I wrote the following before I got the news that "Van Persie has torn his anterior inferior
tibiofibular ligament, and his anterior talofibular ligament has unfortunately snapped- hes out for
the rest of the season." No club confirmation yet, so let's hope this is just some little
journalist jumping the gun.

Lyon 5 Marseille 5 at the Stade De Gerland. November 9, 2009. A nail biting epic with end to end
action. This match will be talked about for years to come.
With L'OM cruising 4-2 it appeared as if the match was done but Lisandro Lopez who surely must
be on Maradona's radar for his late goal scoring exploits brought them back on par in the 81st and
84th minute.

Jonathan Greening was on our radar for some time over the summer, and when he eventually
arrived, on a poorly disguised loan agreement (he's ours after the season), some were concerned
that we had paid too much for an ageing player with no re-sale value.
For one thing, re-sale value is nice, but how often do we actually find players we can sell on
for big money these days?

He's twenty-three, has a German father and an English mother, and his double on the weekend against
Nurnberg to steal a 2-2 draw for Werder Bremen has all of a sudden put this man on the radar of

Liverpool's win over Man Utd got all the Premier League attention this weekend, so Ivan Klasnić
giving us yet more proof of his indestructibility went a little more under the radar than perhaps
it deserved to. You probably remember Klasnić as the Croatian striker who suffered kidney failure
while playing for Werder Bremen in 2007, and [.

101 Great Goals #34 - John Goossens
It's not very often that my adopted Dutch club, NEC Nijmegen, appear above the radar. They are the
very definition of 'mid table mediocrity' - sitting in the middle of the Eredivisie every single
year, doing absolutely nothing whatsoever.
To include a goal that earned them a 1-1 home draw against ADO Den Haag also sounds like the
dullest thing in the world, but this particular piece of brilliance from ex-Ajax kid John Goossens
deserves to shine a light on the club.

Stoke City centre-back Ryan Shawcross is still on the transfer radar of Liverpool, according to a
report from Sporting Life.
The Reds are set to make a January move for the £8 million-rated defender, who has consistently
impressed since moving to the Potteries from Manchester United in 2007.

The Salady Bits GossipAlso, quick line from The Daily Star - they report that Jamie O'Hara will be
allowed to stay at Portsmouth after his loan deal runs out in January. I know it's just gossip but
worth reporting just so you have it on your radar. Maybe he's not necessarily going back to Spurs
in January.

After seeing both Chelsea and Liverpool lose at the weekend, Manchester City boss Mark Hughes
has dismissed claims of a Premier League top four. There's no doubting that City, Everton,
Tottenham, and Aston Villa are all doing their best to break up the top four's stranglehold, and
recent results have indicated that things won't be easy for England's top clubs.

Even as a neutral I couldn't fail but be taken in by the Premier League Manchester derby on Sunday.
As both City and United gave everything in a match that will no doubt be ‘Sky Classic' before you
know it.
Even the build up was entertaining, with Sparky becoming ever more vocal about his nouveau riche
teams chances.

It appears Saviola has finally found a happy home with Portugal's Benfica after many years of
disenchantment with various European clubs. This season he joined the other two Argentine players
Pablo Aimar & the youthful Angel DiMaria to form a very effective trident. He has already score 4
times in 7 appearances for Benefica thus becoming a house favorite.

Well that's certainly how it felt. I'll cut to the chase on this one because I've got my GNR
preparations and an early night ahead of me. And frankly most of today's game was instantly
forgettable. From Enrique's elaborations, to Joey Barton's wonky radar and then over to a lop-sided
and blunted formation, there was [.

Youth development is often considered at the level of the US Soccer federation, but what
progress has there been this year from MLS and its clubs?
It flew under the radar, but MLS' Board of Governors' decision in July to allow clubs to sign
two "homegrown" players from their academies who would not count against the 24-man roster limit
this year (though nor can they play in league matches) is starting to bear fruit (last year, a few
clubs faced dilemmas over whether to sign an Academy player who might not be able to contribute to
the first team, risking losing them abroad).

This time last year, I think during another dull international break, I had a look at the
reserves and which players will make an impact, albeit in the Carling, on the First Team this
season. I thought I would do that again as the only news out of the club at the moment is the
scheduled injury to an important back up centre back (Johan Djourou for those who are unaware)

English clubs offer a professional contract a year ahead of French and Spanish clubs which they
use to their full advantage with young players who have not yet signed with their parent clubs. It
gives them a headstart in their scouting which Chelsea did with Gael Kakuta at Lens and Manchester
United with Paul Pogba at Le Havre.

Word is, Jermaine Jones is on Stuttgart's transfer radar. Pretty big news for a big-league player
that is just waiting for his chance to play with the U.S. men's national team.
Edgar Castillo is also anticipating his chance to play for the red, white and blue.
Sadly they're still waiting for FIFA clearance, which is ridiculous.

Angel Landin by the Houston Dynamo.
We learn today from Bernado Fallas at the Houston Chronicle, that Landin will become the orange
club's first Designated Player:
Some nine months after the Dynamo first tried to lure him to MLS, Mexican forward Luis Angel
Landin has appeared on their radar again, and this time chances are looking better than very good
that he'll be joining the team on a long-term loan.
