HARRISON, N.J. Dax McCarty is on the way back, but he is not there yet.
McCarty took part in the New York Red Bulls' training session on Tuesday morning inside of Red Bull Arena, serving as a two-way player in a possession-based drill.
With the international fixture window in the rearview mirror, MLS teams will look to try and get back to full strength ahead of a loaded schedule of matches this Saturday.
The New York Red Bulls will be looking for their first win of the 2013 season when they play host to a Philadelphia Union side that has never won at Red Bull Arena before.

When Hurricane Sandy hit the east coast, the rain and wind that pummeled New Jersey forced the postponement of the MLS playoff match that the New York Red Bulls were supposed to host that weekend. Even though D.C. United had finished ahead of the Red Bulls in the standings and earned the right to host the decisive second leg of the series, the first match would be moved to D.
It was there for the taking. The New York Red Bulls dominated possession but rarely did anything with it, firing only two shots on target. Then again, D.C. United didn't do much either, only putting five attempts of their own on target. That said, the Metros got the road draw they were looking for in the rescheduled first leg of this playoff series, and United now have to go to Red Bull Arena (probably) and earn a result.

The devastation left behind by Hurricane Sandy has ravaged the New York and New Jersey area, and as a result, Major League Soccer has been forced to move Saturday's first leg of the New York Red Bulls-D.C. United series from Red Bull Arena to RFK Stadium.
Though Red Bull Arena didn't sustain any major damage during the storm, the area near the stadium, and the surrounding area, has sustained considerable damage, which left MLS no choice but to switch matches in the home-and-home series.
There are lots of reasons why D.C. United vs. the New York Red Bulls should be considered the premier series in the Conference Semifinal round of the 2012 MLS playoffs. It's the oldest rivalry in the league. The Red Bulls are always full of intrigue this time of year because we're always wondering how they're going to manage to screw things up despite having the most talented offense in the league.
Red Bull Arena avoided flooding during Hurricane Sandy's devastating tour through New Jersey, but the arena and the area surrounding it was hit by a power outage, according to a statement released by the team on Tuesday afternoon.

There have been few better games this season from New York Red Bulls forward Thierry Henry than the one he played tonight.
Thierry Henry had one of his best-ever performances in a RBNY shirt on Saturday night as the Red Bulls came back from surrendering an early goal to defeat Columbus Crew 3-1 on Saturday night. The win keeps New York right in the thick of the race for the Eastern Conference crown.

So, yeah... about that All-Star Game. We won't go in depth with a full report. Suffice to say that
the MLS All-Stars got their asses handed to them over ninety minutes by one of the world's best
club teams. We sincerely hope the league got a nice fat payday out of it because after two

I've only ever sat (or stood) in mid- to low-priced sections - first sweltering in 109 at Giants
Stadium, then moving to "Boca 107" last year in the inaugural season of Red Bull Arena, before
settling in the South Ward (132/133) in 2011.
I love me some Red Bull Arena, I really do. No one tops it for the in-game experience. But having
just spent a week nursing at the warm, tricked-out teat of LIVESTRONG Sporting Park I now notice
that there is a lot of unused space at RBA. Or enough of it to build a Man Cave of DIY tv at least.

Bloomberg that raises concerns about the viability of the development project originally envisioned

So I spent a good part of yesterday at the new park in Kansas City and the place is a palace. So in
the interest of sacking up and stating that I was wrong, wrong, wrong I hereby rescind my previous
statement re: LIVESTRONG's place in my personal SSS pecking order. For me this place is in a dead
heat with RBA for the number one spot.
For American soccer fans, we are entering a frantic month of soccer. In addition to our normal
MLS action, we will have the chance to see the Gold Cup and an impressive friendly against Spain.
With the action spread out across the U.S., this may be the most soccer saturated this country has

Defending MLS Cup champion Los Angeles Galaxy will take on the Chicago Fire at Home Depot Center and the New York Red Bulls will face the Portland Timbers at Jeld-Wen Field in two of the headlining match-ups of the opening weekend of the 2013 MLS season.

Breathe it in folks. Fall is surrounding us (even here in Dallas for me!) and playoff soccer is so close you can taste it. There are just two more weeks left in the season and this week could be the biggest of them all as we close in on who will be the last four teams that reach the post season.

Playing at Red Bull Arena, this was a match between the team with the best MLS home record versus the team with the best road record.
In three games during the regular season, DC United and New York scored a combined 14 goals, but it was a 1-0 scoreline that pushed DC into the Eastern Conference finals (to face Houston Sunday on NBCSN, 4:00 PM ET). After drawing 1-1 in the first leg, one of the biggest rivalries in MLS was essentially reset to square one for the second leg.
After a conference call this afternoon, D.C. United and the New York Red Bulls have agreed to switch playoff legs. The two teams will play at RFK Stadium this Saturday, November 3rd and will play the return leg at Red Bull Arena next Wednesday, November 7. The change was brought about by the damage to the area due to Hurricane Sandy; as of this writing, Red Bull Arena is still without power and transportation throughout the entire region is currently disrupted.

How essential is watching an all star game to being a fan of a sport?
That's the question I am asking myself with the MLS All Star Game later tonight. ESPN2 will be
broadcasting MLS All Stars v. Manchester United (The Rematch) beginning at 8:30 PM ET and I suspect
the ratings for the event will be decent (relatively speaking).

MLS returns to midweek action this week with four big games three of them will go a long way in determining the Eastern Conference playoff race.
None may be bigger than the first game of the evening.

Sporting Kansas City at New York Red Bulls:I hope to get into the Eastern Conference race today or tomorrow but until then, we'll have to wait and see how time goes.
Kevin Kinkead has another excellent RSL scouting report on the Union website. In the
head-to-head preview at Goal.com, the Philly guy sees a 2–1 win for the Union, the RSL guy a
1–0 win for the visitors. Philly Union Talk thinks three point are likely while Unholy Union
expects a draw.
While the players are away, the stadiums play. This is pretty dope...almost makes me wish I was
physically fit enough to get strapped in and shoot off to Stratton or someplace for the weekend.
Sadly, with my love of BBQ & Chinese food being what it is the only thing I would be good for is
keeping the fireplace going and mixing the drinks because weebles don't ride well.
