Deutsche Fans lieben es international

Fritten, Fussball & Bier 30 September @ 07:01 AM EST
Click to continue reading...

Soccer By Ives 29 September @ 08:55 AM EST

You can remove Mexico from the list of nations opposing the United States in the race to host the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. Mexico has pulled out of the running, leaving the United States as the lone CONCACAF nation bidding for the 2018 and 2018 World Cups.

The Mexican Soccer Federation stated that, after a careful review, it was determined that the country did not have the financial capacity to host the games, citing the country's need to renovate existing stadiums.

Champions League Qualifying: Home Sweet Nothing.

The Offside 20 August @ 10:00 AM EST
Home games are, for some odd reason, supposed to be something of an advantage. Home field, home fans, home cooking, home sex - it all adds up to a decided advantage at the end of the day. And it's especially important in two-legged home-and-away doubles as the other game is....not at home. But no one told [. Click to continue reading...

European travels

Football Fanaticos 11 August @ 07:21 AM EST
I have been travelling around in Europe for a month, and although with the break, there wasn't much football on my busy programme, I did nevertheless notice some things:-I was in Barcelona when R.D. Espanyol inaugurated their new stadium by winning a 3-0 victory against Liverpool. I have always felt some sympathy for Español for being the "little guys" in Barcelona, and was happy to see them play Click to continue reading...

Part of the changes to qualification this year sees the champions of smaller domestic leagues gaining the chance to reach the group stage of the Champions League.

The Champions League Playoffs are interesting

Only Time Will Tell 07 August @ 09:01 AM EST
In some years the final round of Champions League Playoff can be almost a bore, but this year that could be different with one tie Arsenal vs. Celtic. The team that drops this tie could be in financial trouble. Both clubs count on the Champions League group stage money in order to fund their spending, so going out before that stage could be a mess for both. Click to continue reading...

Red Bull has rebranded yet another club in its attempt to establish itself as a global football power. Red Bull are the backers behind the rebranding of SSV Markranstädt as RB Leipzig, who will begin play under that name next season in the fifth tier of the German league.
