, the Nelly Award goes to the United player who has made the most significant
positive impact in his first year with the club. The award's namesake Ryan Nelsen became a starter
shortly into his first season with United, and would go on to guide the team to an MLS Cup in
2004.
It's a testament to the total failure of our 2008 acquisitions that not one of last year's nominees
is still on the team.

I've held off on using my wild card this week despite carrying a lot of dead weight. My dead weight
is all in the sub 6M range, so will be relatively easy to replace over the next 2-3 weeks, but for
now - I'm still stuck with two Wolves' players -
Sylvan Ebanks-Blake (5.2M) and the woeful

Quakes' books less than a month, appearing in two exhibition games. He originally signed with San
Jose on August 18th after spending 2009 with Brazil's Rio Branca. da Silva was part of Red Star
Belgrade's Serbian Cup winning squad in 2007.

In the aftermath of our comfortable win over Celtic on Wednesday night we couldn't have asked
for much more from the Champions League group stage draw in Monte Carlo yesterday evening.
With no disrespect to Olympiakos, AZAlkmaar and Standard Liège on paper we should qualify
comfortably from this group.

One of the tricky parts of any new FF season is choosing players from promoted teams that could
represent good value. Established favourites like Cech, Lampard, Gerrard and Torres are always
going to score points and be selected by thousands of managers. But its the new squads that often
have the cheaper players that hit form early and whose value rockets as players jump on board the
bandwagon early - think of Geovanni's early success at Hull last season.

Ever wondered why so many rich people and wannabees get involved in football. Clearly Reading the
book by Tom Bower, Broken Dreams, about the amazing corruption of Brian Clough, Socceroos Boss
Terry Venables, Arsenal supremo George Graham and former Leicester player come $25 million dollar
income player agent Dennis Roach football is a great way to pocket the odd $200,000 in cash for
doing sod all.

Football is a passionate game. That is like saying cliff-walking is a dangerous one. Plenty of
sports have their passion, but to me, football's remains the most tribalistic. How many people do
you know who can transform from run-of-the-mill Mr. Average to vein-through-the-head Mr. Angry, and
all because of a contentious penalty decision.
