Blackburn Rovers 3-2 Queens Park Rangers Premier League 11th February 2012
Despite the recent introduction of new boss Mark Hughes, along with the likes of Bobby Zamora,
QPR look set for a long relegation dogfight this season after going down 3-2 to one of their
rivals, Blakcburn Rovers, at Ewood Park.
I've spent too much of my 25 years in the States trying to convince Americans that there's more to
England than the great city of London. However, it's quite likely there'll be 6 London-based teams
in the EPL next season. ...

Manchester City moved three points clear at the top of the Premier League thanks to a convincing
3-0 win at home over Fulham.
Heading into the Fulham match a lot of questions were being asked about a City side that had
lost four of their eight matches in 2012, exiting the FA and League Cups and seeing Manchester
United draw level with them on points at the top of the Premier League.

Djibril Cisse could never be described as a shrinking violet, so it will come as little surprise
that the former Liverpool man was once again the centre of attention at Loftus Road, albeit for all
the wrong reasons.

Queens Park Rangers boss Mark Hughes has slammed the decision to delay John Terry's racism
hearing until July. Terry was involved in an alleged racially-motivated clash with QPR defender
Anton Ferdinand, and Hughes is upset that the trial will interrupt his side's preseason plans.
"They've made a decision that impacts on one of my players, they've given a date which is slap
bang in the middle of pre-season," Hughes said.

Mark Hughes was very active on transfer deadline day, signing ex-Liverpool front man Djibril
Cissé from Lazio and re-uniting himself with Bobby Zamora from Fulham. Castrol EDGE Performance
analysis shows that with an impressive shooting accuracy of 57% and the ability to create a chance
for his teammates every 40 mins, Zamora looks set to play an important role in QPR's battle to
avoid relegation.

Now that the January transfer window is closed, clubs are gearing up to be ready for the rest of
the season. For promoted clubs in particular, the Premiership adventure has entered the second -
and possibly last - half of the season. Whether they will be able to continue their adventure is
anyone's guess, but judging from the league table, Norwich and Swansea look to be in a good
position to stay up.

After acquiring Taye Taiwo from Ac Milan, Queens Park Rangers' continue to collect another
ex-Serie A base player by completing the signing of Djibril Cisse from Lazio for a fee worth around
5 million Euro.
Cisse, who also had premiership experience with Liverpool few seasons ago, has already talked to
the press about his arrival, revealing that coach Mark Hughes and the exciting project that QPR are
creating attracted him.
Former Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has told the Premier League leaders that his Queens
Park Rangers side can help them claim the Barclays Premier League title if they loan out-of-favor
striker Carlos Tevez to the West London outfit.
Hughes has entered the bidding for Tevez's services after the links to both Milan clubs, PSG,
and most recently, even Liverpool, broke down without significant progress.
Style maven Djibril Cisse famous for his hair landscaping, goatees, and tattoos returns
QPR created the most buzz this transfer window completing the transfer of Nancy's highly rated
midfielder Samba Diakite for a reported £3.36m. They added Nedum Onuoha from City and Taye Taiwo
on loan from Milan to bolster the defense.
Everton has leapfrogged West Ham, Queens Park Rangers, and cross-town rivals Liverpool in being
the front-runners to sign Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic.
The Toffees, who have scored only 22 goals this season a total that is only higher than
bottom-club Wigan are in search for a finisher with a proven pedigree and Jelavic offers an
affordable option to cover their needs.
With just a day left in the transfer window, the normal last minute rush that has been so common
in past years looks non existent with many clubs choosing to remain very quite in this January.
Carlos Tevez's big money transfer that we were all keenly looking forward to failed to
materialise after City refused to back down on their €30 million buying price.
Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has urged the Stamford Bridge crowd to seek inspiration from
the club's traveling support at Loftus Road on Saturday to change the anxious vibe at the Blues'
home ground.
The West Londoners were nearly unbeatable at home not too long ago but have appeared extremely
vulnerable under Villas-Boas, who is hoping that the recent return to form improves the atmosphere
at the Bridge.

