Red Bulls managing director Marc deGrandpre has resigned. He is leaving the club to take a
position with another company.
DeGrandpre informed the team at a meeting this afternoon. According to sources, deGrandpre
decision to leave was his own.
The vibe in Red Bulls land is a happy one following the club's 2-0 win against Columbus on
Saturday. Beating the Crew without Jozy Altidore and without injured starters Dane Richards and
Hunter Freeman provided a sense of relief for fans who were worried the club was heading into the
season unprepared to compete.
RED BULLS PREVIEW - 2008
Let me begin by saying - this is completely based on the team as currently configured. I know April
15th is right around the corner, and 2 signings can change everything, but this is the current
situation.
With that said . . .
Lets begin with a Haiku . .
MLS opening days at Giants Stadium are traditionally known for two things, fans dreading what
the new year will bring and rain putting a damper on the opening-game festivities.
Well, one out of two ain't bad. The concerns about the Red Bull season are there, but the skies
are clear here at Giants Stadium.
As we discussed last time, this Lider Marmol saga has had more twists and turns than a Capoeira
fighter.
SoccerByIves reports that a league offer of approximately $100,000 was quickly turned down by
the Paraguayan Midfielder.
Yeah, duh.
What does this tell us? Well, for starters, the league is attempting to appease .
What a great night to be a Red Bulls fan!
An early surge that included a beautifully placed Dave Van Den Bergh strike to the bottom right
corner, and the mess that resulted in a Goldthwaite tap in was all we needed to take this one away
from the Cows.
And btw ...
He impressed the coaching staff in his short stay, but perhaps being a very large pond away from
home couldn't be compensated for.
Big Apple Soccer reports that Chris Innes is heading back to Scotland, perhaps in search of more
familiar pastures.
And where does that leave us?
Well, with Jeff .
When the patch-work defense took the field at Pizza Hut Park on Saturday night, Red Bulls
fans couldn't help but be worried.
Two fullbacks were playing in central defense while two midfielders were playing fullback.
It took FC Dallas 50 seconds to figure out how to get one past this mixed bag of defenders and the
rest of the night was a exercise in frustrating for the Red Bulls, who created chances but missed
them all and watched as Kenny Cooper buried an insurance goal to effectively end the
match.
You love my clever punitry (ability to pun - what you never heard of the word?!).
It looks like Angel is a go for the Red Bulls this weekend as they take on the dreaded Gambian
connection of New England. Ives reports from Red Bulls camp, basically saying that he looked match
ready.
Finally, the dynamic duo will be on the field.
GOAL.com has an interesting interview with Claudio Reyna. Here are some of the highlights:
On Stats
"I think people think goals and assists are the only thing," he said. "It's never
been part of my game. That's never how I played when I was in Europe. I think people look at

Red Bulls striker Juan Pablo Angel saw a nerve specialist on Thursday and the prognosis was a
very good one for Angel and for the Red Bulls. An analysis of the Colombian forward's lower back
and hamstring revealed that his injury is, in fact, a nerve-related injury that can be treated with
a cortisone shot, and not the left hamstring strain he was first diagnosed with.
You know, for all the worry and fuss, the Bulls are 2-1-1 with a crippled starting 11.
As I said after the Dallas game, chin up! The season is just getting started, and the boys are
weathering the storm with effectiveness (save one set play goal by New England last ...
A reader sent this in to me (Thanks Kenny).
It looks as if last week, we were linked on the Red Bulls official blog for our David Roth
interview - Tuesdays links - and I didnt even realize it!
Good looks for the email brother.
And good looks to Red Bulls ...
OVERVIEW:
Welcome to game 1! We are dealing with some injuries, starting up to 2 rookies, and are
beginning our season a week ahead of everyone else. Good times.
The Cows are in town, headed by Schelotto, Moreno and Gaven.
Let the Mini Clasico Begin!
CURRENT STANDING:
We havent even played a game .
Hey guys and gals,
As I prepare the David Roth interview, here are some photos from the ESPNZone Event for you to
enjoy . . . .
Well, there were a bunch of people that ran around the terrace of the ESPNZones third floor
waiting for autographs . . .
. . ...
Who says we need to pilfer Chicago for all our acquisitions?
Jorge Rojas, 30, a Venezuelan National veteran with 78 caps to his name, and the infamous Chris
Innes, former captain of the bankrupt and dying Gretna FC of SPL, are now on trial with the Red
Bulls.
I knew there was ...
Its as if I am seeing Atreyu and Falcor right before my very eyes.
The Neverending Story Continues.
In the latest from Lider Marmol and the Chicago Fire, Luis Arroyave is reporting that Chicago
coach Dennis Hamlett has no intentions of giving up his chase for Marmols services (possibly
pressed more so .
Hey Guys.
Never since the days of Oakley, Starks, Jordan and Pippen has there been so much hatred between
the franchises of our beloved cities.
New York v. Chicago is back.
And I am here to exploit that!

Red Bulls Game ...
Hey everyone,
Put the noose back in the closet. And dont reach for the shotgun with the toe attachment. The
season doesnt end on one bad game. I promise.
Lets put the game in some perspective
+ They are walking injured
+ Depth for this game was none existent
+ It was .
With Juan Pablo Angel at home and not on this trip, the Red Bulls will be revealing a new strike
tandem of Jozy Altidore and Oscar Echeverry. More importantly for the Red Bulls will be whether the
club's defense can handle FC Dallas' dangerous attack.
You could see a new formation tonight from the Red Bulls as Juan Carlos Osorio could toy with a
4-3-3, with hopes of pressuring the wings and forcing Dallas to defend rather than sitting back and
letting the Hoops attack.
Those of you waiting for the Red Bulls to swoop in on transfer deadline day and make a splash
with some signings will have to wait. That isn't going to happen.
Other than a proposal made to Red Bull Salzburg to bring in Ernst Obster on loan (a proposal
that has not been approved yet) the Red Bulls will not be making any transfer deadline acquisitions
(that includes Jorge Rojas, who will not be coming).
Amado Guevara has signed with Toronto FC and has already made an impact, playing a major part in
the Reds first win of the season.
And, as Melissa reports, Peguero Jean Phillippe (or Jean Phillippe Peguero - the mystery
continues) has just signed on with the San Jose Earthquakes.
Is Youri Djorkaeff .

Here are a couple of polls, open to everyone, all related to the now infamous and growing NY /
CHICAGO Rivalry.
10 games
7 losses
3 ties.
Since 2005, this is what they have been able to achieve against the Revolution.
Zilch.
They were able to hold Jozy and Angel to one goal apiece in 5 appearances by either man,
respectively.
They were able to shut the Bulls down in last years home and home .
Luis Arroyave reports that Lider Marmol is heading to Chicago.
You see, when a person is signed by someone, they play for that team.
In this case, when someone is "discovered" by a team, then why in the world would they
train with an unrelated team?
I guess we can chalk this one .

I guess we can chalk this one up to convuluted MLS Rules, yet again.

The Bulls are in for quite a test this season if the first three games are any indication.

That equals roughly 14.5 missed games by individuals on this team in 3 games. ...

Things have gotten very quiet on the Red Bulls front as far as the club's search for a new
managing director goes. Nobody is saying a thing as we wait for officials in Salzburg to annoint a
new team leader now that Marc deGrandpre has left to return to his preferred field of soft drink
sales.
Good afternoon folks (and good morning on the West Coast). Well, it took a little while to
finish off the last part of the most recent Q&A, but it is finally done. Here are the answers to
the remaining questions from last week's Q&A.
Enjoy.
