David Beckham's reent ejection from a youth soccer game has been receiving a lot of attention in
the press. To hear Becks describe it, he quite rightly protested a referee ejecting a 7-year old
from a youth soccer game and the ref kicked him out of the park as a result.
If Beckham's telling is accurate, it seems the ref overreacted twice and this is all much ado
about nothing.

Roberto Mancini is dead nuts on getting the oppositions players sent-off!
Two weeks ago Mancini was looking for Martin Skrtel to be dismissed after a clumsy tackle on Yaya
Toure in City's 3-0 win over Liverpool in the League, he then wanted Glenn Johnson red carded for
his two-footed tackle on Johnson in Liverpool's 1-0 win in the Carling Cup semi-final first leg at
the Etihad and last night he wanted Wigan's Maynor Figueroa for a hand-ball on thew half way line
and although they may all have warranted a red card, Mancini's attitude towards red card offences
seem's hypocrytical to say the least.
Vincent Kompany was sent off for this two footed challenge on Nani during Manchester City's 3-2
defeat against Manchester United today. Kompany did win the ball but did he deserve a straight red
card?
Joey Barton's recent red card against Norwich could easily be put down as Karma. Remember the
incident which seen Barton over reacting to a mere slap at the start of the season from Arsenal
striker Gervinho which seen the player red carded?

I've seen Luis Suarez do this but Recreativo Estrellas keeper Gabriel Orozco actually draws
blood after biting Nicolas Cardinal on the face and deservingly getting a straight red card in
doing so.
The 19 year old Dutch fan who's attempted assault on AZ Alkmaar keeper Esteban Alvarado turned
sour when the Costa Rican stopper turned aggressor and kicked the fan to the ground was given a
four year jail term yesterday.
He was also given an additional two month suspended sentence and ordered to report to Police
during matches involving Ajax, AZ Alkmaar and the Dutch national team for two years.
While also announcing that the referee had acted properly, the KNVB rescinded Estaban Alvarado's
red card. No word yet about the status of the suspended game.- Greg Seltzer
Yaya Toure may face a three game ban after being seen kicking and then slapping Chelsea's Juan
Mata during City's 2-1 defeat to Chelsea Monday night. Although the incident wasn't seen by the
referee Toure may face trial by TV or will the FA turn a blind eye to the incident?
Manchester City are reduced to 10 men after Gael Clichy receives his second yellow card 12
minutes after his first yellow when taking down Chelsea's Ramires.
The red card or sending off is a decision that is very important for referees to get right, but is
often fraught with controversy. This was amply illustrated by four incidents involving red card
decisions this past weekend in the...
P-Iker card. Any card Move over Dynamo. Football has a new magician and his name is Iker Casillas.
The Real Madrid keeper has been showing off his card tricks. Unusually for a Real player, the card
trick doesn't involve him picking up a red card and magically being suspended for a dead rubber
match!
Union de Santa Fe's Marcelo Sarmiento challenges for the ball with Newells Old Boy's Fabian
Munoz, with Sarmiento coming out with his foot pointing in the wrong direction. Sarmiento even
forgave Munos for his gruesome broken leg saying: "[Munoz] came to the locker room while I was
being treated.
It's the second Scandal to hit Iranian football inside a week, a referee officiating a third
tier match hand's out a second yellow card to Chooka Talesh striker for dissent only to see the
card ripped out of his hand before getting a savage beating from player's coaches an fans alike.
Disgraceful stuff!
Two Iranian player's have been banned from entering any Iranian stadiums, after the Iranian FA
deemed their Persian Gulf Cup goal celebrations too intimate.
Mohammed Nosrati and Sheis Rezael were banned indefinitely for their goal celebrations during
the Persian Gulf Cup tie between Persepolis and Damash Gilan which was broadcasted live in the
staunchly Islamic Country.
Steaua Bucharest's game against Petrolul Ploiesti was abandoned after Steaua defender George
Galamaz was punched in the head by a fan, who consequently got a well deserved kicking by Galamaz's
team-mates in the centre circle, two of which were sent off for their actions. The game restarted
with Steaua leading 2-0 before their keeper was hit with a flare prompting a 20 minute delay before
the referee saw common sense and abandoned the tie.
Former Italian international Mauro Camoranesi (35) now plying his trade in Argentina with Lanus
still has that nasty streak in him, watch as he kicks Racing Club's Patricio Toranzo in the face
following his red card, although it must not have been too bad as Toranzo himself was shown a red
card after jumping up and screaming into the officials face for neon two minutes.
According to FIFA Task Force Football 2014, led by 'Der Kaiser' Beckbauer, the idea of red carding
a defender in the box, giving a pk, and the obvious game suspension that goes with the red card is
too much for teams to "endure". To reduce this, the Task Force has recommended that cards be given
only if they would be cardable offenses anywhere else on the pitch.
Rep of Ireland and West Brom striker Shane Long faces a lenghthy spell on the treatment table
following this disgraceful tackle from Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton which went unpunished from
the officials.
Didier Drogba was shown a deserved red card for this two footed tackle on Adel Taarbt as 9 man
Chelsea who had Jose Boswinga sent off earlier in the first half lost 1-0 to London rivals QPR.

