When you take the hands out of a game, you remove man's special tool for refined play and
frustration becomes the order of the day. The low scoring rate in soccer reflects that reality.
There are two ways to address the problem, run up your opponent's frustration by forcing him to
make more passes to get to the goal or minimize your own frustration by accepting the delay and
beating it with cunning and skill.

San Jose hopes to extend their lead in the standings with a win in Vancouver this weekend.
(US-PRESSWIRE)
Don't blink folks, this week is going by fast. If you didn't notice there was a slew of games
last night and they'll be another group of games this weekend. MLS laughs at the dog-days of summer
with all of these games.
The best part of post-draft analysis is that everyone's opinion may be right. Hometown fans are
usually very optimistic and begin that glimmer of hope that this coming season might bring them a
championship.
Since nobody can prove my opinions wrong (yet), here is my take on the "super" winners , losers and
highlights of the day.
Leading up to this season there have been 28 Conference Semifinal series' that use the current
home and home format. Of the 28 first leg matches, 9 have ended in a draw. That means that in the
other 19 a winner emerged with a lead going into the second match.
St. Louis Scott Gallagher Missouri and New York Red Bulls to contest U-15/16 championship on
Monday
The U-15/16 Development Academy championship match is set. St. Louis Scott Gallagher Missouri
posted a perfect 3-0-0 record in group play at Academy Finals Week, earning a 1-0 victory against
D.
It all comes down to the last day in the U-17/18 age group with everything to play for and many
winner-take-all matchups highlighted in the final round of games. The U-15/16 teams have an off
day.
Before you take a look at the game schedule, be sure to read over the U-17/18 Playoffs Scenarios at
ussoccer.
The New York Red Bulls look to make it three wins in a row, but to do so they'll have to get by a
Houston Dynamo side finally at the end of its seven-game road trip to open the season (7 p.m., MLS
Live/Direct Kick).
The Red Bulls are again without Rafa Marquez, who has completed his three-game suspension but is
out with an ankle injury suffered in training, according to the Red Bulls.

I'm not entirely certain how busy I'll be today at my day job so tonight's picks are going to
come quickly here. Three games in league play plus two Canadian Championship matches (I won't be
picking those however).
New York Red Bulls manager Hans Backe made a sweeping declaration yesterday to reporters while
in Mexico. He plans to go all-in this season.
"I say we should go for it all: the Open Cup, the Shield, the MLS Cup," Backe told reporters in
a conference call on Thursday from Mexico, where the Red Bulls are training.
Philadelphia Union vs. the New York Red Bulls. On national TV. It's so on.
If Philadelphia wins, the Red Bulls go home for a long winter. Their disastrous season is over.
The Union win the Eastern Conference and home field advantage if they make it to the conference
finals.
Missing Thierry Henry and facing a strong FC Dallas side on the road, the New York Red Bulls
didn't look like a good bet to get the three points they needed to pump some sorely-needed life
into their fading playoff hopes.
No, the Red Bulls didn't have their star goal-scorer, or three fourths of their starting
defense, but the team that hadn't won since July found a way to win anyway, as a Luke Rodgers goal
and standout performance from Frank Rost helped New York post a sorely-needed 1-0 victory over FC
Dallas at Pizza Hut Park.
In a surprise move, DC United and the New York Red Bulls swapped midfielders on Monday. Dax
McCarty, who joined DC in the offseason from MLS Cup runners-up FC Dallas, is now a member of the
New York Red Bulls. New York parts company with five-time all star Dwayne De Rosario, who joined
the Red Bulls earlier this season from Toronto.
The New England Revolution are making the trek down I-95 to Harrison, NJ to take on Thierry
Henry and the New York Red Bulls. New York hasn't won in their last six matches (five draws, one
loss), but the Revs are looking to stop a three-loss slide and are still searching for their first
goal from the run of play since April 23rd.
Tomorrow in New York, Sporting Kansas City begins the second half of their 10 game road trip
against the New York Red Bulls. New York comes into the game tomorrow on the backs of two blow out
wins against San Jose (3-0) and DC (4-0). Thierry Henry has started to get into good goal scoring
form, getting 3 goals in the last two games.
Little change in the rankings this week as the favored teams all won at the weekend. This is how
MLSoccer ranks the MLS teams after three weeks of the season.
1: Real Salt Lake
Nothing anyone in the league did this past weekend could have knocked RSL out of the top spot: a
4-0-1 mark in all competitions heading into Tuesday's CONCACAF Champions League semifinal second
leg, Nick Rimando the Player of the Month for March and every reason to believe the RSL machine
will keep chugging along indefinitely.
It's no April Fools joke; Dwayne De Rosario has been traded to New York. As per the deal, which
was announced yesterday, the Red Bulls will be giving up Tony Tchani and Danleigh Borman for the
Canadian star. At 33 years old DeRo remains in peak condition, having scored 15 goals last year and
receiving an All-Star team nod.
Controversy is a guarantee in the announcement of MLS's annual awards. Fans have always felt,
and will probably always feel, that certain players were robbed of titles while others were given
awards they didn't deserve. Welcome to fandom. Yet, while most of this is just supporters being
angry that a player from a team other than their own won whatever award is in question, recent
calls of foul from Red Bulls supporters have gotten more and more true as each victor has been
announced.
Underdog stories are fun. Except when you're the loser. In that case, they kind of suck. Just
ask fans of New York, Salt Lake, or Columbus, who were each knocked out of the first round of the
playoffs to teams they thought would guarantee them a spot in the semifinals. Despite strong
records throughout the season, a spirited fan base behind them, and, in the case of Salt Lake, last
year's Cup in hand, each of these teams went down early amid high expectations.

