The 1913-14 season saw the launch of the National Challenge Cup, the competition now known as
the US Open Cup, by the recently founded United States Football Association. While the National
Challenge Cup would quickly become the singular competition for the title of Champion of the United
States, the American Cup tournament had been founded in 1885 by the American Football Association,
the first soccer governing body in America.

Throughout the day, the QPR Report Messageboard has news updates,

After a two season spell in the English Premier League from 2008 to 2008, Reading Football Club was
relegated to the second tier of English soccer the Fooball League Championship. The club has since
qualified for the promotion playoffs twice but has failed to regain a place in the Premier League.

The 20th and final place in the English Premier League for the 2011/2012 season will be won
today when Swansea City takes on Reading FC at Wembley Stadium in the League Championship
Promotion Final (10am, Fox Soccer Channel).
Swansea City will be looking to reach the Premier League for the first time in its history,
while Reading will try to return to the Premier League for the first time since the 2007/2008
season.
Some fairly predictable entries this week but, to be fair, it is the biggest game of the season

There is more information about the rumored friendly with Real Madrid, first reported by the
Washington Post last Thursday. Kerith Gabriel reports in the Daily News that negotiations are
underway for a possible July 23 fixture at the Linc. The problem is that the Union are scheduled to
play Seattle away on that date.

Ok, so it's been a couple of weeks since we got back from the Old Continent, and I've finally
recovered. What an insane trip it was. The great You Suck Corrales (pictured above), and myself,
took in several football games, and were even shut out of getting into one, all during the space of
10 days.
