It was a very good weekend for Reading United and their goal scoring ace, Deshorn Brown. The
temperature at kickoff at Albright College's Shirk Stadium was 94 degrees, but nothing has been
hotter than a Reading team that has re-discovered their scoring touch, thanks in large part to
Brown hitting the back of the net four times this weekend.

The New York Red Bulls battled in their first game of the centennial U.S. Open Cup against a mix of college students and amateur players from Reading United AC. The visitors were granted the chance to play against the Red Bulls after defeating USL PRO side Harrisburg City Islanders 1-0 in the second round last week.
Some potentially big matches are ahead for the 100th edition of the US Open Cup. Today the fourth round pairings were released and several big potential MLS matches could be involved.
Two that jumps right off the mat would be the Texas Derby between FC Dallas and the Houston Dynamo and the Cascadia Cup between Portland and Seattle.

Reading United entered last weekend's home stand against Bermuda Hogges and Brooklyn Knights
smarting from a three game winless streak. That streak included two consecutive losses for the
first time since the club finished fourth in the PDL's Mid Atlantic Division in 2007, which also
happens to be the last time the club failed to qualify for the playoffs.
Rested and ready for the business end of their season, Reading United return to Premier
Development League action on Friday with a match at Albright College's Shirk Stadium. Winless in
their last three matches and clinging to the Mid-Atlantic Division's final playoff spot, United
welcome the Bermuda Hogges to town for a 7pm kickoff.

On an afternoon when they honored the memory of their founder and contributed to the fight
against cancer, Reading United were again left frustrated by the results on the field and held
to a 1-1 draw by the visiting Long Island Rough Riders in front of the home town faithful at
Albright's Shirk Stadium.

Last week I covered the events of a typical gameday experience, so it's only fair that I mention
the hard work and effort that we go through building up to that moment.
Reading United return to the friendly confines of Albright's Shirk Stadium for their Premier
Development League clash with the Long Island Rough Riders on Sunday, June 24th from 4pm. Sunday's
match is also Reading's Kicks Against Cancer Night in which United raise money for the fight
against the insidious disease which took team founder and local soccer legend, Archie Moylan, in
2000.
Reading advance to the Eastern Conference Championships for the fourth time in five years thanks to
an extra time goal in the 119th minute from Dante Marini.