Well, our local team, the New York Red Bulls, have gone crashing out of the MLS playoffs even
with the likes of Rafa Márquez and Theirry Henry on the roster. To be fair, Henry was injured and
only came on in the last 5 minutes, when he mishit a ball lofted gently to his head whilst unmarked
inside the six yard box.
Recent reports indicate that Juan Pablo Angel, the 34 year old Designated player who transferred
from the Premiership's Aston Villa to New York in 2007, has spend his last year in the Big Apple.
In his tenure with the Red Bulls, Angel played alongside such ex- Metro's as Jozy Altedore, Clint
Mathis, and now both Thierry Henry and Rafa Marquez, netting a franchise record of 58 goals along
the way.

It was the culmination of years of work, trial, and error. Two of the league's best teams faced
off before a packed Home Depot Center in a match featuring four world class DP's (five if not for
injury). With the season inching closer and closer to its end, many were already considering the
game to be somthing of a playoff preview.
Seven games dot the Saturday schedule, and the main attraction has to be the Galaxy's visit to
New York to face the Red Bulls.
New York is coming off a 1-0 win over Toronto on Wednesday, while the Galaxy is in the news for
a decent showing in a 3-2 loss in a friendly to Real Madrid last weekend and the return to training
for David Beckham.
Life is good for MLS fans; in fact, it's time to start acting a little cocky around those fans
of "other sports" in the U.S. Here are the top 10 things from this past week that we can be proud
of... (Warning: most of these are from the epic Fire v Red Bulls match which despite the scoreless
final, was a great moment for MLS):
Everyone loves a David and Goliath story. When the good guy defies the odds and beats Superman,
everyone wins. It is the basis of the American dream, countless Disney movies, and (at least for
Alexi Lalas) many people's playoff predictions. Still, who can relive such timeless moments as the
Miracle on Ice, the Battle Thermopylae, or even Jerry outwitting the much larger Tom without giving
a cheer for the little guy?
After thirteen years of valiant service to our league, it was announced today that legendary New
York Metro/Bulls defender Mike Petke will be retiring at the close of the 2010 season.
"After many months of contemplation, I know that this is the best choice for me and my family,"
Petke said.
The Red Bulls completed their participation in the Emirates Cup on Sunday and they aren't
returning to the States empty-handed. They will return stateside as the 2011 Emirates Cup champion.
Here is a look at their performance in the tournament and what it means for the MLS.
Red Bulls 1-0 PSG
