Racing moves out of the relegation zone Atletico Madrid are up to 6th place. It was a physical

Barcelona beat Real Sociedad 2-1. Sergio Ramos' goal proved decisive at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez

A goal from Sergio Ramos was enough to gave Real Madrid a slender 1-0 win against city rivals
Getafe to maintain their seven-point lead over title rivals Barcelona at the top of the Spanish
Liga.
The visitors dominated possession but created few clear-cut opportunities and the match was
eventually settled by Ramos's 18th-minute goal, the Spanish international defender meeting Mesut
Özil's corner with a flying header that powered into the top right coner.
Clint Dempsey will try to keep his torrid hot streak in the English Premier League going against
a Manchester City side looking to hold on to first place in one of today's best matches.
The Cottagers are in need of points to move further away from the relegation zone, but earning
any in Manchester against a City side coming off a loss to Everton won't be easy.
Not too long ago, Chelsea and Manchester United were fighting each other for league titles and
UEFA Champions League superiority. Now, the Blues are just hoping to chip away at a 12-point table
deficit that keeps mounting by the week.
The two English giants battle Sunday at Stamford Bridge in a nationally televised game on the
Fox network, with United looking to maintain its place atop the league while dealing perhaps the
final blow to Chelsea's faint title hopes and forcing the club into a fight for a place in Europe
next season.

Espanyol extended their unbeaten run to five league games and moved into fifth place in La Liga
thanks to a comfortable 3-0 win over Granada. The hosts started brightly and took the lead when
Raul Baena headed in from Thievy Bifouma's flick-on after 26 minutes.

ten-man Real Betis, on a day when Athletic Club improved their European chances by beating
Levante.

Real Madrid remain three points clear at the top of La Liga after an impressive 3-2 win over
Valencia at Mestalla.
Karim Benzema's brilliant strike gave the league leaders the advantage at half-time and when
Sergio Ramos made it 2-0 most fans thought the match was over. But Valencia never rolled over and
two goals from Roberto Soldado made sure that Madrid had to fight until the final whistle to wrap
up all three points.
