Clueless or Mindless?

0

I have this insane amount of free time this evening and felt like I should post. The only problem is that I'm not sure what to talk about.

The soccer season ended recently. It's amazing how much more I get to see my friends now. :D I missed them. They tell me that they missed having me on the sideline, but I enjoyed having the time for other things.

Manchester United's shirts to now read, "USA" rather than "AIG"

2
I keed. I keed. But the dominoes falling on wall street have diverted my attention away from the game I love so much lately.

The failings in New York have been so unbelievably epic that it's hard not to pay attention, and I have yet to find how AIG's collapse and subsequent bail out by American taxpayers will impact their sponsorship of the Red Devils. Click to continue reading...

LABOR DAY TRIBUTE

1
A Lesson in hardwork, humility and respect. It's only appropriate on a holiday designed to give "the working citizen a day off", to recognize two of the hardest workers in MLS. So here's a tip of the hat to Brian McBride and Ben Olsen. According to Fulham's manager,"Brian McBride has been a fine ambassador for Fulham Football Club. Click to continue reading...

Three Footballers Make the List of Highest Paid Athletes

7
If you're like me, then you not only love sports, but the business of sports. As we head toward the Beijing Olympics, this weeks' Economist has a fascinating section on sports business.

I'll be plucking bits and pieces from this section over the next week or so but to start, I'll share the latest chart to make you all wish you'd taken up golf as a kid - but aside from that, it also lists the other 10 highest earners in sport. Click to continue reading...

Chance to Meet FC Barcelona Stars in New York

3
Hi all: an anonymous poster suggested you guys up in New York have an opportunity to meet Barcelona up close and personal while benefiting a fantastic global cause. Of course Barca is known for their altruism (forgoing millions in kit sponsorships to advertise UNICEF, etc.) and they've picked New York as the kick off of their next global gesture. AS Roma Star's Car Stolen with Daughter Still Inside!

12
AS Roma Frenchmen Philippe Mexes got the phone call that makes your heart stop.

Mexes was at pre-season training camp when news came to him that his car was stolen from his driveway while his two-year-old daughter slept on the back seat.

Apparently Mexes' wife left the little girl in the car while she dashed inside carrying the couple's young son and the car thieves thought the car was theirs for the taking. Click to continue reading...

Am I Alone??? and more

0

So we've all learned by now that I'm not very good at writing regularly. Well, sorry about that. I'm like that with phone calls and e-mails too. I stay way to busy to have time to do all this stuff. I do these when I have the time and the energy at the same time.

I told you I'd tell you about camp.

A New Phase for Soccer Chica and soccerchica.com

0

Hey there, all!

I'm still learning my way around the new site. I really like the layout. We had to take off the AIM application; it was slowing things down a lot.

Alright, so now that most of the transformation of soccerchica.com is finished, I'm going to pick up where I left off. I'll get back to writing every now and then.

Summer at Last!

0
Summer is here, and not a moment too soon. After days of exams, I was ready to move out of my dorm room and head home. Looking back on my first year of college, it was everything that I expected it to be and more. It was stressful but I had a lot of fun along the way.
Now that I'm home, I've jumped right back into all that I do here. Click to continue reading...

Ray Hudson would have a stroke..,

TOJA NIGHT

1
This is especially for Adam. You gotta love a FO with a sense of humor. Alot has been made about Juan Toja's impact on the field this season, almost as much as has been made about his hair. ESPN said he looked like Spinal Tap's Nigel Tufnel. My daughter think he looks like Jim Morrison. FC Dallas thinks he looks like money. Lightning and MLS Primetime Thursday

1
What do they have in common beside not knowing when either will strike? Dario Sala of FC Dallas and Wilman Conde of the Chicago Fire were part of a tragedy in Colombia five years ago. One afternoon lightning struck Deportivo Cali's practice field killing two their teammates and changing them forever. If Conde wasn't out due to a red card this would be the first time on the field together since Click to continue reading...

Danny Karbassiyoon - The First Boy Scout

0
Adam Spangler at This is American Soccer has a must read interview with Danny Karbassiyoon. For my guys that are reading this, Danny was a kid playing club ball in Roanoke, Virginia. He was always used as an example of what is wrong with the American Youth System when it comes to identifying talent. Danny never played Regional ODP and was on the waiting list to play at the Adidas Elite Soccer Click to continue reading...
