The FIFA International dates make for slim pickins as far as Major League Soccer is concerned, with
only four matches taking place this weekend. While these matches may lack the "grandeur" of the
last few weeks (one has no playoff implications whatsoever), it gives us an opportunity to focus on
some struggling clubs we've overlooked to this point in the season.
It was another busy, crazy week in Major League Soccer. Loads of games that saw the home teams
go unbeaten. So with that there was plenty of movement in the rankings here. We have two new clubs
in the bottom tier and above that saw teams swapping places left and right.
Sexism for Major League Soccer's Official Media Rears its Head (Again) - The Goat Parade
"This is an alarming pattern, and MLS needs to stop immediately. The cascade of representations of
women as good supporters of the real deal, the "true" and legitimate male MLS fan, was retrograde
when the league was founded in the 1990s.
With nearly a third of the Apertura 2012 tournament in the books, Toluca has made it clear they
are the best in Mexico with five straight wins and 15 points. From there, nothing is clear about
the Liga MX table. Second through tenth spot remain separated by only three points.
Club Tijuana has managed to replicate last year's success and got a big 2-1 win over Tigres on
Friday.
If one thing is for certain in the Liga MX, surprises are a given. This year, two teams fit that
description after just four weeks into the Apertura 2012. Toluca, who lost last year's league
leader in goals Ivan Alonso to an unexpected retirement, and newly promoted Leon continue to
impress and look like the real deal.
Tito Vilanova debuts as Barca Manager at Camp Nou.
Messi, Xavi, Iniesta all are expected to start FC Barcelona's First Liga Match.
Lionel Messi against Real Sociedad
The time has arrived to start the pursuit for another La Liga title and also to kick start a new
era, which hopefully will be called as the "Tito Era".

So with the Euro 2012 championship just 13 agonising days away, here at footyblog we've taken
the opportunity to look ahead to the competition and see which players we should be keeping an eye
out for the likes of Eriksen, Muller and Perisic with the chance of becoming household names by the
end of the competition.
In a showdown between two teams with Fenway Sporting Group connections; Liverpool, the John
Henry owned team had to bow before the Thomas De Benedetto led faction which took over Roma last
year.
Michael Bradley who joined Roma earlier this month scored from a tight angle after Erik Lamela
put him through.
Can you honestly say you expected the Yanks to win this one? Well, after the 5-1 hammering dealt
to Scotland perhaps US fans had good reason to. Reality check friends...Brazil is way better than
Scotland. Let us mow through some random thoughts together about the team and the game!
Defense: Timid on the ball, dynamic outside
Oguchi Onyewu's size may no longer offset his liability.
It's been a longer layoff than I would have liked, but I'm back with the Musket Rounds. Despite
the fact that we've gone something like four or five days (including the weekend) without a link
roundup, I don't actually have too much for you today. But the news that's here is quite juicy, if
I say so myself.
The United States begins their last preparations before World Cup Qualifying begins with a
friendly against UEFA side Scotland. The match will take place at the EverBank Field in

On Monday, Arsenal announced the deal to sign Lukas Podolski from FC Cologne on a long term
contract to bring a long running saga to its official conclusion. Some see this as an early signing
and a sign of intent, going so far as to infer that lessons have been learnt. Others might say it's
a late signing and should have been wrapped up in January itself.

As much as they try to paint a glossy picture over the whole situation I think it's fair to say
that the Wolverhampton Wanderers board made a complete hash of their recent manager appointment
process.
I'd go as far as saying that they wouldn't lose much more dignity if they'd rang Mick McCarthy
up and offered him his old job back.
Here we have a new image of what's making the rounds as our rumored home shirt for next season.
A similar looking kit has also been circulating in recent weeks as well, so it seems we may
actually be looking at the real deal here.
New leaked photos of Chelsea's home shirt for the 2012-13 season have been revealed, and this time
we believe it's the real deal. We found out that the one revealed yesterday is a fake, while the

It was the best of halves, it was the worst of halves. Ultimately, this game will be judged upon
the result and its effect upon playoff standings. The Houston Dynamo came back home after a
smashing victory in El Salvador against CD FAS to face very inconsistent Toronto FC. The Dynamo had
a 20 game unbeaten streak at the Cage, in the Oven, and they had every hope of continuing their
home dominance.
Well, I picked a pretty interesting week to go out of town from an Arsenal perspective. When I
left last week there was hope that RvP might be staying put, everyone was jazzed up about the new
signings, and there was talk of more to come. I land in San Francisco on Wednesday last week, turn
on my phone, and immediately receive 5-10 texts from both Arsenal and ManUre fans about the now
confirmed transfer of one Robin Van Persie to Manchester.
Apparently Manchester United is a publicly listed company on the New York Stock Exchange now.
Also apparently, hearing from people who can count beyond 10 in their heads, the IPO itself has
been completely anti-Unitedesque in its performance in Wall Street. It eventually ended up at a
price that would be the footballing equivalent of being relegated after promising to finish in the
top 4.
Cristiano Ronaldo and his fiance, Irina Shayk, spent an
afternoon fishing off an island in Thailand during their holidays last week and of course,
Irina looked stunning au naturel. Cristiano posted the photo of the
couple on his Twitter page, which of course means that all those hilarious rejection flings he had
in the Portuguese club in June don't compare to the real deal Irina!
If you're in the market for a Barca shirt that's not as nice as the one you currently own,
you're in luck: the yet-to-be-released strip for next season has apparently leaked on eBay.
This eighties-tastic red center stripe design has been doing the rounds on the web for some time
and Catalan newspaper/Barcelona cheerleader Sport suggests this purchasable example is an accurate
precursor of the real deal.
