Maloney, who will turn 22 in May, was on the Union team that won the 2012 Generation adidas Cup but did not qualify to sign a homegrown contract despite spending time at Reading United and training with the first team as recently as last summer.

Jimmy Ockford joins USL expansion side for 2017 season
Yardley native and former Seattle Sounders defender Jimmy Ockford will be back in USL for the 2017 season, signing on with expansion team Reno 1868 FC.
Ockford, 24, made only one appearance for the Sounders first team after being drafted 21st overall out of the University of Louisville in 2014 while making 13 appearances for Seattle's USL team and 10 appearances on loan to the New York Cosmos in the NASL.
For the second season in a row, Reading United has landed another prospect in the annual PDL Top Prospect list. Last year, former United defender and current Philadelphia Union starter Keegan Rosenberry found himself high on the top prospect list. After finishing his senior season at Georgetown, Keegan was selected with the 3rd overall pick in the 2016 MLS Super Draft by the Union.

Sunday May 15, 2016 saw the 2016 debut for Reading United A.C and LVU Sonic at Goodman Stadium on the campus of Lehigh University. Reading scored early in the game and held on for a 1-0 victory. Below is a selection of my favorite images from Sunday's action.

We already knew that Brendan Burke is the head coach and that he'll be joined by Reading United head coach Stephen Hogan as well as former Union Academy coach Jeff Cook. Now we can add three more coaches to the staff.