Moussa Dembele was ridiculously sent-off after a meagre push on Wisla Krakow's Gervasio Nunez,
although Dembele should not have risen his hand to his opponent nor should his opponent have acted
as if shot down by a sniper.

RAT!
He's probably not the worst, he's definitely not the first and he sure as excreta won't be the
last, but Wisla Krakow's Gervasio Nunez showed his true rat colours in getting Moussa Dembele
sent-off in the Europa League last night.
Maccabi Tel-Aviv's Yoav Ziv kicks a stray boot at a linesman and get's sent off despite his
apologies v Stoke in thed Europa League last night.
A mass brawl erupted in the Asian Champions League semi-final between Al Sadd and Suwon
Bluewings after Suwon put the ball out for attention to an injured player only for the official to

Lille's Aurelin Chedjou screams like a baby after the slightest touch off Giampaolo Pazzini's
arn in Inter Milan's 1-0 Champions League win in France last-night.
Nemanja Vidic lasted just 67 minutes on his United comeback after receiving a
harsh sending off last night against Otelul Galati, the same challenge in the EPL may only have
seen a throw in or at worst a free-kick.
Brazilian striker Neymar was sent off after he sarcastically clapped a referee
who was brandishing a yellow card, then a red for his petulent clap just like Wayne Rooney for
Manchester United a few years back in the Champions League.
Reports on Tuesday suggested the deal struck between the club and the Olympic Park Legacy
Company (OPLC) has come to a halt after complaints from the Premier League outfit, with the OPLC,
the Mayor of London and the government agreeing instead to keep the stadium in public
ownership.
It look's as if Malaysian defender Reuben is getting revenge on a few bad calls from the referee
as he purposefully takes him out with a tackle from behind, of which even Paul
Scholes would have been proud of.
Player's 1-1 Referee's
How not to get the ref onside Referees in the modern game don't take kindly when you leave the
ground and lunge into tackles, least of all when it's them on the receiving end. Malaysia hardman K
Reuben somehow escaped without a red card after this tackle from behind on the ref during their
match [...

Xerex keeper Toni Doblas leaves Girona striker Ion Velez's knee in tatters in a
Spanish Segunda Division clash at the week-end, amazingly there was no foul given as Velez faces at
least a year out injured.
Referee Eduardo Gonzalez makes a two footed tackle on Valencia goal scorer Sergio
Canales much to the amusement of both sets of fans, during Valencia's 1-0 win over Granada
at the week-end. I remember a certain Jack Rodwell receiving a straight red card for less ha ha,
which was recinded by the FA today.
Why Atkinson must admit he got Rodwell's red card wrong (unless he has a TARDIS): David

I spoke to Jack Rodwell on Thursday to preview the derby. It was one of those telephone
interviews arranged through EA Sports and Rodwell rang me at the arranged time and we chatted for
over 20 minutes.
