Allsvenskan Round 22 Preview

US AIK 11 September @ 12:17 PM EST
The twenty-second round of Allsvenskan is finally upon us after a two-week long break. The top two teams AIK and IFK Göteborg face tricky away games, which could open up the field for Elfsborg. But don't expect any big moves in the top of Allsvenskan as you can be sure that things will remain extremely close even after play is completed in this round. Click to continue reading...

Allsvenskan Round 21 Roundup

US AIK 01 September @ 07:33 AM EST
The king-maker, widow-maker 21st round is now behind us. As it turns out no kings were made and no one was widowed after all. Elfsborg failed to beat IFK Göteborg and Djurgården managed to score a draw away against GAIS. As a result, both the top and the bottom remain too close to call and we'll have plenty of new widow-maker games to look forward to this fall. Click to continue reading...

Allsvenskan Round 20 Roundup

US AIK 25 August @ 06:35 AM EST
If you take a peek at the standings in Allsvenskan after the twentieth round you could easily believe that the battle at the top was as close as ever. If you actually saw the games of the twentieth round you'd wonder what in the world happened to a couple of these top contenders. Elfsborg may only have a one point lead at the moment, but they are clearly growing into a heavy title favorite. Click to continue reading...

Post-Game: AIK vs. Kalmar FF 1-1

US AIK 22 August @ 08:03 PM EST
If I were to put a positive spin on this game I'd say that AIK is still the team with the longest undefeated streak in Allsvenskan. Oh, and that AIK still remains in first place for another day or two. But if I had to level with you, I would say that the draw against Kalmar still feels like a bit of a letdown. Pre-Game: AIK vs. Kalmar FF

US AIK 21 August @ 06:16 AM EST
AIK won't enjoy any sort of peace and quiet at the top of Allsvenskan. Their pole position will immediately be threatened by a very tough opponent as the reigning champions Kalmar FF comes to RÃ¥sunda on Saturday. It's a tricky match-up that AIK hasn't won since 2006. But this game could very well mark a negative turning point for Kalmar, a team that has been an unlikely success story for the past few years. Click to continue reading...

Allsvenskan Round 20 Preview

US AIK 20 August @ 08:33 AM EST
The twentieth round of Allsvenskan gives us two very interesting matches at the top of the table. Kalmar is up against the wall as they take on league leaders AIK. The reigning champions of Kalmar will need to come up with a good result in order to remain in a strong title contender. In the other notable match-up for the top, disease-ridden and injury-laden Elfsborg takes on Örebro only three days after their match against Lazio in the Europa League. Click to continue reading...

Allsvenskan Round 19 Roundup

US AIK 18 August @ 10:51 AM EST
The nineteenth round saw just the expected amount of shuffling at the top and the bottom of Allsvenskan. New league leaders AIK have only scored an average of one goal per game and have had to fight extremely hard for almost every single point they've racked up so far. But an impressive display both defensive strength and team morale has brought the team to the very top. Click to continue reading...

Allsvenskan Round 19 Preview

US AIK 13 August @ 08:00 AM EST
With the nineteenth round upon us we're likely to see some shuffling both in the top and the bottom of Allsvenskan. IFK Göteborg and Helsingborg will enter an extremely important head to head game that is set to jumble the top five. All top five teams seem to have an equal shot at the gold at this point and regardless of the results in this round no team should fall out of contention. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool Target Rasmus Elm Compilation Video

Caught Offside 13 August @ 07:08 AM EST

Now video compilations can easily fool the trained eye into thinking a player is top drawer due to some clever editing and slow motion replays conducted to a nice backbeat can do likewise, but I tell you what, the goals and all round play from 21 year old Swedish International Rasmus Elm, are a joy to watch.

Liverpool Close In On Beckham!

Well, the Swedish Beckham at least!

Rasmus Elm: Liverpool to Battle Everton for the ‘Swedish Beckham'

Allsvenskan Round 18 Roundup

US AIK 10 August @ 07:21 AM EST
Excuse me, Allsvenskan? I think it's time we had a talk. Now don't get upset, because I'm not really complaining. It's just that the recent results have us worried. We are concerned that you may perhaps be... How do I put this?
You're absolutely, certifiably insane.
This was after all supposed to be the round where the results felt more or less predetermined. Click to continue reading...

Allsvenskan Round 17 Roundup

US AIK 03 August @ 06:31 AM EST
The seventeenth round of Allsvenskan leaves us scratching our heads, with absolutely no idea what to expect in the title race. Allsvenskan has been called the second most competitive league in Europe after the top flight in San Marino and it's certainly living up to that reputation. The top five teams are currently all neck-in-neck with only three points separating Helsingborg in first place from AIK in fifth. Click to continue reading...

Allsvenskan Round 16 Roundup

US AIK 27 July @ 09:26 PM EST
The sixteenth round mirrored the previous round as we saw eight rematches with the only difference being a flip in home-field advantage. Another similarity was that top teams kept on winning and bottom teams kept on losing. The effect of this is that the trend we noted at the end of the previous round remains perfectly intact: Allsvenskan is becoming clearly separated into three distinct segments consisting of five top, six middle and five bottom teams. Allsvenskan Round 15 Roundup

US AIK 21 July @ 06:21 AM EST
With fifteen rounds behind us we have now reached the halfway point of the season. In theory anything is still possible, but realistically it appears that the league has been partitioned into three distinct segments. In the first segment we find the five teams that all have a serious shot at the gold; in the middle of the table we have another segment of six teams; and in the bottom of the table we have five teams all struggling to stay out of the relegation zone. Allsvenskan Round 14 Roundup

US AIK 16 July @ 01:20 PM EST
IFK Göteborg and IF Elfsborg had a golden opportunity to make some space for themselves at the very top of the league in this fourteenth round. But instead this became a round for the history books as far as AIK supporters are concerned. Göteborg continued their poor form and lost to AIK in one of the most exciting games of the year.
