This Sunday sees Tottenham coach Clive Allen join the England Legends taking part in Nivea for
Men's Great Football Experiment this weekend. Clive and a team of fellow ex pros take on the might
of Ivory FC, from the Brentwood Sunday Football League. I'll be interviewing Clive and you can
submit your questions for the Spurs legend by replying to this post.
The official Liverpool FC website recently ran a poll asking fans to vote on the club's greatest
ever goalkeeper. Given the fact many modern fans are seemingly incapable of considering things
objectively, or within the proper historical context, it came as no surprise that Pepe Reina was
voted in at no 1, ahead of the likes of Ray Clemence and Bruce Grobbelaar, who won 11 league titles
and 4 European Cups between them.
Liverpool legend Phil Neal won an astonishing 4 European Cups as a player at Anfield, and he played
alongside some fantastic goalkeepers, including Ray Clemence and Bruce Grobbelaar. Clearly, he
knows a good keeper when he sees one, and Pepe Reina is no exception.
Speaking on LFC TV, Neal paid a glowing tribute to Liverpool's shot-stopper:
"He's the best goalkeeper in the Premiership, and for Spain.
Two weeks without club football? Check. The potential for the club's most important players to
pick up injuries? Check. All the time in the world to stew over a bad performance leading into the
break? Check. A fully functioning liver? That might depend on how many Liverpool players go to
sleep Tuesday night without having picked up an injury between now and then.
Get well soon Ray Clemence
Liverpool FC would like to extend their best wishes to Ray Clemence following the news he has
been admitted to hospital.

A short while back a Spurs fan on Twitter started a survey to find the ultimate Spurs XI of all
time and this got me wondering what my choices would be.
I will start by giving you a brief insight into my Spurs watching history upon which my selections
will be based. The first game I watched was when I was about 4 (30 years ago now around 1981) and
obviously a great time to start with all the winning cup runs starting to occur.
Jay Spearing has revealed how he aspires to start scoring goals for Liverpool after signing a
contract extension with the club.
After a few close calls in recent weeks, including the last moments of Monday night's game against
Fulham, the 22-year old midfielder spoke of his desire to start hitting the back of the net.
Steven Gerrard has paid tribute to team-mate Jamie Carragher as the defender prepares to make his
666th Liverpool appearance to move second on the club's all-time appearances list.
If selected against Fulham on Monday, Carragher will surpass club legends Emlyn Hughes and Ray
Clemence to take second spot outright behind Ian Callaghan, who notched up 857 appearances for the
Merseyside club.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has praised defender Jamie Carragher as he approaches a landmark
665th appearance for the Merseyside club.
If selected at the weekend, Carragher will join Emlyn Hughes and Ray Clemence sitting second in the
club's all-time appearances list, and Dalglish had several kind words to say about the Champions
League-winning defender.
Saturday, May 7 promises to be a special occasion for Jamie Carragher.
Barring injury between now and then, Liverpool's trip to Fulham will be the day that the
inspirational defender climbs into second place in the club's all-time appearance list.
Currently level with Ian Rush (660), six more games will enable him to leapfrog another two Anfield
legends in Emlyn Hughes (665) and Ray Clemence (665).
Jamie Carragher will equal Emlyn Hughes's club record of 45 appearances in the competition if he
figures in tonight's Europa League clash with SC Braga at Anfield. Here are all the rest of the big
match stats.
Liverpool's European record (overall): Pld 327 Won 185 Drawn 71 Lost 71
Liverpool's record in Fairs/UEFA Cup/Europa League: Pld 116 Won 64 Drawn 28 Lost 24
The Reds have won 7 and drawn 1 of the previous 9 meetings with Portuguese opponents at Anfield.
Liverpool's Pepe Reina has shrugged off claims that he is the club's best-ever goalkeeper.
It has been suggested that Reina, 28, is better than club legends such as Ray Clemence, Bruce
Grobbelaar and Tommy Lawrence.
Reina has picked up four out of the last five golden gloves - the award given for the most Premier
League clean sheets every season - and also set a club record when he recorded 100 clean sheets in
just 198 appearances.
There have been few, if any, managers in the history of the British game who could match Bob
Paisley's genius in spotting players. The man who built three Champions' Cup winning teams did so
not by outspending others but by identifying before anyone else players with the talent to play in
his sides.
In one of the least surprising news stories of the day, Gennaro Gattuso has been charged by UEFA
with ‘Gross Unsporting Behaviour' after his clash with Joe Jordan on Tuesday.
After the game, a rash of Joe Jordan stories have cropped up, telling us why Gattuso had picked
on the wrong man.
