A three-year deal Joao?"El MosQuito" will be buzzing around BMO Field for the
foreseeable future as Toronto FC announced today that Joao Plata has signed a multi-year deal with
the club. The dynamic yet diminutive Ecuadorian was often the only bright spark in a miserable
first half of 2011 and his re-signing was considered as an off-season must in most supporters'
eyes.
After weeks of speculation, Chivas USA this afternoon confirmed the signing of Oswaldo Minda, a
28-year-old midfielder with 13 caps for Ecuador. Minda has played with newly-crowned Ecuadorian
champions Deportivo Quito since 2008, scoring 11 goals in 85 games. Chivas fans can check out this

been charged with 'indiscipline' and suspended by the Mexican Football Federation for six months
after being caught partying with four prozzies in their hotel rooms in Ecuador.
The 2011 Copa Libertadores final will see two of South America's pioneering club sides take the
competition back to its halcyon days of the 1960s. Uruguayan giants Peñarol are one of the grand
old clubs of the continent having won South American football's greatest club competition on five
occasions, just two behind record champions Independiente.

Reports & highlights of Group 8 in the 2011 Copa Libertadores. Argentine side Godoy Cruz
recoreded an impressive 2-1 win against the 2008 champions and Recopa Sudamericana holders LDU
Quito on their Copa Libertadores debut. Their goals came from Carlos & Nicolás Sánchez either
side of a Neicer Reasco strike for the visitors.
Brazilian giants Corinthians are out of the 2011 Copa Libertadores before the group stage due to
their Wednesday night defeat to Colombians Deportivo Tolima. Copa Sudamericana holders
Independiente had it tough but managed to overcome Deportivo Quito in their qualifying match whilst
the likes of two-time Libertadores champions Grêmio Porto Alegre, Jaguares de Chiapas, Cerro
Porteño and Unión Española also booked their place in the league stage of South America's elite
club competition.
Copa Libertadores 2011 kicked off on 25 January with a 2-0 win for Copa Sudamericana 2010 champions
Independiente against Deportivo Quito of Ecuador. Matías Defederico who made his return to
Argentina after an unsuccessful stint with brazilian side Corinthians scored on his competitive
debut to make it 1-0 and Patricio Rodríguez bagged another to give the Argentine side a healthy
2-0 advantage
