It's hard to say exactly how BT Sport's television coverage of the Premier League will fare next season, but one thing is for sure: Manchester United's Robin van Persie will be part of the promotional package. The Dutchman took to Facebook yesterday to say he was "having fun at the BT Sport shoot" and attached [.
The third round of the 2012 Torneo Inicial had its fair share of delays due to torrential rain
which hit Buenos Aires and the Argentine litoral* late last week. It eventually got underway on
Saturday, though, and Boca Juniors beat ... Continue reading →
Mexico came from behind to book themselves a berth in the Olympic final, overturning Yuki Otso's
splendid 25-yard drive by putting the first three goals Japan have conceded in the entire
tournament past 'keeper Shuichi Gonda.
It is an un usually grey and cool South Bay summer morning with even a slight chance of some rain,
perfect weather for an unprecedented -- well, for MLS, but we have seen this before in Carson --- 1
p.m. kickoff between Western Conference rivals Chivas USA and the Portland
Now don't get me wrong, I'm no Justin Timberlake on the dancefloor, rather more a sort of sway from
side to side before trying to get into a late-night clinch with some poor unfortunate. But I have
nothing on the Ukranian fan pictured on ITV last night after rain had forced the temporary
suspension of [.
Bas Rutten: "Knee to da groin" Game of the Week DC United 4, New York 1 In the Barra Brava, the
atmosphere rained down richly, chants and middle fingers and lager-infused songs spilling down
harder and faster than the rain pelting and deadening the RFK playing surface. But on the field,
there was little evidence of this being the most heated, longest-running rivalry in the league —
the
In true New England Revolution vs. Houston Dynamo fashion, tonight's match has gotten particularly chippy, and at times, downright physical.
While the rain has subsided, neither side has yet to find the opening goal, although both teams have gone close. New England almost found the opener through some solid play from Fernando Cardenas, who found space on the left flank and sent a near-perfect cross to Jerry Bengtson, but the Honduran's header was just wide of the Dynamo net.
KC had another standing room only crowd for last night's game against Real Salt Lake, the 4th SRO
crowd of the season. The 19,422 actually puts Sporting KC ahead of last seasons attendance rate
which was the highest attended game ever. Here's a look at the rest of the 4th home game
attendances in team history.
Crew Stadium has been a great home for the U.S. Men's National Team
A sold-out crowd will pack Columbus Crew Stadium on Tuesday night, which has proved to be a
fortress for the U.S. Men's National Team. The United States has posted an unbeaten 5-0-3 record
there since 2000, including a 4-0-2 record in World Cup qualifying.
Mexico beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 2-1 in a very wet Chicago friendly on Thursday night, with the
added-time winner coming from Chicharito. The Manchester United striker had a bit of help from
Bosnia's Stojan Vranjes.
With the score at 1-1 in injury time, Vranjes' misfortune began when his attempt to head the
ball out of Bosnia's box failed.
The preparation is done. The players are ready. And it's time to get this tournament underway. The
U.S. team got the opportunity to take a team photo at Hampden Park on Monday. Unfortunately, it was
spitting rain so the picture had to be taken under cover, but the team didn't seem to mind as they
are tremendously excited to be on this journey together.
Training camp is going very well for the U.S. WNT with practice after practice featuring
intense, competitive action, but at the same time the players are having fun. Yes, there are bodies
flying and fantasice goals and saves, but also smiles around as the players participate in what has
to be one of the most high level training environments a female player could experience anywhere in
the world.
Keelin Winters manages to just get a foot to the ball as Alex Morgan shoots
The U.S. team had just one training today, and as some ominous clouds rolled in during the
practice, it seemed for a moment like it might be a damp and windy session, but the rain quickly
passed and the team had another sharp practice that included a 30-minute full-field scrimmage (that
featured some stoppages to work on set plays) at the end.

Ukraine fans may have been disappointed by their side's defeat to France on Friday but many
continued to enjoy the party atmosphere in the host nation. Crowds at the big screens in Lviv and
Kharkiv kept themselves entertained as their Group D match with France was delayed.
A thunderstorm caused torrential rain at the Donbass Arena, leading to the match being suspended
for an hour early in the first half.
Rain was the theme for Friday's Group D games. Be it goals or torrential downpour it made for an
exciting climax to the second round of fixtures. A delay to France versus Ukraine saw England's
battle commence fifteen minutes later ...

Sweden may have been defeated by England last night, but it wouldn't have mattered to these fans
anyway they couldn't have watched the game through that mask!
What would a day at the races be without a few (former and current) Manchester United
players?
Probably a less profitable one, as lordy these lads like to gamble.
Only three 'ballers braved yesterday's rain in their Chester Races suited finery: Darren
Fletcher (with wife, Hayley Grice), Wayne Rooney (also joined by his wife, Coleen) and ex-United
teammate/current Sunderland player Wes Brown (who went without Leanne Wassell).