The other match with a potentially explosive racial overtones was effectively nipped in the bud
as the FA decided to do away with handshakes pre-empting Anton Ferdinand's contemplated threat not
to shake John Terry's hand. The Chelsea captain begins his legal challenge on Feb 1st defending
against charges of a racist verbal assault on Ferdinand in their last match on Oct 23rd.
Chelsea's succes in overcoming Queens Park Rangers on Saturday apparently brought some
negativity for them as one of their important players, Ramires, was forced to leave the pitch with
what looked to be a knee injury.
This situation is apparently worrying for the Blues' manager, Andre Villas-Boas, who tried to be
optimistic with his Brazilian midfielder's condition, hoping that it won't be a very serious knee
problem for the ex-Benfica man.
We of course don't have the official prognosis yet, but on the strength of quotes from both the
player and Andre Villas-Boas it looks like we may have dodged a massive bullet.

Ramires went down in serious pain during the second half of today's FA Cup fourth-round tie at
Loftus Road against Queens Park Rangers.

Considering all the pre-match hype concerning Anton Ferdinand and John Terry's long-awaited
reacquaintance, you would have thought that the game itself might have fizzled a bit more. However,
instead, it was a flat affair, with Juan Mata outstanding out for all the right reasons, and Daniel
Sturridge making a name for himself for all the wrong ones.

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas made headlines yesterday when he came across as extremely
non-committal in discussing prospective signings such as Genk's Kevin De Bruyne and Shakhtar's
Willian.
The Portuguese manager has followed up by explaining that his stance stems from the unappealing
nature of the January transfer window.
The magic of the FA Cup. The combined furor of two players and thus two clubs and two sets of
support groups embroiled in an alleged race row.
And, of course, handshake gate revisited.
Not again
Saturday's FA Cup fixture between visiting Chelsea and Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road is
brimmed with subplots.
Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas insists that he is not the right man to discuss a potential
deal for Genk youngster Kevin De Bruyne and also feels that "certain issues" will prevent the club
from signing Brazil international Willian from Shakhtar Donetsk.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea's FA Cup visit to cross-town rivals QPR a fixture that Villas-Boas
desperately wants to win in order to get one step closer to silverware the Blues gaffer told
reporters that neither De Bruyne nor Willian were in his immediate plans.
FA Cup Preview: United to finally beat Liverpool at Anfield - originally posted on

Here's a look ahead at the biggest matches in the FA Cup fourth round this weekend, along with
top betting tips for each game.
Liverpool v Manchester United
No doubting the big game of this weekend's FA Cup fourth round action as Liverpool play host to
arch rivals Manchester united in what promises to be an action packed and explosive encounter.
Chelsea's up coming against Queens Par Rangers will be the first meeting for both John Terry and
Anton Ferdinand since claims that Terry racially abused Ferdinand surfaced last October.
And according to chief racism campaigner, Lord Herman Ouseley, he expects the duo to diffuse the
tension surrounding the incident by shaking hands during the customary pre match formalities.
Taye Taiwo has finally been officially unveiled as Queens Park Rangers' new signing this January
and the player express his gratitude towards the club's manager, Mark Hughes, who reportedly was
then one asking for the Nigerian international.
The six months loan deal with possible buy out clause at the end of season was actually done few
days ago, but it's just got active after Taiwo received his working permit, a basic conditions for
foreigners to play in the premier league.
Henrique: still off to QPR?
São Paulo director, João Paulo de Jesus Lopes, says that the door has not been shut on forward
Henrique's transfer to QPR. The Morumbi club say that contrary to earlier reports, Henrique has not
been denied a UK work visa. "The truth is the visa wasn't turned down.
Queens Park Rangers apparently can't afford Alex. Paris Saint-Germain, meanwhile, certainly can.
I guess that solves that then, in my skewed mind at least.
A reunion?
The protracted transfer of Alex away from Chelsea drags on.
News today arrives in two parts.

While his club are urging him to, there is still a fair old wodge of uncertainty as to whether
Anton Ferdinand will shake John Terry's hand before QPR's FA Cup tie against Chelsea at Loftus Road
on Saturday.
As you will be all-too-well aware by now, Terry is due to attend a hearing at West London
magistrates court four days after the match on charges of racially abusing Ferdinand after
referring to the QPR centre-half as a 'farting black klutz' or something similar when the two sides
met in the Premier League back on October 23rd of last year.
Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic is set to snub the interest of several other English clubs to
seal a transfer to Liverpool, a club that the player's father has described as 'great'.
Jelavic has been the subject of interest from the Reds' fellow Premier League side Queens Park
Rangers as well as Championship outfit West Ham United.
