In a match from Argentina's Liga Regional de San Francisco between Sociedad Sportiva Devoto and
Rivadavia de Rio Primero, the referee showed a red card to a Rio Primero defender for his
goal-saving handball in a way that was either very nice or very creepy, depending on how you look
at it.

Sao Paulo managed to hold on to a 1-1 draw against Gremio on Wednesday despite having three
players get sent off in the final 15 minutes. Of the three tackles that earned early dismissals, I
think the butt kick/head slap combo (15 seconds in) would have to be the most original.
But if you want to see something that will make the above video look like bingo night at the old
folks home, check out this clip of the MMA battle between the BYU and New Mexico women's teams.

From the same game as yesterday's DTotD, we have Amauri's injury time act of frustration. He
tried to be discreet about it, but in most circles kicking a goalkeeper in the face is frowned upon
(as is tossing said goalkeeper's own teammate on top of him after the fact, though to a much lesser
extent), so Amauri was shown a red card and may or may not have hoped that the referee would fall
on the ground so he could kick him in the face, as well.

Bolton managed well in their match against Chelsea, until the dying minutes of the first half but
Jlloyd Samuels challenge earned him a red card and a penalty for Chelsea and Lampard made no
mistake converting it before the break. The Blues dominance continued with an extra player and pure
quality all over and goals [.

Celtic captain Stephen McManus earned a straight red for his waaaay late challenge on Hearts
striker Andy Driver just before the final whistle in Hearts' 1-0 CIS Insurance Cup quarterfinal win
on Wednesday.
The referee initially only showed McManus a yellow card, but then the assistant ref pulled him
aside and side something to the effect of "Are you serious?

Khizanishvili's appeal for his red card against Doncaster had been rejected as we expected.
Khizanishvili appeal not successful If you are going to appeal a sending off it seemed a mistake
from the start to say you agree with the sending off, but that it shouldn't be the full 3 match
ban. That sounds like honest [.

From Saturday's Ukrainian SuperLiga match between Dnipro and league leaders Dynamo Kiev, we have
Dnipro's Pavlo Pashayev sending Milos Ninkovic on a painful trip through the sky with a terrible
high challenge that earned him a straight red. Even worse? His teammates actually had the gall to
argue the ref's decision.

Remember when you would fall and hurt yourself when you were little (as opposed to when you were
insanely drunk this past weekend) and your mother would try and trick you into thinking your bruise
or scrape was instantly healed by "kissing it all better"? Well, I'm pretty sure that's what the
Fenerbahce physio does for Roberto Carlos (0:30 into the video above) after he took an Abdulkader
Keita punch to the head in the 74th minute of Fener's 3-1 win over Galatasaray on Sunday.

Wolfsburg stiker Grafite was shown a straight red in Wednesday's Champions League match against
Besiktas for this nonchalant no-look backhand to the face of defender Ibrahim Kas in the 74th
minute.
Had it not been for the cameras and the reaction and, you know, everyone seeing it right away I
think he would have gotten away with the sneaky slap, too.

Columbus player. Gotta keep your head in situations like that!

You would have to be a straight up mental defective to trip an opponent breaking toward goal
WITH YOUR HANDS in the final minutes of a match with World Cup qualification on the line, having
already been shown a yellow card. But that's exactly what Uruguay's Jose Martin Caceres did against
Argentina.

In the opening minutes of Saturday's Ukraine v England match, England keeper Robert Green was
forced to scurry out of his goal as the Ukrainian fans hurled flares onto the pitch. Once the
threat of being pegged with a fireball and burning alive subsided, the unnerved goalkeeper promptly
went on to earn the first red card for England since Wayne Rooney in the last World Cup.

Well bugger it. Is that a red card?  Is this stupid "you can't raise your hands" rule
real?  Bah.  Clearly this is not a good thing for our new man to have done, but straight
red?  Feel a bit sorry for the kid.

What's amazing about this clip isn't so much the bad tackle or the retaliation from behind that
earned both Grenoble's David Jemmali and Auxerre's Ireneusz Jelen red cards, but the fact that
Danijel Ljuboja still has that ridiculously unsymmetrical hairstyle that he had way back during the
2006 World Cup.

Jose Mourinho was shown a red card for dissent after arguing that Cagliari's Davide Astori
should have received a second yellow card for a foul he committed in the second half of Inter's 2-1
win today. As you would expect, he went out with a flourish, but after the match he did not
reappear to continue his tired in front of the media.

After setting up Chile's first goal by conceding a penalty kick with a blatant trip just before
halftime, Felipe Melo was shown a straight red early in the second half of Brazil's eventual 4-2
for planting his boot square in Alexis Sanchez's crotch.
If it doesn't seem so bad at first, the multiple, slow motion replays should get across the
testicle smashing horror of his actions.

Although the video quality looks like its from the 1980s, it's actually from Saturday's Peru v
Uruguay match. In the final minutes of the game, and just after Peru scored what would be their
late winner, Uruguay's Diego Godin decided to get stompy when going in for a tackle, which caused a
hot-headed Juan Vargas to jump to the defense of his teammate and start a scuffle.

Sevilla striker Frederic Kanoute must have been in a foul mood on Sunday because he didn't seem
to care much for his opponents' well being. First, he delivered an elbow to the head of Valencia
left back Bruno, opening a wellspring of blood and earning a yellow card. Then, just before
halftime, he came in with a high challenge, which got him sent off.

In the first half of Saturday's Milan derby, Rino Gattuso picked up an ankle injury that he

opposition, giving both Samuel Eto'o and Wesley Sneijder violent welcomes to Serie A and getting
booked twice in a matter of four minutes.

Sometimes getting sent off by a referee can be a contentious issue. Perhaps a player is wrongly
adjudged to have committed a professional foul, or a keeper did in fact touch the ball before the
man and therefore should not have been shown a red. This on the other hand is the most blatant red
card offence you will ever see.

Sunday's Bolivian league match between Oriente Petrolero and Blooming turned intensely violent
just before halftime when Sergio Jauregui of Blooming retaliated for an elbow he caught from

a sickening kung fu kick that would even make Jean-Claude Van Damme jealous on Medina as he headed
for the tunnel, leaving him unconscious.

Thanks to the fantastic Dirty Tackle for this. Really not sure he deserves a
red card for the little push he gives an opponent but for the foul mouthed rant he totally warrants
some kind of punishment, perhaps he can serve as a referee for a week then he can shout "You
Motherfucker at all 22 players on the park".

Since the theme on Fridays is irrational anger, I figured this would fit nicely. Pretty sure he
shoved that guy in slow motion, and the rant aimed at the referee following the red card is pretty
fantastic. Especially the way he changes vocal inflection when asking the same question
repeatedly.

Norway 4 : 0 ScotlandStone the crows! That was bad. Really bad, Berti Vogts bad.Excuses and

by. And we'd had a couple of minor sights at goal by that point. And the free kick was deflected.
But if you turn your back and jump into a free kick then the ball can go anywhere.

On Sunday, those of us who watched the AC Milan vs. InterMilan match witnessed a moment of

Fortunately, in a moment of card waving flare, the referee mistakenly showed the wrong color.