The Portland Timbers made a perfect start to the MLS 2012 season with a thrilling 3-1 victory over
Philadelphia Union before a rain soaked crowd of 20,438 at JELD_WEN field on Monday evening.
"It was a terrible night with terrible rain, but that didn't dampen the fans. The game went well
and it's a night that I'll genuinely remember forever
Treemendous from The Scottish Sun, is a great read.  I hadn't even thought about the
irony of Kris Boyd huddling in his Timbers green (he'd already mentioned getting used to the
color) with the Timbers before a match.
Following their tumultuous off-season, the Blue and Gold got their third year off on the wrong
rain-soaked foot, falling 3-1 in a game mostly characterized by experimentation and tinkering with
Philadelphia's controversial new iteration of itself. Despite a brave but bewildered struggle to
find their footing, the Union just couldn't find the key to Portland's end of the astro-pitch.
The Portland Timbers practiced out in Tualatin today ahead of their season opener against the
Philadelphia Union. Today's practice was a short one, incluenced by both the rain and the need to
be rested for tomorrow night. Unfortunately, as I had to work this morning, I was unable to
actually get there in time to witness any actual practicing.
To say defense is important to this team is like saying rain is important to make plants grow.
As a mostly counterattacking team, their offense starts with solid defensive skills. And they are
darn good at stopping the opposing offense. They are so good, they haven't let an MLS team score
more then two goals against them the entire year.
Two of the Premier League's top three sides travelled all the way to China to meet in a
rain-soaked Bird's Nest stadium, with the Citizens running out 2-0 victors.
Brendan Rodgers could not hide his excitement at the prospect of embarking on Liverpool's
pre-season tour of North America when he spoke to Liverpoolfc.com just before the squad departed
from John Lennon Airport.
Rodgers and his team will spend two weeks stateside preparing for clashes against Toronto FC in
Canada on July 21, AS Roma at Fenway Park on July 25, and Tottenham in Baltimore on July 28.
Notwithstanding multiple rain and weather delays, the 2012 US Youth Soccer Minnesota State Cup
wrapped up play last weekend with champions being crowned for boy's and girl's teams in the U13
through 19 age groups. The event was once again hosted by the Cambridge-Isanti Soccer Club at
their complex north of Isanti, which some regard [.
One of the biggest complaints about games at Stafire Sports Complex is that they are a pain to
get to. As someone who has been to his fair share of events there, I understand your complaints.
It's certainly not as accessible as CenturyLink Field, but I also think the problems are a bit
overblown.
Watching games at Starfire is really an experience every Sounders fan should enjoy at least a
few times.
EDITOR'S NOTE: It's a slow week and this seems not to be
getting the attention it deserves. Discuss. - Jeremiah
I had my first experience in supporting the Sounders away from home on May 28th, 2011 in Salt
Lake City Sandy, UT. My experiences as an away supporter are best summed up with my tweets from the
trip:
It was a puddle that the Portland Phoenix simply could not paddle out of.
After sinking into a 3-0 hole, the Phoenix scored twice in the final 10 minutes butÂ
ultimately fell short 3-2 to the Brooklyn Italians (PSL) in a rain-soaked U.S. Open Cup
qualifier at Deering High School in Portland, Maine.
The Minnesota Stars (2-W/0-L/3T) picked up their 2nd win of the season with a 2-0 shutout over the
Atlanta Silverbacks on Saturday night in Blaine, Minnesota. The Stars remain the only team
undefeated in the NASL after a month of league play. The rain stayed away but cool and windy
conditions persisted and kept attendance [.
Morning all from a Dublin where summer has arrived. I assume that the absence of torrential rain
is a sign of summer. Maybe I'm getting it wrong.
We'll start today with the news that Robin van Persie's agent has apparently had a nice cup of
tea and a chat with Juventus who would very much like to sign him this summer.
The locker room Gods and Kick TV's Ryan Bailey heard us loud and clear and made it rain in the
back-to-back Bundesliga champions' dressing quarters.
We do not have any more of where that came from unfortunately Kickettes. So instead, please
enjoy pics of the team doing other fun, silly or celebratory things.
Gathering the latest tidbits from here, there, and everywhere- yes, it's time once again for a
synopsis of all things CFC that fail to merit an individual post. Or, you could say, things that
I'm too lazy to put in individual posts.
Nike have just launched the new One and Twos that Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Zlatan Ibrahimovic
and...err...Theo Walcott will be wearing to work as of very soon the new 'mango' colourway of the
Mercurial Vapor 8 boot.
It is absolutely filthy weather here in the South Bay this morning and although the rain may taper
off during the day it looks to me like a soggy cold evening is in store for those willing to brave
the elements at Home Depot Center tonight for the meeting
